Recently, while sitting in the offices of Fortis Manufacturing (http://www.fortismfg.com), I noticed a prototype charging handle they are developing on the CEO's desk. They call the charging handle the "hammer" and it's easy to see why. It's very thick and beefy. It looks as if you could literally hammer a nail in with either side. The handles on both sides are extended as well as the latch on the left side for the right handed shooters. These are made from Billet 7075 aluminum. They should be available in the next 30 days. Stay tuned.

Description:

The new Fortis MFG Hammer™ charging handle stays true to our brand. We engineer, design and develop military grade accessories that look good and functions great. Test and evaluated by the 3 Gun community, then put to the test by people in the military and law enforcement community. We continuously refined our design and came up with the Hammer™.

Machined from 7075 T6 Billet aluminum, the Hammer™ is an operator’s grade charging handle. The robust design as well as aggressive serrations on the latch and body support use with either shooting gloves or without. Never lose grip of your charging handle again. We even redesigned a back stop for the latch so stress is taken off the roll pin. Try our new operator’s grade charging handle offered to the commercial market. The Fortis Hammer™ doesn’t disappoint. So charge your rifle by dropping the Hammer™ and go!

MSRP $69.95

Well, too late. Appears it's already sold out, and a name and email requested to be notified when they are available again. I guess that probably puts an end to the introductory price, too. Oh well, standard procedure for my luck.

The Fortis Manufacturing (http://www.fortismfg.com/) Hammer is now available in a Black Teflon Finish. These are still coating in their proprietary "Nickelene" to keep the surface slick. Checkout the new black teflon Hammer's at Fortis Manufacturing (http://www.fortismfg.com/).

Description:

Introducing our black teflon finish. The slick finish is smooth and gives the already durable charging handle a unique finish that's not common in the market today.

Specifications:

Machined from 7075 T6 Billet aluminum
The robust design as well as aggressive serrations on the latch and body support use with either shooting gloves or without
Redesigned the back stop for the latch, so stress is taken off the roll pin
Finished in Nickelene™: Rockwell hardness - 45C, low co-efficient of friction, excellent lubricity characteristics
1.5 oz - durable, yet extremely light

**The finish isn't a true black anodized color. It's a nickel teflon and has metallic grey properties. We believe it to be darker than gunmetal grey, yet not a true black.
