Haha I feel your pain. I've had a few SMOS shots where I was like, "Damn I'm getting good, I can't wait to show this one off." And then I realize in PS that the rail is crooked :mad:

Btw I still can't get over how good that BCG looks. That thing is hawt!

Thanks, guys. There's something i really like about ARs with a FSB. As for having an AR to just leave alone, i tried that and failed miserably. I built a super basic M4 clone with the intent of having a super basic gun to leave in that configuration, and within a year i'd replaced the M4 stock with a SOPMOD, the plastic hand guards with a DD RIS II rail (although mine is black and i want one in FDE), the carry handle with a red dot and BUIS, etc. I wish you luck! [BD]

Thanks, man! The KAC can (and a full auto lower[BD]) would definitely round out the package.

The M4SD-II has been on my radar a while. Unfortunately, no one stocks them locally and they're out of stock at Silencer Shop.

Got my Fortis Gen2 14" from a disturbed member today. Feels sweet w/o the rails of the Gen1. The lo-pro Bobro BUIS is the only rear that let"s me mount the Elcan far enough back and not interfere with the illume knob. Magpul drum makes a handy photo stand.

Have you heard of an app called Snapseed? It's what I use when I'm too lazy to mess with Photoshop and it gets the job done.

You know this is not really going to help with gas suppressed. I've seen some guys who shoot this F1 suppressed and the best comment they could make is, "it's not that bad." This is a 3 gun rifle.

Gas comes out just about every nook and cranny in a pistol/rifle/suppressor. If you've ever seen one on a still frame or really slow motion, you'd be amazed at all the different places gas gets ejected from that it wouldn't normally.

Best case scenario, it might make a gas "cloud" versus a direct rearward jettison.

I haven't had a chance to shoot with it yet so I can't say one way or another.

The safety comes with a standard and short. Not really any notable difference from one or the other as far as function or feel is concerned.

That grip would look damn hot with gold wire, Anso pattern, lightning strike carbon fiber scales.

Yeah? Might be starting another upper soon and was kinda thinking of getting the Vella forend, though for the price it's hard to beat the KMR if for no other reason than the weight.

It's starting to wear a little on the top of the can.

I've really only noticed the finish discoloring when it's on a F/A lower. Otherwise, it's getting a slightly darker tint. But this is one of my least shot can's.... I know others have had the finish burn off quite a bit.

Jerry, if I'm not mistaken, UW's can is a legacy Surefire. Here's the same can with ~500 rounds through it:

And here it is at probably >1K, all on a 10.3" (bottom)*. The Mini actually looks pretty good in that picture. Talk about hard to find!

UW, what are the rail and barrel lengths on this setup? I was planning on doing a 13.7" rail/14.5" barrel w/ a M4SDII for the SMOS build, but I think I may do something similar to this. Provided SMOS offers this rail length, that is.

That's a 0566 in Blackwash. The later gens have a much snappier deployment than the 0566 was originally known for. Get one and enjoy!

A local guy I know shot 300 BLK out of his 556 chamber. That only happened once. [BD] This happened awhile ago, and I asked if I could have the upper. As you can see. Make sure you check your ammo against the barrel you're shooting it out of.

I remember the surprise in the original thread I saw about the bullet making it out. The poster was surprised because no projectile was present, and there was some damage to the rifling, IIRC, so it went somewhere. People shooting 300 BLK through a .223 happens enough to the point I wouldn't rule anything out.
Here's one picture I found:

If the .300 BLK bullet was light enough with enough powder behind it/thin enough jacket, it could squeeze down enough to make it out of a short barrel 5.56/.223

Wow, that's crazy. I just assumed the weakest point of escape would still be blowing the bolt/carrier back going out the receivers.

To help clarify, a 277 barrel can't chamber a 223 and vise versa. Have personally tried them both each way. No go..

I have a CNC Guns .45 lower and Olympic upper that I've been fiddling with for way too long and I'm having problems with it. I should have just gone 9mm! I load a lot of .45 on a Dillon 650 though, so that was my big driver. Ugh. Good luck on the build! I love the Joe Bob uppers and lowers - I have a few for future projects. They seemed worth getting while they were available and stockpiling.
