Does anyone know where I could find a good weapon light mount for a Fenix LD20? The diameter of the light is approx. .830 in. Ive seen the plastic VTAC on and ive heard it's not very solid as it is made of plastic or something similar. None of the really good mounts seem to make one for executive size lights. I like the Haley mounts as well as the DD mount but they won't fit. I just don't want to buy a brand new light to fit a mount when I have a good light already. Thanks in advance for any input

The VTACs are solid and the insert should hold that diameter fine.

They are the best bang for the buck. It's all I use and have no complaints after a few years of running them.

The Surefire E series is 0.83 so you should be able to get one from Gear Sector and IWC

Gear Sector makes awesome stuff.

Check out the THORNTAIL from IWC & Haley Strategic. The cantilevered, offset mount provides more mounting options than any other mount.

If you go the route of the Thorntail, be sure you think about how far forward you want the light. The shorter SBR version might work better for you since you aren't using a tape switch.

ETA: I have one mounted on the top rail behind a carbine length FSB and I actually had to mount it a little further back so that the tail switch was in the right place. If I had a longer FSB cutout rail, I could run the mount further forward because of the extended grip.

I do really like the Haley mounts but I didn't think they made one that fits a light diameter of .83. I'll have to look at the website again. Thanks for all the input guys, much appreciated!!

Here's the link for the mounting ring. The image is of a 1" but you can select the 0.83"

There is a 20 some page thread on weaponlight mounts with pictures on M4C.

Do we really need to replicate the same here too?

I don't usually keep a light on any of my rifles, but this SBR is set up to attach a G2 on a Gear Sector mount, or directly mount the TLR-1 I keep around for my M&P 9L. In both cases, I activate the light with the support hand thumb. The Gear Sector mount isn't exactly no-tool quick-detach like the TLR-1, but it slides on and off pretty quickly and locks down with a hex-wrench.

Since the photo was taken, I've ditched the Surefire G2 in favor of a Brownell's BLV-280 (http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=45175/Product/BROWNELLS-VERSATILE-LIGHTS), a nice 280 lumen aluminum-body light. So far, I've found it to be superior to the G2, and is the same diameter and fits the same Gear Sector mount.

His question was a bit more specific, referring to the reduced diameter of the Fenix LD20.

To be blunt, I don't care about what another board does, what posts they have, or what flavor they drink.

Text removed. We don't need that here. We're a rather tolerant group, but have reasonable rules to keep things going in the right direction.

Well since I can't seems to receive a registration email from them and they refuse to answer any emails in regards to the matter I wouldn't mind if we did.
