If I'm correct and that knife sells for $500, well it's definitely a sweet design, and I hope they have great luck selling cases of them. The screws are timed to face the same direction, and that shows a lot of hand work and attention to detail, I would love to have one, but at about half it's current cost.

Nice knife! True craftsmanship with the screw slots indexed ! You caught that too. Years ago, custom rifle builders, and pistol smiths could usually draw attention to their work, by that one thing that you could catch with your first glimpse. If they went to that much trouble, you could usually count on the rest of the work to be as perfection oriented. Those gunsmiths, I'm afraid, are a dying breed.

I was seriously considering picking that knife up until I saw it was AUS8 steel. For that coin I expected a S30V or VG-10 blade material. How well does that blade hold an edge with that steel? I have 2 Emersons with AUS8 steel blades that get straight razor sharp but horrible for retention of the edge.

Remember, this isn't a utility knife.

Two times it should used - once is for checking its sharpness and the other is on people.

It comes with a trainer for a reason.

Survival, body armor, hell, heavy cardboard dulls carbon steels, nevermind cordura that most vests and carriers are made from. Even the grind matters. Micro bevels help thick stock, a medium coarse hone wears better than a super fine one, and so forth. The people that strop their edge to a mirror shine don't know they're creating a less durable edge. Knowing where to strike and having a fighting style gives a person more than an edge (pun), but by the same method a stick can be used just as effectively in the hands of a trained fighter. Walk into a room and look at what you would kill a person with if you had to...

I probably like the Triple Black the best of the two. They are essentially the same model, but the steel makes them very different. The Niolox is Germany's version of D2, with more Niobium to make it have better stainless properties. It is a lot harder to sharpen than the Elmax on the Mr. DP model. Elmax is kind of weird, in that it never "feels" as sharp as it is, knowing you can put a good edge on a blade. It does clean up and take an edge a lot easier than the Niolox steel, though. Both are based on the HEST F/2.0 folder.

I love the halftrack size for EDC. Though compact, the handle fits well in my medium-sized hands for most tasks. Clip is smooth in and out and of course one-handed operation. It has heft too which inspires confidence.

CO legalized autos again late last year so I’m looking for that design in my next purchase. I wish RHK made autos.

An BM infidel micro looks good too (full size is to long to carry legally here). What are drawbacks of OTF autos?You wouldn't want a cheapie to fire in your pocket! Microtechs are good stuff and many come with a kydex guard. Check your state law to verify double edges are good to go. BM makes the Infidel in a single edge version as well.

I've only seen the ZT version of the MUDD, and it's out of production. Very slick!

No, that's that Strider SMF.

I lucked into it. Normally, I don't have a lot of cash when they post drops, and when they do, their website shits its pants and You never know who will get what, or if your order will be accepted. They've had the worst luck with hosting and vending software and they've tried to remedy it, so I can't fault them.

Anyway, a buddy ordered on this particular drop and fat fingered the order, but unlike Jerry, who we all know is as rich as Rich [:D] kept his spare Glock, my buddy sold this to me for what he paid for it. The secondary market is murder on Striders and full of drama. They're a brand you either like or hate, with very little in-between. But one thing is certain, if you score a new MSC made Strider, you scored a ticket to ass-rape the next guy who wants to buy one.

That said, I use mine. I keep a couple of them nice, kind of a Sunday knife, but I don't flip for profit like some people do. It makes me mad and I'm not the one paying!
