I picked up my stag arms last Tuesday. I have yet to shoot it and I've been so busy I haven't really looked at it. I was told it was a 16" 1/9 twist. Most of the stags I read about are the 1/9. I took my gun out to spend some much needed quality time together and I noticed this on the barrel. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/01/16/yquzejap.jpg

Also this barrel doesn't feel like a full 16 more like a 14.5 with the a2 making it 16. I could be way off. Check it. I might be doing this wrong.

And to the end

I might be an idiot and I'm doing this wrong. So that's why I'm asking you guys for input so I can learn the right way to identify these things.

Can't speak of the twist rate, but with the bolt closed, insert a small wooden dowel rod down the barrel until it hits the closed bolt. Note where the dowel rod is at the end of the barrel, not the flash hider, and measure the dowel rod. That will give you a pretty close estimate of how long your barrel is. Just a quick look at your picture and your measurements, it looks like a 16" barrel. Hope this helps.

And Stag does have 1/7 barrels, but the 1/9 is more common.

It does help a lot. Thank you. And I'm very pleased its a 1/7 not that the one nine is bad and it doesn't feel much different I'm used to 1/7

I'm pretty much sticking the rod In there and measuring the barrel as if it didn't have a flash hider correct?

Correct.

You can check the actual twist by taking a cleaning rod with a patch on the end and putting a little flap of tape on it near the handle. Push it in the barrel, measure the distance it takes for one complete rotation of the rod.

Remember the barrel extends INTO the Flash hider over 1/2 an inch. So don't just measure to the shoulder.

Stag offers a "plus" package, which is an upgrade for most models, the package has 1/7 barrel and m4 feed ramps. Most of their other rifles are 1/9, without m4 feed ramps. If your gun has m4 feed ramps than it is most likely one of their "plus" guns

If I take a pick will you guys be able to tell if it an m4 feed ramp? I found this pic. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/01/18/a3ymu3a8.jpg

And minehttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/01/18/asunuqe9.jpg

I'm guessing I don't have the m4 feed

I think my barrel is 16" so I should go with the BattleComp 2.0 the 1.5 is for sbr

Actually, it appears that you do have the M4 feed ramps. Notice how they extend past the barrel extension and into the upper receiver. The rifle feed ramps are confined to the extension only, which is why the rifle extension requires a non-M4 upper receiver as it creates a non-desired lip at the barrel extension.

Those are definitely M4 feed ramps. I would go BC 2.0, I use 2.0's on all most of my rifles. The only reason to use 1.5 would be to permanently attach it to a 14.5" barrel.

O wow. I thought it looked more like the rifle feed on the comparison picture. Thank you guys for all the awesome info. So this gun might of been a parts package from stag?

No, the "plus package" is an upgrade ($100) that can be chosen when ordering a rifle directly from Stag. When we order Stags we usually order them with the package.

Here is what the Stag website says about the package

Upgrade Includes:
- 4150 barrel steel chrome lined
- 1/7 Twist rifling
- M4 feed ramps
- Individually MP & HP tested and marked Bolt & Barrel
- M-16 Bolt Carrier
- Heavy (H) buffer assembly
- Two (2) 30rd USGI Magazines*
