The price of the 4 prongs make me laugh.... almost as funny as the price of an old INsight light.

I haven't even bothered to look...is SureFire's price still up there in the clone market pricing or did they bring the price point down when they brought the 4-prong to the civilian market?

You don't have to do the complete upper, just the upper/handguard combo...probably because the handguard would not line up or look right on any other upper. I did buy this as a complete upper with barrel/old style AXTS BCG/Raptor several years ago. They use a Shilen blank, and they're likely turned by the same people that did RA's Gen 1 UltraMatch barrels.

It's a tack driver for sure.

Is that a 24” Carbon fiber barrel?

60gr Hornady Varmint rounds are quick! 3300fps, .265 BC so it would make a nice groundhog or coyote round if you’re not shooting too too far

75gr BTHP Hornady Black should be a solid round (3000fps/.395 BC). I’ve shot the 75gr ELDs to 600yds easily, 800yds was a stretch but definitely doable

88gr ELD-M is going to be your long distance performer. A tad slower (2700fps) but theyll get you to 1k all day

I wish Hornady made their 80gr ELD-M in a factory offering

The 2925fps 80.5gr Berger by Federal is something I want to try to see if I’ll switch to those versus the 90gr SMK (.504 BC but about 45 cents per bullet) whereas the Berger 80.5gr has a .454 BC and is 35 cents per bullet. My previous comments about the Berger bullet was before more people started using it successfully....probably some early hate due to lack of development etc to find the sweet spot. I’ll give it a go

Started to build the Umbrella black, but the only trigger guard I had was Magpul green. Then I found the green stock. Took that as a sign.

Finally got the coupon Ultramatch finished. Only quibble is the Arisaka finger stop screw contacts the flute ridge. May be able to grind down enough to work.

I had to cut down the MLOK screws on my Magpul bipod on a really narrow MI rail with heavy barrel (20” UM Mod 2). Ran the screw through the MLOK “nut” to chase the threads back out and it’s been fine ever since

I put one in an LMT rifle I got (surprised the OEM LMT trigger was as terrible as it was) and the ACT was a huge upgrade. Got it during the G holiday sales so it was dirt cheap

I have two Mini4 cans. I love them. They are great on a SBR to take the edge off. On both of mine there is minimal POI shift from on and off.

Agree 100% Doc. Normally at the range, I'm shooting with others who don't have cans, so I just want a can to take the edge off. The mini has been super consistent, so I finally started paperwork on another.

Considering I got mine brand new for $50, I have no complaints at all. I was blown away by the sound reduction in such a small package. I know the M4-2000 Was known for its suppression, and being only 1.5” shorter, I imagine the Mini-4 just deleted one baffle.

I want to send it off to ECCO machine in Colorado and get the 51t latch cut off and convert it to Omega threads to run the Plan A and a Minimalist brake to cut down on the weight of the package (The brakeout is pretty bulky)

I do have some axial rotation with the mount but I know that’s not uncommon with the mounting system and also some carbon buildup will help cure that

Well, the can itself was $250 and they paid for the stamp. So I just call it a $50 can since the tax stamp basically came out of the money I gave them....either way, I got incredibly lucky

This is my only AR "pistol", so I don't have any other reference - but this thing is so much fun to shoot. I put in the Brownell's exclusive Geissele B-GRF in it, which is such a great trigger for putting multiple quick shots on target. I highly recommend it.

It shoots great! I haven't done any 5 shot groups with a scope out anything like that. And this particular trigger comes with the warning "not meant for bench rest shooting". But it's had no issues in the hits on target area, it hits like a laser. While I think the three prong FH is a decent design, it puts out some nice fireballs when you put multiple quick rounds on target!

They're still around, last I had heard, they were planning a relaunch, then the pandemic hit, and I think that really hit them in the shorts as far as plans moving forward go. I hope to see more stuff in stock at some point.

I still want to see some billet uppers, new billet lower design, and those CHF Stainless barrels from like 6-7 years ago they previewed.

In a way that’s tempting, but it’s been built up and torn back down twice so isn’t in perfectly new condition, though better than what most places would consider a blem. That said, I keep hanging on to it hoping to eventually do something extra cool with, or complete with other umbrella parts. Would I be willing to part with it...? Ehh.... not for any price anyone would consider reasonable. I’d never be able to replace it.

I still want to see some billet uppers, new billet lower design, and those CHF Stainless barrels from like 6-7 years ago they previewed.

That’s pretty much what I’d like to build out of it. A matching upper, BCG and that barrel. Never saw the preview of it.

In a way that’s tempting, but it’s been built up and torn back down twice so isn’t in perfectly new condition, though better than what most places would consider a blem. That said, I keep hanging on to it hoping to eventually do something extra cool with, or complete with other umbrella parts. Would I be willing to part with it...? Ehh.... not for any price anyone would consider reasonable. I’d never be able to replace it.

I kick myself off never getting one of their sets when they came out. even the mil spec set were done really nicely. are they still in business? I haven't seen any non-grip products from them in forever.

love the vltor stuff. they seem to have lost popularity but I wish they came out with the original CAS-V rail sets again. I can't even find any on the used market. this monolithic upper is really cool too. have any cas-v pics you can post?

I'll have to look. I think I have some CASV stuff still. One on a KINO and one on an old Noveske 14.5"

I still run an SPR-E mount because it’s the best extended mount that’s not almost $400, and with geisseles QC issues I’m hesitant to try their Super Precision extended mount

I've been slowly replacing my Larue mounts with the BO COMM mounts on my LPVO guns. The Larue mounts have worked well though, all these years.

So when did these QA issues start? Or has it been constant. I've been debating on selling one that's a couple of years old.

Seems to be recent with the ramp up in production and simultaneous quality labor shortages. I don’t even know if things like their scope mounts are affected in the same way their barrels have shown issues (their triggers seem to be fine) but makes me nervous as a whole

Gotcha. Yeah, they kind of lost my interest with their announcements of things to come that never came and seeming inability to stock regular items that everyone was trying to buy...all before COVID was a thing.

Yes, but haven't tested it to see how durable it is.

Nice MK12 Mod 1 ish build, I like it!

I had a buddy selling a Rainier rifle with a 16” Ultramatch Shilen in it with MAYBE 100 rounds through. I snagged it since I’ve already got one with about 3k through it, I wanted a spare. I’ll probably toss a BA barrel in it and sell the build, I just wanted the barrel
