I have a CAR two piece handguard (slim, not round fat M4 handguard) on my AR15 and wanted to add a rail section in the six o'clock position. I was wondering if anyone had experience with Fulton's Handguard Rail (http://www.fulton-armory.com/handguardaccessoryrail6fa2orstdcarhandguards.aspx) or with rail sections like it that they could recommend. I heard AAC use to make some but stopped and GG&G's do not fit certain handguards.

Thanks.

Deckard, any reason you are going with the rail piece, vs a rail of some kind?

I only ask because I didn't have a Fulton one, but I did have some other off-branded one I used on my first duty gun. It wobbled because my handguards wobbled. It drove me nuts.

I want to add a small VFG (Magpul RVG) to my AR but can't justify buying a free-float or two piece rail to add one (Magpul MOE an exception since it's inexpensive). I found MI (http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Midwest-Industries-MCTAR-03-p/mctar-03.htm) sections at BCM's site and might try them out. At ~$20 it's not a big loss if it doesn't work out. Hopefully it doesn't wobble.

Why not just go with the Magpul handguards?

I like the thickness of the CAR handguards and I have never held a MOE. If this doesn't work I'll pick one up.

Carbine or Mid Length?

I was just trying to see if I had some extra Magpul Handguards in the parts bin to send you [:D]

It's okay you don't have to. Thanks for the help though.

Fine then... lucky for you, I only had an extra set of Mid-length ones [BD]

Thanks again, I'll update once I get the section if anyone is interested in knowing.

It was not a Fulton, but I tried one and had the same experience (wobble). I went with a MI Free-Floater. The rail piece actually worked very well, but the handguards were the issue.

Jerry,

You hit the nail on the head. Unless you somehow got handguards that were rock solid, there is going to be some wobble. The rail maybe very secure to the handguard, but the handguard will never be secure enough in my opinion.

I think Magpul MOE carbine handguards are around $25, so really not much more than you were already going to spend.

Thanks guys. I'll just go with MOE handguards.
