I rearranged my back yard gun range. The first white plate on the left is my new 1/2 inch 100 yard plate. The far white plate is a new 1/2 inch 200 yard plate. The black plate is my pistol plate although I can shoot that from my back porch. I try to not scare the dogs though so I only shoot .22LR suppressed from up there. From the back porch to the black plate is I think between 100-125 yards.

The 100 yard plate is at the base of a slope so any misses go right into the dirt. The 200 yard plate is on an up slope. Back in the woods there it's quite a bit higher so if you miss you shoot into the dirt as well. Not to mention there is about 400 to 500++ yards of thick forest to knock anything down, and beyond that you got at least several thousand yards of space. Even if it didn't have trees all over it you couldn't see that far because of the topography.

The pistol plate is up on the side of the bank of a pond so when you are shooting it's about chest high and adjustable height wise. I did it that way so I am not always shooting at targets on the ground.

In another few weeks it will be even more green! I have barely mowed the grass only one time this year so far.

We do hit golf balls in the back. In the other corner opposite the target pictured there is a big cedar tree. I was pretty mean with a 9 iron for a while there. The rest of the clubs not so much [:D]

In the current location there isn't a clear flight path for golf balls [:D]

If I practiced some with the shorter irons I could probably come pretty close from about 150 yards out.

A few years ago we were playing in golf scramble and I kept on telling people "I don't play golf" (which I don't). Anyway on the first hole we had a ball about 150 yards out and I was the first one to go at it. I dropped it right in the hole from the left edge of the fairway. My team spent the rest of the day telling me I was lying LOL!

17 April 2018, 03:22
Our Uncle, as in our Uncle Sam. The planes in that picture are B-17s, which are very rare, and to have two at a show is impressive. The one on the left was just refurbished and painted in the Memphis Belle livery. The one on the right was starting up and taxied next to us, so I snapped a few pics right before we launched. The airshow is Sun 'n Fun in Lakeland, FL. Always a fun show.

Joelski
17 April 2018, 04:15
Two! That's unheard of! Not even in Dayton, and the one on the left is an earlier example, making it even more unusual. Having two great uncles that piloted those birds, I get chills every time I visit one. Surviving 25 missions in one of those earned lots of young men their lifetime badass rating. The ones that didn't make it back earned special wings. God bless them all!

Yeah it was a true dual sport when I bought it. It's a WR250R but I did the supermoto conversion on it because 90% of my riding is on pavement. I have the dirt wheels still so when I wanna go trail riding it is an easy swap. And Misery is right, I thought I would be able to find some where to keep shooting. The only public range is a nightmare. We went there a couple times, last time we visited while we were shooting the guy two spots over just starting walking down range. We immediately stopped and told him to let us know next time, he replied "No it's alright we do this all the time". Multiple people have been robbed at gun point at that range so we don't go anymore. The indoor places think they can charge an arm, leg and testicle for shooting time and ammo (you have to buy their ammo to shoot on their range).

So I only get out to shoot when invited over to Cross Breed holsters or asked to go shoot with DMO Knives.

Sweet ride, bro. I knew it wasn't factory because I have a YZ 450F damn near just like it. The factory DOT stuff isn't close to shops like MSR, who do DOT legal right, without adding 30 lbs of garbagey flab. I would've bought one just like that if they offered it when I was looking for a street legal bike. I'm closer to 70/30 on dualies, but I just like a MX bike better and have never owned a pure street bike. Good luck on finding a place to shoot; you're better off saving up for a chunk of dirt of your own!

If you look right down the center of the photo there is a lane out there that stretches out for a little over a mile. [:D] According to the GPS coordinates I captured it's around 1800 yards line of sight. To that far tree line through that center alley it's something like 1875 yards.

One mile shot hopefully coming up soon. [BD]

Cel phone pic taken this morning from either the target or the shooting position.

BTW the lake is stocked with all kinds of fish so you can go out there and catch as many as you want. Good hunting too. They got all kinds of exotic game. This is about 15 minutes from me. Private ranch, private lake, private shooting range out to 1,400 yards... not too shabby of a setup.

If I am around I can arrange a lot of stuff like that, not just there.

At that place they have Axis deer, Fallow deer, Black Buck, Wildebeest, a whole bunch of different antelope, and a whole lot of other stuff running around there that I can't remember the names of.

It's pretty fun to go there and hang out or go shooting or fishing. I haven't hunted there yet but then again I haven't asked. I do go shooting out there though. I either shoot here at the house or if I want to do something longer I go out there. They maintain a shooting range so all I have to take is guns ammo and spray paint to paint up my targets with after I'm done.

The mile shot though we have to put up a target out there and we also have to make sure no one else is on the property before we can do that.

Those things are really good at what they do. They invaded my upper 40 a few years back and dropped at least 30 mature trees in a short period of time. That was a declaration of war... That smaller one I shot with the rifle was crazy. In the middle of the pond he came up for air and I plugged him and he went down under took a U turn and popped up out of the water up on to the dam 3 feet in front of me! Popped him again. Glad I didn't have the safety on. He turned around and dove back in the water. About 5 minutes later he drifted over to the shore.

Crappy rubber. Whatever Chinese manufacturer made those cheaped out on the raw materials or got hosed from their own suppliers. The soles of the shoes can't be too hard, too soft, and they shouldn't deteriorate when exposed to light. Also some rubber types will slowly emit gas over time so if you just sit them in the closet they will basically dry rot even if you never wear them. They 'should' have a chemical additive to help the make up of the rubber be more stable over long periods of time, but like I said, somebody somewhere dropped the ball.

