I received a Tareinco Slim Camera Sling (SCS) last week to review, so the following is just my opinions and first impressions for the past weeks use.

The Tareinco Slim Camera Sling is the non-padded version of the Tareinco padded strap, called the Adaptable Camera Sling. The sling is fully adjustable and has ITW Web Dominator's attached on both ends to secure the loose strap when not used. The thickest portion of the sling is approximately 2 inches in width and has three Velcro loop patches sewn in. The Velcro loop patches will accept a standard United States sized flag patch and will accommodate the upcoming Strap Pouches that will allow the user to store extra batteries, memory cards, and the larger strap pouches will be able to hold larger objects such as pocket cameras, cell phones, first aid kits, etc.

The SCS is manufactured as three pieces, which include the main strap and two connecting attachment points to connect to the camera itself. The connecting attachment points secure to the camera body with paracord and are extremely easy to mount to the strap brackets by threading the paracord loop through the bracket, then feeding the buckle end through the paracord loop. At the end of the attachment points is a heavy duty plastic buckle that connects to the buckle end of the main strap. After being a photographer for 18 years, I have found that I do not necessarily want to use a camera strap/sling that does not have some sort of means of quick disconnect from the camera body itself.

This sling is definitely not a catch all sling for all types of photography or conditions. Some photographers, especially those who are carrying very heavy lenses, will probably not want to wear this strap for an entire day. However, I wore this strap with the pictured Canon 1D Mark III and a medium sized lens for approximately 5 hours without any problems, shoulder pain, or rashes from the sling rubbing.

On a side note, I typically carry my camera on my right shoulder, strapped diagonally across my chest. I find this position to be very similar to how I carry my AR in a Tactical 2-Point Sling. With this type of carry I am able to grab the camera quickly for a fast shot and still be able to get the camera out of the way when I need to use both of my hands.

I did try the sling out by wrapping the main strap portion around my neck, allowing it to hang directly to my chest. (Think what a tourist may look like with a camera hanging around his/her neck.) This type of carry is not particularly comfortable for me with any strap, as fatigue to the back of my neck sets in fairly quickly and the camera is typically in the way when I do not need it.

The only discomfort that I found while testing out this sling was from the ITW Web Dominator. With a jacket on I did not notice it, however with a thin t-shirt, I noticed that the melted end of the bungee cord tended to rub my back to a point of being noticeable, but not uncomfortable. I am going to see if I can turn the sling around (switch buckles) or try to cut down the melted tips to smooth them out.

All in all, I really like this sling and I will keep it on my camera body. I appreciate the fact that the strap is extremely thin and does not have a lot of bulk to it. The sling lies down nicely and conforms to my body where it should and does not bunch up in certain places, such as the top of the shoulder.

As I use this sling for a longer period of time, I will post updates to how it is performing and any malfunctions or defects (if any).
