Sinkhole

Hey guys. I took a ride to my LGS last week and was looking around for nothing in particular. I walked buy the same gun cases I've walked by a hundred times. Today was a little different though. Out of the corner of my eye I spot this gun that I have seen a ton of times but never took a closer look at. So I asked it I could see it. Turns out this gun must have been calling my name or something stupid like that. As soon as my hand wrapped around the grip it felt like the gun was designed just for my hand. Then I notice the night sights and gave this gun a complete look over. I'm a lefty so the full ambidextrous controls were a huge plus. The trigger pull is amazing, crisp and light. It also came with 3 17rnd mags and four interchangeable back straps. I was sold. So she had to come home with me. I am the proud new owner of an FNH FNX-9

FNX-9 RANGE REPORT

I just got home from the range. I took only my FNX-9 and 150 rounds of ammo. I shot 50 rounds of Speer 115Gr. TMJ, 50 rounds of Magtech 115Gr. JHP, and 50 rounds of reloads. The reloads were 115Gr. Speer GDHP on top of 5.9Grs. of Unique, in Speer brass with Federal #100 primers. The FMX-9 is an absolute pleasure to shoot. The felt recoil is very low for a gun weighing in at 21.9oz (empty). The SA trigger pull is the extremely smooth, light and has crisp release. The DA trigger pull is heavy but is every bit as smooth, with the same crisp release. The factory Trijicon night sights are well designed and very easy to see. I found the gun returns to target very fast, making follow up shots quick. The gun performed flawlessly with out a single malfunction. I myself have been shooting striker fired guns for so long now, I found I really need to work on my trigger control with this hammer fired gun. So here are the specs.
Barrel: 4" CHF 1 in 10" RH twist
weight: 21.9oz. empty
Length: 7.40"
Height: 5.45"
Width: 1.55"
Capacity: 17+1
Action: SA/DA with decocking/manual safety levers
Controls: fully ambidextrous

So here are some pics of some of my targets. You can see I need more practice with this gun, and maybe a refresher on some of shooting basics.
I shot all pictured targets at 8yrds. and sent one out to 25yrds. to see how well the gun performed at range. The targets my range uses are man shaped & sized cardboard with a yellow sticker targets placed at center mass. AT 25 yrds. I was able to 11 of the 17 rnds. in the yellow with 5 of those being in the black.
Now on to the 8yrd. targets.
This target was my 1st 10rnds of Magtech 115gr. JHP

This next target was 17rnds of Speer 115Gr. TMJ. The stringing shows some flaws in my trigger control.

This last target was 17rnds., shot with my reloads. Apparently my FNX-9 really likes my load. Again a little trigger control issues.

I also got a little bonus while I was there. I was talking to the RCO about my gun and the FNS-9 came up in conversation. The FNS-9 is the striker fired version of my gun. So I go back to shooting and he comes back in with a SS and black FNS-9 with night sights and a box of Speer 115Gr. TMJ. He says here you go man, knock your self out. So I put 50rnds through that gun and have come to the conclusion that I need to own one of those too. The trigger pull on this gun is better than any striker fired gun I have fired, Yes it's better than a Glock, M&P and the SR9/SR9c. It's every bit as smooth as my FNX-9 with only a very slightly heavier pull and nice crisp release. I must say the trigger reset on both guns is short and very distinct, also.
Over all I could not be happier. In only 150rnds this gun has propelled its self to the favorite gun I own, followed by my M&P45. Their is a compact model of the FNS-9 listed on FN's website, however to my knowledge it is not available to the public yet. After firing the FNS-9 today I will be selling my SR9c, in favor of this gun when the compact becomes available.
