While there is a lot of info available on the FN-FAL, there isn't too much written about it's little brother, the FNC. I understand that due the H.W.B import ban, there aren't too many available on the used market.

Does any FN rifle aficionado have a comment on this armslist ad? http://www.armslist.com/posts/1895306/st-louis-missouri-rifles-for-sale--unfired--fabrique-nationale---fn-fnc-5-56mm-rifle

I used FN's of both calibers quite a bit back in the 70's and early 80's. The FAL was great for its time, and the FNC is a mini-me of the FAL. Heavier than it needs to be for 5.56, but it still has the very good FN quality. It is a dated piece and given the choice, I would spend less and get better, maybe a PredatAR.

The attraction to FNCs is the cheapness with which they are rendered automatic. I have heard that there are more registered FNC auto-sears in the US than there are FNC, last I looked, a registered sear could be had for about $5K. The hard part has always been finding an FNC.