All signs of cheap rubber components being used. The QC people at the Wolverine company can't test every pair of shoes but they should have specs of what grade of materials that are used. Even the factory that made the shoes won't really know unless they run a complete battery of expensive chemical tests before they buy raw materials which is not always possible, and even then most of those tests are centered around compliance not quality.

The supplier of the supplier probably screwed somebody over, or Wolverine company just said 'it's good enough'. Either way, not good.

I had some Timberlands that did almost that identical same thing. Also, sharp shards of rocks in desert floor, while hunting, finished them off. I'm sure I had less than 30 miles, if that much on them. Wrote company twice (before email days). Never heard back from them. Not sure what happened to them, defective batch, I suppose.

I really don't ever want to be that guy. I was ready to go (retire), knowing I was going to miss the good things but ready to move past the admin BS. Once going terminal, I had a health issue pop up that I thought was going to set me back months. I was already bored the first week of "getting out of bed when I wanted." Fortunately, it's not quite the issue I thought it might be, but still, I'm ready to get back to work and accomplish something...whatever that might be.

I thought I was going to need shoulder surgery, which apparently isn't too big of a deal to the FAA. Unfortunately with the recovery, that would have meant months of recovery while losing currency (and not having a normal paycheck). Thankfully all I need is PT, and I can still safely fly in the interim. Class starts in 3 weeks!

Pain during PT is just weakness leaving the body.

If it's of any consequence my right arm got yanked over the back and chicken boned behind my back and all the way around until my right hand was upside down laying on my left pocket.

After reconstruction, a year of immobility, and a year of therapy I definitely don't want to do that shit again.

My PT was a woman about 5'2 and 100 pounds but a still swear she was trying to kill me.

Depends on what the problem is but range of motion exercises just about killed me.

Good luck man. I'm glad nothing is torn in there. It will likely become chronic though from the sounds of it.

Hers was a '14 and just under the "magic" 50K number. Given the lack of room to move on the '19 RDXs right now, she got a smoking deal. I almost had her in a X3, and she liked the car, but the price increase wasn't worth it, especially since she was an Acura fan (this will be her third SUV, and she's had other Acura cars).

I kept giving her a hard time about wanting another 7-pax car and she finally realized it wasn't worth the premium when it's just us two and the furry lick monster.

Good Tennessee names.

Coondog got her name because she looked like a Black and Tan Coonhound when she was a pup. As a bonus the wife hates the name.

He ate two fillets that were on the counter coming to room temp. He's eaten almost a whole large pizza that was on the counter. He was also caught on the dining room table with his face in a birthday cake.

Those are the big ones but the list goes on.

I am sure he used a chair to get on the table but we're still not sure how he got things off the counter.

And he steels food from the kids every chance he gets.

Decided to try an "authentic" cured ham. Nobody would eat it. Tasted like 5lbs of salt in a 10lb ham. Horrible.
Somehow the dog got that ham off the kitchen counter during the night and ate the whole thing right down to the bone.

When I saw the dog the following morning she didn't look right, kinda bloated. Didn't think much if it until I entered the kitchen and noticed the meat tray on the floor. Sick for a week... darn near ate herself to death but I'm sure it was quit a thrill for her that night.

One of my friends a long time ago had a crazy beagle that he would leave at home bored in an apartment all day. That dog ate the stuffing out of the sofa once. It looked like it snowed in his living room. Another time he literally chewed the wooden leg off of one of the dining room chairs so it was about 4 inches shorter than the rest.

The funniest though was when the dog figured out how to open the fridge. He had a 12 pack in there and the dog gnawed holes in the cans and beer spewed everywhere. We found Sam (we called him SamDog) was passed out on the floor with beer cans and cardboard all over the floor with the fridge door hanging wide open. When we woke him up he just started barking and howling at us like he was crazy but he still couldn't walk straight. He was barking like he was coming after us but he walked sideways right into the cabinets and fell over and started howling.

After that David (the owner) had to start securing the fridge door with a big security strap while he was at work.

I still laugh my ass off when I think about that.

I remember driving through a small Appalachian town in eastern Tennessee (maybe Townsend / Wears Valley area?) about 7 years ago when my wife and I stopped into a local country restaurant for dinner. The special that evening was a Country Ham plate so I ordered it. The waitress clearly sensed that we weren't locals so she spent a few minutes explaining exactly what Country Ham is that I might want to consider ordering something else. I stuck with it and enjoyed it, but I'm sure having the warning helped me properly prepare my tasted buds. Had a similar event when I was in Germany in the 90's, but the dish amounted to head cheese, so I heeded the warning and chose something else besides the "special" that day.

Yep, I don't eat it often, don't need that much salt. Done really good, it's got a slightly sweet flavor under that saltiness. I usually order it for breakfast, eggs, country ham and biscuits and gravy with a side of fried apples. usually served in a few, or one big thin slice about 1/8 or so inches thick. Usually not for city folks;) Actually on most breakfast menu's it's called country ham, and the standard ham is called "city ham", just to differentiate between the two.

Thanks guys! I took about 10 GB worth of photos so I have a lot more. Those two were just some samples but I definitely appreciate the opinions. For about all of no more than 2 or 3 minutes of post processing I think those look alright. If I decide to take some time with them I am sure I could do better.

Every time I go somewhere, after I am back I just pick two or three photos and process those so I can safely say that I have hundreds and hundreds of GB of photos that I haven't even tried to post process yet from various places around the world.

With these though I wanted to do a little something different rather than just a plain vanilla sky shot.

BTW if you have never been to Bandera I would highly recommend it.
