Apparently the Magpul B.A.D lever will not work on the S&W M&P 15 Mid MOE MagPul Spec series rifle. The finger shelf on the left side of the receiver gets in the way of the operation of the lever.

I wonder if a Phase 5 Tactical (http://www.phase5tactical.com/products/ar15-m16/ebrv2-) lever would work better.

Don't know if I will run into the same situation. There is a finger shelf on the lower that keeps the lever from operating correctly.

Gonna take a spare paddle and the lever over to the guys at the fab shop see if they can mill me out something that will work with my receiver.

A friend had the same problem with the BAD lever but the Battery Assist Lever from Tactical Link worked like a charm. The handful of items I'm using from Tactical Link have all been solid performers. I've contemplated the BAD lever and all the other similarly functioning devices and I've at least made up my mind that if I ever do decide to make that change, it will be a Battery Assist Lever.

I will see if the design team can come up with something to replace the bolt catch paddle and make one piece system that will replace the paddle and the lever. If not I will give each of the ones you both have linked. Hell worst case scenario is I have 2 spare Battery Assist Devices for later builds. :)

I had to use the phase-5 tactical on my LWRC carbine and SBR for a different reason. The back of the Magpul BAD lever would not clear the upper receiver tube. They are nice one-piece units and easily clear a KNS dogbone. Not sure if your finger shelf sticks out more than that though.

Cropped a close-up to show the clearance. Hope it helps.

Can you "mike" the width of the lower where the shelf is? If you can give me that measurement, I can measure my clearance for you.

I have had a tripped planned to go to California since January to visit friends and family namely my brother who is stationed at Beale AFB, CA 9th Security Forces Squadron. This is very close to where Phase 5 Tactical is located. I gave them a call inquired and was told one of their levers would fit the M&P 15. Was going to place the order online but realized how close they are. Gave them a call back and they said I could come in and pick one up if I scheduled an appointment for the visit. So this Monday @ 10AM I will be walking their facility and picking up a few levers. I will see if I can get pics during my tour. Either way they have given me excellent customer service so far.

You could pop your lower on a mill and remove some of that finger shelf. I dare not say a dremel because of how it'll look when most people attack something with the dremel, but you can clean it up with a dremel after milling the shelf away in the appropriate areas. Couldn't you strategically bend the bad lever to clear the shelf?

I could mill it out but prefer not to. Since I am going to Cali to visit and Phase 5 is practically next door, and recommended by another user why not give them a try. I can use the B.A.D lever on the AR I will be building for the wife. Just ordered her a UCWRG receiver set on Tuesday. That should be a fun build.

I'll second the suggestion of going with Tactical Link. These things are bullet proof and feel way more solid than the BAD lever.

Went to Phase 5 Tactical today. Met with Kyle and he was more than generous to help me out. We picked up my EBR v2 Lever and also picked up an ejection port cover for the wife's AR. Got to see a couple of their in development items as well. The new 13.5" rail they have is really nice. Going to have to see the finished product but from what I did see might be changing my mind on if I am going to use a Fortis REV 14" Rail. They have a really nice muzzle brake as well. Kyle did mention that the brake is super load compared to other devices but rise and recoil are reduced drastically. They deal mostly with LEO and Military contracts but items are available to the general public. They just moved into a new building started all of the machining in house. Follow them on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Phase-5-Tactical/160629057305963?fref=ts). Kyle does all the social media and said Facebook and Instagram are the best ways to keep in touch with what they have going on till the new website goes live. They have just started producing uppers and barrels. I personally look forward to see what they come out with.

Thanks Triple Bravo - I went to their site and this appears to be an excellent piece of equipment. If you go to the page to order the lever and scroll about halfway down, there is a moving diagram beside the "Low Drag Contour" paragraph that shows the lever to have better clearance than the BAD or Phase-5 (just eyeballing the picture only). I like the looks, and the design looks rock solid. At $27 may just have to try one.

You should have told them to hang out on the forum and give us regular updates [:D]
