I am ready to start trying to my AR but I can't find the Lower Receiver I originally wanted. What are some of the Lowers to stay away from. I know that alot of people are trying to sell their junk and I am trying not to buy it. The prices are starting to drop some, so I will get what I can when I find a reasonable price. I have came across some CMMG, New Frontier, High Standard, DPMS and Bushmaster, but am not real sure about them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, JT

Stripped or assembled lower?

My personal opinion is to stay away from polymer. Also, I've come to the conclusion that more lowers than not are from the same maker(s) and as such your only real choice is the roll mark you care to see on your rifle. With that said, I expect someone more knowledgeable on the specifics to elaborate on my simplification of the subject.

Here are two currently in stock.

I want a stripped lower, but if I find the right one assembled I will get it.

I picked up a High Standard lower today and it has a tight mag well. Based on that alone I would stay away from them.

Can anyone speak to the validity of the first post on this thread? Not a member there, just happened to come across it.

Unfortunately that's an old list and several things have changed in the market. It does go to prove that only a handful of machine shops make all the lowers. However, each end user specifies different standards from those machine shops.
