The other day somebody asked me which 30 round Pmags to buy. They were apparently expecting a detailed rundown of the Pmag variants, but I simply stated that they all work fine and to pick up whatever they get the best deal on. This did get me thinking though that perhaps it would be helpful to have a few photos comparing the three more common versions that are available.

Briefly, the Gen M2 MOE is the previous Rev M mag, minus the dust cover (which are available separately for those that must have them). The Gen M3 is redesigned for greater compatibility with non-Colt platforms (FN SCAR, HK 416, MK 16, SA-80 and such), has more aggressive texturing, a slimmer floorplate, an over-insertion tab and a dot matrix to ID mags (use a paint pen). Dust covers, floorplates and followers are not interchangeable between the Gen M3 and others.

Gen M2 MOE (part #MAG571), Rev M (part #MAG211) and Gen M3 (part #MAG557).

What? No Gen1?
Yeah, not so much. Although, they are still great mags, just not in the current supply chain. Even the Rev M stores are drying up.
