Yup. From back when it wasn't nearly "the thing" that it is now. Albeit with a new barrel now.

All of it really. Though as a side effect it has caused the RIS II to grow on me, even though I don't need a heavy quad rail.

It's interesting...lately I've been more sensitive to the weight due to figuring out my optic equation. But still, for a quad rail, it works very well with a bomb-proof rail system. I love my C4 rail systems, but the RIS 2 just seems to be more robust....not that I really need it.

BTW, I think UWone is just jealous that his NX8 is "naked."

Quite the contrary. My truck is bluish purple, or purplish blue, depending on the time of day and light.

I think it's going to work well. It has a good quality "feel" to it, like smooth power adjustment, positive clicks on reticle adjustment. Size-wise, I guess it's a little longer than I expected, but it doesn't feel oversized or heavy on a rifle. I haven't taken it out shooting yet, but I've taken it outside a couple days to view thru it - I like the illuminated diamond reticle and dot, otherwise it's similar to an ACSS style, just more detailed. Veiwing is good in sunlight and cloudy days, but it doesn't gather light at dusk quite as well as I would like - but it cost less than $400. I guess that's where the trade-off begins - cost vs. low light performance. But I'm pleased overall so far.

When I bought my Razor, the website had it's color listed as "black". When I opened it, my first reaction was "WTF"??!!. I don't know what color it is, maybe "bruised baboons ass" or something? So much for stealth and not standing out in a crowd. Looks like it could be used to spruce up a LGBT and the rest of those letters, fashion show! Seesh….

I actually kind of like the Aero mounts but, yeah, you need the SPR version for pretty much anything on an AR.

I like that wood background and the lighting of this shot, too. Well done.

Got a smoking deal on this M536 because the seller hated the ACOG-like eye relief. Works for me though I’ll need to find an Mpro to mount forward of the scope. (Reticle and glass much crisper to the eye.)

I really like it. Came in a package with an ADM Recon mount (I wish the levers were on the left...I don’t like anything over the ejection port.) and came with a free lever for the magnification dial

So far the brightness on the dot has been adequate (I’m sure the right surface would wash it out...nothing is perfect), the reticle reminds me of the one on my TA11 ACOG. It has center crosshairs with the illuminated dot center with corresponding BDC hash marks which can also be used for range estimation.

I do think the illumination dial could have more solid clicks...doesn’t take much to turn it so I can see this turning on in a rifle case fairly easily.

Mini acog. I really wanted to like these. On paper I really liked the idea. Been playing with this one for a couple days and played with a tiny x2 for a little while too. i think it's too close to 1x but not being 1x and drives me nuts (both eyes open). i am sure this is a training thing and it's probably pretty easy to overcome.

The ACSS reticle is pretty cool though.

Believe it or not, that's actually more forward than with a KRAM (or maybe it's no less back than a KRAM), and I have the stock one click forward from full back (6-position). I think the angle is exaggerating things.

It's rare I'm ever that close, even prone. With my body type, I try to minimize the "krunch" of my shooting wrist, and if not prone, maximize the stabilization of my support arm. Just different styles.

And irons? I remember being able to see those in my younger years...

Correct. Sulzer is only alternative to LWRC to use 6.8 pmags that I’m aware of. For a helluva lot less dough. A rag on the standard mag block does the tighten up. (Archie Bell reference intended. Still one of the coolest songs ever.)

What's your intent with the sights? Precision, fast, or just having a back up?

I've found the KAC Micro 600m makes shooting precisely at distance much easier when paired with a KAC front sight. But the smaller aperature that makes that possible (at least for me) doesn't make it as fast (at least for me). Then again, I don't tend to shoot up close with irons much because it's 2019 (kidding....kind of).

I want to be able to use them reliably up to 100 yards on a CMMG Banshee 9mm PCC with 8" barrel. I rarely use the small aperture on AR sights, I find that out to 100 yards the large aperture works for me. So with that in mind, weight, durability and ease of deployment are my highest priority aspects.

Hey guys, is there a flip-up rear sight you prefer these days? I bought a set of the Scalarworks PEAK sights, but the sight picture is just too busy with an MRO on their lower 1/3 mount. Lower 1/3 works well for me with a larger optic like the Comp M4 but the smaller diameter of the MRO makes it just a little too much.

