When Steven Seagal's movie "Fire Down Below" held it's world premier in 1997, it was held in Nashville, Tennessee - I guess because of the country music associated with it. Anyway, Mr. Seagal's personal security team selected a local security company to provide security at the theater where the premier was being held. Before he became a LEO, my other son (not Griffonsec) owned a security company, and his company was selected for that job. He asked me to be the videographer for the event - a few video cameras strategically placed to capture any untoward action that might occur. Nothing happened, but we got to meet Mr. Seagal and the local newspaper photographer took this shot of me and my son together. One of my favorites with him.

Nice picture. I lived in Nashville during that time. 1996 - 1999. I worked for CMT and TNN. I lived in the Hermitage area, off of Old Lebanon Dirt Rd. I liked Nashville a lot.

Thanks. The Premier was held at the Hickory Hollow Mall Cinema in Antioch, TN - a suburb in Metro Nashville. We are from Nashville originally. We were always happy in middle Tennessee, a nice area.

so the background... this one from the 'no $hit there I was..." books.

We just did our 2nd annual 'Seward Silver' trip with some family. We were fishing out of Seward almost 2 hours and had awesome weather/water. We were fishing near an island, about 100ft from rock cliffs. We had Killer Whales pass between us and the cliffs, we had a Humpback whale feeding all around us for the entire time, there were some Stellar sea lions on the rocks, and the silvers were biting hard and fast.

BUT... here's the 'there I was' moment. My brother in law Rick hooked a feisty silver salmon, just as I was dropping my bait down. But, before I could stop and reel mine in to help net his fish, I hooked a feisty silver too. So my other brother-in-law Tim reels his line in halfway, and sets his rod down on the deck of the boat. Rick's fish is all over, jumping and pulling line. Mine is doing the same, and trying to go under the boat and also ran behind the boat and got tangled in the line from Tim's rod which was sitting on the boat. Then it ran the other way, HARD, and literally pulled Tim's rod from the bottom of the boat overboard into the water!

Tim reached for it, but as he was streeeeeetching out to get it I hollered to let it go as it was tangled and not going to be lost. While Tim was reaching for the rod, the net was knocked into the water. When Tim stopped reaching for the rod he was able to get the net before it sank. All the while, Rick's fish is jumping and running and pulling, putting on quite a show. Mine was all tangled not only with Tim's rod/line but now Rick's fish too, but still there. Rick got his fish next to the boat and Tim netted it, and mine was close by so he got my fish in the net at the same time.

What a tangled mess!! And, the rod was recovered too as it was so tangled with my line/fish. So while we were untangling everything and trying to separate the lines, Tim was grabbing the line from his rod trying to get it free and realized there was a fish on that line too!! It was NOT there when he set the rod down, so sometime while it was floating around tangled with my fish it hooked a fish on it's own!!

The first photo is netting the two fish together, BEFORE we knew of the third. Note the rod hanging from the net! That's the one that was 'lost' overboard. The second shows all three fish.

Seriously... we needed clown car music playing while this was going on. I can only imagine what the other boats were thinking while we were hooting, hollering and laughing!

For what you get, not really. It's a good price. $140/year and that includes family. You can bring visitors. They have a lake and campground.

You do have to put in like 16 hours of work also, or pay an additional sum of money.

First a little bit of background: Every year on the 4th of July we have a family reunion at an old school house that was originally hand built back in the year 1900 as a grade 1-7 school. It's since been rebuilt or restored (they even put in some air conditioning and plumbing) but they tried to keep it as close as possible to historical fact. It's where many of my way backs all went to school. They used to have places to tie up horses (and feed and water them) out front. The walls in this little building are all covered with photos of as many students there that they could find.

One of my direct ancestors fought along side General Sam Houston at the Battle of San Jacinto and for his efforts he was awarded a 'league and a labor of land' (approximately 4605 acres) which is still in my family, which is near where this is located and basically where I am at now. Anyway I was standing in line to get my food (pot luck as always) and I snapped a picture of one of my cousins.

Anyway I am learning to take pictures of people and trying to get better at seeing and recognizing lighting and such. This is 100% natural light coming through some windows. The 'lines' in the background are the wood slats they used to cover the walls with.

Thank you. I have been trying to learn how to 'read the light' and recognize when it will be good or no good etc etc. Slowly learning.

Like I said, there was absolutely no artificial light in that picture at all.

Had the opportunity to attend the Barefoot National Championship over the past two days. I used to compete in barefooting a really long time ago but I had a really bad injury that ended all of my waterskiing.

There are three events, slalom, trick, and jump. All skiing is done without skis of any kind and on a 75 foot long rope.

In recent years they started using a tall tower I guess because it's a bit more fun and it makes it easier on the passengers in the boat.

The ramp is 18" from the surface of the water and the Open Pro Men's regularly sees jumps in the 80-90 foot range. The world record I think is 98 feet. The maximum boat speed during the jumping event is 44.5 mph. If you don't land it and ski away it doesn't count.

Here is a shot showing the boat and a skier that is about to start. Note the tower attached to the boat. This is not absolutely needed to barefoot at all. Using a tower is actually a fairly new thing. I know people are going to ask, but no, you do not need any skis to get started. You can do deep water starts numerous different ways with just the rope and a specialized padded wet suit.
