It’s a mile to the cabin from the county road. The plows on the county road are nice enough to leave a three foot berm before I can even think of getting in the first gate. I got half way there on the first day (pretty much right were I buried the truck and left it) and then had to pull out the snow shoes and sled and break trail the rest of the way. 20” of snow just from the previous weekend. Once I got to the cabin I had 2 feet of snow on the deck I had to remove so I could get in and finally get a fire going, slept 12 hours... Day two I got within a hundred yards of my front gate. Snowzilla was kicking my ass. Day 3, had trouble getting traction with the snow blower and threw in the towel. Just added a 40lb. weight to the front end yesterday which will help with the front end riding up. It’s a humbling experience when you have to put all your clothes on, then strap on your snowshoes just to go take a crap on a 20 degree toilet seat in the middle of the night... But the view from the privy is priceless!! We just got another 10 inches up there and I get to go back and do it again next weekend. When I finally move out to the country I am getting a full size truck and a snow plow...

Wow Stone, 40 lbs? Just 10 pounds on my Ariens made a big diff last year. Of course I’m in town so I never let it get so deep. Damn tranny went kaput before Thanksgiving and it’s still not fixed. Shoveling that wet November stuff was a back killer. But at least I’ll get to enjoy the added heated hand grips when it’s finally done.

P.S. A few years ago I got a fancy machine with cat-tracks. Unbelievably bad traction. The wide footprint acts like snowshoes. Great brake turning though.

Yeah the weight kit Toro sells was 34lbs but they wanted $160.00 for it. Theres a local metal shop that cut the bar steel for me and that was $45.00. The hardware was $5 at HD so all I had to do was drill a few holes and save $110. Those spiked hog chains dig in pretty good except on the steeper uphills where the front end was riding up on me. I hope 40lbs. is enough...

I think it's all a matter of perspective. Ours is pretty smooth, and quieter than the inside of a -60. It's also a 1/4 the weight of a -60, so it tends to get bumped around more.

When I recently sold my KTM 450 XC-F dirt bike, I sat on a new Duke 390 at the dealership. I fell in love instantly and bought one the next day [:)]

After a gnarly accident in 2006, I vowed not to ride on the street anymore.

But I just can't help myself. I love riding more than anything.

Here's my 2017 KTM Duke 390. I installed a Leo Vince midpipe and Powertronics ECU, otherwise she's stock. Absolutely my favorite motorcycle ever (and I've had MANY):

Thanks! While I was probably standing in black tail poop while taking this picture, I've never seen anything legal to shoot (for firearm) come out of the wood line you see at the back of this photo. About 8-10 does come through every evening/night. I've seen sign for deer, elk, bear, coyote, beaver, and even mountain lion on the property. And the river back in the trees is full of salmon right now. I'll put more energy (and a game cam) into scouting for next year but this year I was more focused on other projects. If/when I do hunt the property, I'm sure I'll need to set up back in the woods. This is about where I drop my shooting bench for 100 yards into that small berm you see in the depression over on the left side of the photo. I spent the weekend out there with the kids and took this picture close to sunset right before we left and headed home.

I'll insulate, dry wall it. There is a ton of space in there, so I'll use that for storage. I plan to hang some ULINE bins in there to organize small parts and there's room on the other side with a notch for a bench for some light assembly.

Man, as a framer/carpenter forever..friendly advice is watch that floor,if that’s standard 3/4 sub flooring ,being soaked for months is gonna play hell once it starts drying out.

As in, if it’s not solid after dried in, your gonna want to have them replace it..btdt

Please tell me they finished framing. I did residential wood framing for 10 years and to be honest your house is a two week job with a 6-7 man crew at most... The roof sheathing is a priority so you can get the roofing felt on so its fairly dried in. Then you go after the interior punch list stuff.

Gunroom Progress.

Had the safe guys come out and do a walk through before my door gets installed. Talk about supply chain issues. Ordered my Liberty vault door in June, it arrived in December, and it'll be Feb before they can install it.

Waiting to get other areas of the house settled before I throw on the Gallowtech so this will probably be another 6 month process getting everything arranged. Desktops backordered till the first of March. But a few updated progress photos.

So got the vault door delivered and installed. This door was $2999 in July of 2021. It finally arrived at the local dealer in December. Due to some supply chain issues and inflation, this same door is going for $4500. Unreal.
