I think its a pretty safe guess that the 5.56 will look similar to this .308 prototype. I don't have a lot of information, but I'll answer what I can. Hopefully someone from Mega, or one of the people with better info will come along shortly to fill us in.

Interesting. I'd like to know the inside and outside widths, and what type of barrel extension/nut it uses.

I'm curious about the dimensions as well. A smaller 5.56 version of this would fit my needs beautifully.

I'm ok with no forward assist.

agreed. I think what's actually pictured is the .308, in which case they rarely have an FA anyway, but even in the 5.56 I have no use for it and am happy to see more manufacturers leave them off.

Stick, I'm assuming they're going to make these is the standard carbine, mid, and rifle lengths? Any others such as a 15" ?

I wish they would somehow integrate BUIS into those uppers. It would be easy to do up front like Knights has done, but don't know if possible on the rear.

I'm not sure at this point. I would imagine the standard sizes would come first, and those which sell in much lesser numbers later.

Any idea if the Noveske NSR panels will fit this profile?

Good sir, I find your question excellent, and wonder why I failed to ask that myself with all the parts sitting next to me.... I'll have an answer for you shortly...

.... and the answer is that I can not tell with the rapid prototype piece I have. I'm not sure if it is a thickness issue with the prototype material, or if it is the angles involved. I know Todd commented on another board the NSR pieces were meant for the NSR, while Keymod pieces were meant for any Keymod rail.

When I have functional parts in hand, I'll let you know if this will work, if it will need to be have mods, or if its a flat out no-go.

Beautiful. If they fit, or could easily be made to, that would be most handy...

KeyMod is not the same as AI, both were made without knowledge of each other and came out at SHOT.

KeyMod accessories like our rail sections and light mount will fit any KeyMod handguard. Our panels are designed to fit our NSR handguard shape and may not fit other handguards.
I would not be surprised if we see a skinny panel that will fit all KeyMod handguards at SHOT.

I'm assuming that despite using the same barrel nut as on the monolithic uppers, you can still pin a gas block using this forend?

Will also be interesting to see what the weight difference will be between this and a NSR on a standard upper.

No joy, spent half an hour on fitting the NSR Panel onto the MKM.

You can fit the non locking pieces in with some downward pressure to "stretch" out the panel. But the Finger Stop that has a lock on it I could not get to mount in half an hour of working with it.

Thanks for posting up that it was not likely it would work.
