Trijicon announces a new MIL-specification optic named the Variable Combat Optical Gunsight (VCOG). According to Trijicon on their VCOG website page, the VCOG is a 1– 6 variable power scope with a 24mm objective lens and a red LED illuminated first focal plane bullet drop compensating reticle. The LED is powered by a single lithium or alkaline AA battery. The lithium battery will power the LED for up to 700 hours continuous use.

Listing a total of 14 available variants of the scope, consumers can choose between integrated quick release or thumbscrew mounts with the following reticle options:

- Segmented Circle / Crosshair 5.56 / 55 Grain Ballistic Reticle
- Segmented Circle / Crosshair 5.56 / 77 Grain Ballistic Reticle
- Horseshoe Dot / Crosshair 5.56 / 55 Grain Ballistic Reticle
- Horseshoe Dot / Crosshair 5.56 / 77 Grain Ballistic Reticle
- Segmented Circle / Crosshair 7.62 / 175 Grain Ballistic Reticle
- Horseshoe Dot / Crosshair 7.62 / 175 Grain Ballistic Reticle
- Segmented Circle / Crosshair 300 BLK Ballistic Reticle

Other specifications include:

- Forged 7075-T6 aircraft aluminum alloy housing
- Waterproof to 66 feet (20m)
- Integrated fin on magnification dial
- Six LED brightness settings
- Four-inch constant eye relief
- 18.0 – 3.0° field of view or 95 – 15.9 ft. @ 100 yards (31.7 – 5.3m @ 100m)
- 1 click @ 100m = ˝ inch adjustments
- Dimensions of (L x W x H) 10.05 x 2.51 x 2.73 inches (255 x 64 x 69mm)
- Weight of 23.2 oz. (657.7g) (without mount or battery)

The VCOG is projected to be available in August 2013.
