As a left handed rifle shooter, I'm always in search of the latest and greatest ambi lowers out there. This is about the only thing that gets me excited to try new lowers. The San Tan Tactical (http://www.santantactical.com/) STT-15 isn't just another lower that has a bolt catch for right handed shooters and calls them "ambi." According to San Tan Tactical (http://www.santantactical.com/), here is the "most advanced, yet simple AR lower receiver ever made."

Checkout San Tan Tactical here (http://www.santantactical.com/stt-15-lower-reciever.html), or their new Facebook page here (https://www.facebook.com/SanTanTactical).

Description:

We designed this lower receiver out of necessity and a desire to have a true ambidextrous AR-15 \ M4 platform. Allowing it to accommodate any and all shooters without the need to add countless costly add-ons. Whether you are a right or left handed shooter, or forced to shoot with your off hand, the STT-15 (http://www.santantactical.com/stt-15-lower-reciever.html) has you covered! STT-15 is designed specifically for situations in which there's no room for error and you must use your rifle to take that shot!

We machine the STT-15 (http://www.santantactical.com/stt-15-lower-reciever.html) directly from a billet of 7075-T651 aerospace grade American aluminum on our brand new Haas CNC machinery. This allows us to hold ultra-tight tolerances and make sure that the final product is exactly as designed. The finished receiver is then finished in Mil-Spec, MIL-A-8625 Type III hard anodizing.

Even though this is a tool to some it is a show stopper to others! The final finish is every bit as important as the features and materials the lower consist of! The STT-15 is everything you have come to expect from a San Tan Tactical, and then some. The STT-15 is your final answer in the AR \ M4 firearms platform!

I rarely get excited about Yet Another Lower, but this one is nice! I absolutely love the integrated sling attachment points.

"Dowel Screw Assembly." - Does this refer to the bolt catch installation?

Click on the hot links to their website, I believe there are several pictures of the other side. Or ask Stick, he may have some floating around somewhere.

San Tan Tactical has updated their ambi bolt release after a lot of feedback from users/customers. For those that have already purchased a San Tan STT-15 lower, don't fear, they are sending out replacement bolt catches at no additional cost. Here's the message they sent out:

Here at San Tan Tactical we appreciate everyone's feedback, good bad and indifferent.

We have several operators durability testing the STT-15 and while there is nothing wrong with the current release. Some of them had mentioned they wished the ambidextrous bolt release was beefier, while being lower profile. That might sound like an oxymoron but we got to work and did just that!

Check out the new Ambi-bolt release!

For the folks that already have the STT-15 don't worry. We are going to mail you the updated lever at no cost!

In a market full of choices we guarantee if your not happy you will be when we are thru!

Looks like you'll have to give them a call if you want a blem Lower without a Logo. They just started producing non-logo'ed lowers, so there aren't as many blem ones available.

I am really interested in an STT-15, however the drop down(s) on San Tan's site are less than desirable. You can only read about 1/2--2/3's of what the drop down options actually are. I think I've figured out what the cut off portions are. And it looks like they no longer offer a non-logo option? is that correct?

Just a quick technical question to those who've already purchased lowers. Do the take down pins come already installed? I read some reviews from last year, which complain about the pin instal and having to cut the springs (on the EPS pins) etc....

I could do without the QD swivel built into the reciever, but a cool option for those who run their sling attachment point on the receiver.....

Rainier Arms still has the 45* safety with no logo. https://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=4475

Have you called San Tan to see if they still offer the 90* safety with no logo? I'd start with that if the 45* won't work for you.

Hello LCS0264,

Thanks for your question and I want to apologize for the drop down boxes being hard to read. I will get with our web guy and see what I can do to make that easier to read.

As far as the logo and no logo version lowers go. We still offer both, however we have been out of stock on the no logo versions for a few days. A new batch of the 45° version, no logo STT-15's just came in from anodizing. we will be going thru them and get them up on the site shortly. The 90° no logo version is still in production so those will be a few weeks out still.

In regards to your question about the takedown pins; we made them a captured spring so that when changing your stock or in the case of the STT-15 your pistol grip your not chasing that little spring. the only side effect of that is in order to make room for the set screw you will need to trim approximately 1/4-3/8 of an inch off the back end.

If you nave any questions please feel free to shoot me an email Questions@Santantactical.com and I can get you dialed in.

Again I apologize for your troubles with the site but we can get you squared away.[:D]

Your going to like what will be arriving shortly! Stay tuned[:D]

Thank you for the prompt reply, I'll be contacting you in the very near future....

I'm so glad I found this thread! This will be my first venture into building an AR and also my first venture into the platform. I've been looking for the right upper and lower and have found a few that I've liked but nothing ever really screamed this is the one. Once I started reading about the San tan lower, I fell in love. As I was browsing the website, I quickly became disappointed that they didn't offer an upper to match. Now that I see there is one in the works, and with the quality of the lower you already make, I'm twice as excited! And hey, if you need someone to test run one and give some feedback on possible improvements I wouldn't be against giving one a try, if you know what I'm sayin' haha but put me on the waiting list, I'll be one of the first to order and I hope you keep this thread updated on the release date of this upper!

San Tan Tactical released a little preview of their new matching Billet Upper.

First 100 will be available through Revolvr this week I believe.

The upper is as sexy as the lower, but looks like it's as expensive too.

Is it at least going to come with the upper parts kit installed? How about variants like non-FA?

Hey Kevin,

Is is going to include the forward assist and port door!

But don't let those sexy lines scare you. MSRP is only $229.99

Keep an eye on Revolver. They are going to do a pretty amazing intro!

While you're here Dennis, I have a question. My STT lower will drop loaded mags if I shake the rifle back n forth in a left to right motion. Not in a violent manner either. Any suggestions?

I encountered a similar problem, any movement of the carbine would cause the mag to drop free. It's an out of spec mag catch, improperly press-fit during component assembly.

Contact Dennis through the San Tan web site (https://www.santantactical.com/contacts) for faster response. I'm sure he'll get you squared away. He offered to install a new catch for me - but I thought it was just easier to handle myself. A replacement was mailed and the new catch has been fine so far.

Good luck.

Has anyone heard from San Tan Tac lately? I sent them an email, to which they are generally very prompt in returning, but have heard nothing. I also noted someone mentioning a similar issue in the STT upper thread.

I got my lower recently. I got in OD Green, and it looks incredible! The fit it perfect, fits tight with my German upper. I am super impressed with the fit/finish and quality of the STT15 lower......
