Strike Industries (http://strikeindustries.com/shop/index.php/) has their own KeyMod (http://strikeindustries.com/shop/index.php/rifle-enhancements/ar15-platform/mitch-handguard/mega-fins-ak-modular-key-mod-handguard-rail.html) rails now, available in 7 different lengths. These feature 45 degree KeyMod slots as well, which is surprising at this price point. Several different colors are also available. Checkout their website for more information on the Mega Fins Rails (http://strikeindustries.com/shop/index.php/rifle-enhancements/ar15-platform/mitch-handguard/mega-fins-ak-modular-key-mod-handguard-rail.html).

Description:

The Strike Industries Mega Fins (http://strikeindustries.com/shop/index.php/rifle-enhancements/ar15-platform/mitch-handguard/mega-fins-ak-modular-key-mod-handguard-rail.html) hand guard rail is an ultra light weight handguard rail with a plethora of features. Our Mega Fins (http://strikeindustries.com/shop/index.php/rifle-enhancements/ar15-platform/mitch-handguard/mega-fins-ak-modular-key-mod-handguard-rail.html) rail is named after the “fins” that surround the rifle’s barrel. The purpose of these fins is to help dissipate the heat generated from the rifle barrel. The Mega Fins features a full 7 sided (heptagonal) Keymod system. This translates into full placement of rail sections and furniture at every angle. We’ve taken every step to insure our hand guard is ergonomic and supremely light weight without sacrificing durability or quality. The Mega Fins come is a variety of lengths: 7” 9” 10” 11” 12” 12.5 and 15”. I like the look of the barrel nut and included wrench...would like to see how easy the install is.

Take a look at step 6 and 7 in the installation guide. Apparently you have to install the barrel nut, then the rail, then the gas block. If your gas block isn't a clamp on style or the securing screws aren't accessible through the keymod slots in the rail, then you have to try a different one (and of course they recommend using their own branded gas block).

I guess the fins on the inside of the rail reduce the clearance by a huge amount.

Installing the gas block after the rail makes this to me a 100% No-Go

100% agreed. That just spells problems with making sure that the gas block is properly aligned. Definitely not using the KISS method. Reinventing the wheel to a square because it takes less cuts does not make it a better wheel.

They have an end-on picture on their site at http://strikeindustries.com/shop/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/0f396e8a55728e79b48334e699243c07/6/d/6d.jpg. Based on that, and some of the dimension restrictions they show in the manual, I highly doubt even a shaved FSB with as much material removed as possible would fit through there.

No easy way to line up the gas port, no way to pin the gas block, and heavy barrels might not fit. I wasn't even able to find their low profile gas block on their site, but I did find a full line of dummy suppressors. [crazy]

Looking at their stuff on the website, it looks like really low end stuff.

From looking at the pictures, it looks pretty straight forward. I don't believe you have to wait to install the gas block last.