So what flip-up iron sight is a good choice? Price is no object, obviously if I'm buying Scalarworks gear ... [:)]

I have tried and like the Magpul MBUS Pro, that is what I'm leaning to at the moment but I would like to hear your opinions.

I like the KAC Micro and MBUS Pro and how you can adjust the front sight with the little wheel rather than needing a sight tool (or 5.56 round) BUT it’s not a huge deal

The Griffin M2 folding sights are nice and have been on a rifle of mine for a while.

Most recently purchased is a KAC (non micro) front that folds down into the sight base, protecting it from impacts etc. Not cheap but functional and durable

Magpul pros are probably more than enough. I’ve seen reports of lacking durability but I’ve had no issues. KAC are nicer and well tested but spendy. Between them on price is Rainier, which Aragorn mentioned. They are refined. And I love the the way aperture tucks out is the way.

Edit: the new sights from Midwest Industries look good too.

If you're consistently using the large aperture, I'd consider the Troy's since their rear only folds down in the large position. Good deal for a set at AIM

I also like the MI, they're solid.

Others that I like that are more money, Rainier's BUIS, KAC's, and of course the MBUS Pro's have worked well for me.

I liked the ACSS so much in my ACOG, I wanted to try it out in their 224 Valkyrie calibrated “Apollo” reticle in the SL6x 3-18x50 FFP. The glass is far better than I was expecting, the turrets lock in place and have solid, tactile clicks. The magnification dial has a customizable lever location which is a nice touch. It’s about the same weight but it’s 2.5” shorter than my PST 6-24x50. I’ll be zeroing it Wednesday and running it out to 600yds right away.

The Rainier Ultramatch Mod 2 has just at 750 rounds through it. Hoping 5000 rounds is a good target for barrel life.

I can not describe the envy I have right now. I’ve been wanting one of those S&B’s for awhile now and saving coin towards one. Got a little put off though with a review that said the dot wasn’t bright enough outside, wasn’t sure how much merit to put into that.

So, been debating Kahles recently also, especially with their 1-8x coming out.

That said, I want to know ALL your thoughts on the S&B!

Haha. I got this one for a steal, traded a guy an Elcan and MRDS. First impressions on the S&B, glass is amazing, clarity is better than anything I have looked at. The dot seems plenty bright from me holding it close to some led lights, the dot doesn't wash out until I put it right in front of the light. Itll be a few weeks until I get it out to shoot, hopefully picking up a mr762 soon.

That.... is a steal. Especially given that I’ve never even owned a car worth as much as that optic goes for new.

I can’t a hold a dot washing out when placed directly over an LED against it. My UH-1 and MRO also wash out against an LED even on their brightest settings.

Guess I’ll keep saving until I can confirm something else is better or as good. Looking forward to continued reports.

Dude MRDS and an ELCAN? That's a deal all day long, especially how ELCAN prices have dropped in the last year. Nice score.

Never used a S&B in the field, but did get to look through a couple of dozen back at Era3 when they were building bolt guns. Phenomenal glass.

Due to in part of a condition referred to as hyperopia combined with extreme mild presbyopia (not really fully symptomatic), I have unfortunately retreated from iron sight operations in the near term. Some impending surgery may alleviate that eventually.

All that said, it's got a better FOV than a RMR. Foot print is pretty close to the RMR, although slightly more forward on the slide. The grip angle is more towards RMR (but not completely) than my T-1, but the difference seems to be negligible. I stopped shooting my RMR in the last few months due to negative training. I'd like to get back to irons eventually, just to maintain the skill.

I understand your reluctance to split the difference.

Thanks. Re-reading, I made it sound more dramatic than I had intended. Basically I'm far-sided with impending age also reducing any near-sightedness I might have even more (everyone will have that happen as they age). LASIK will help with the former, and help simplify with the eventual inevitability of the latter.

But at the end of the day, I felt like the ACRO would be more at home on a G17 than a G19. Then again, I enjoy shooting a G17 more than a G19, so I'm sure there's some bias.
