I'm not sure how long the ODIN Works XMR (http://www.odinworks.com/ODIN_Works_XMR_p/acc-xmr.htm) has been out, but I just discovered these and am very pleased with the way they function. For $20 it's one of the cheaper upgrades you can make to have faster magazine changes. ODIN Works (http://www.odinworks.com/ODIN_Works_XMR_p/acc-xmr.htm) sell them direct, but I found mine at Rainer Arms (https://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=4043).

Perhaps you can list some of your favorite functional mods to a LPK......I am having trouble keeping track of them to try in my new build.

Yep I seen these and knew I wanted to try one. The rifle I am building now is my competition rifle and I will be putting one of these on it.

As far as other things go for the lower...I will put some KNS anti-walk pins as this rifle will see a high round count. I am going to try a TacticalLink battery assist lever this time around

I love the idea of these so got one it fits your finger perfectly. I only have 2 minor complaints with it first it is a little wobbly not because of the bolts to it but the mag release has that little bit of play to begin with just notice it a little more with a big extension on it. That isn't really a big deal just bothered me a little. It also gets in the way of my tactical link batter assist. Still functions properly but it feels like a mess in that area.

Don't want to sound like a downer the product does exactly what it's meant to do.

LMM,

I agree with you, mine was a bit wobbly as well. I threaded the mag release a couple of more revolutions and it helped, but it didn't completely eliminate the wobble. However, I do like the benefits so far.

Is this increased reload speed something that is quantifiable? Or is it more about more reliable reloads? What about the design contributes to these benefits?

I don't think I can reload any faster with the ODIN, but it does provide a larger surface area for my finger to engage the safety. Again, I don't know if that makes me faster on the reload, but it does provide a nice spot if you're wearing gloves.

I ask because I'm considering getting "serious" about carbine matches, and so am starting to look around at doodads. I'm finding that, just like the "tactical" market, there are a lot of claims about a lot of products that seem to be overblown or un-quantifiable. Which doesn't mean the products aren't good, or helpful, but I'm always on the lookout for so done that has hard numbers.

I am in the middle of doing a write up on one of these too. I ran it a while back in a snow storm, with gloves and the nicest thing for me was the positive feel you get from it. When your finger hits it you know, even with gloves on. I never once found myself reaching. I turned my release in as far as it would go and mags still dropped free and locked solid, there was a slight wiggle. But I don't believe it affected function.

rob,

I took this out for a few hundred rounds this weekend, and I noticed that with some repetition, I feel like I could possibly get faster reloads, only because the mag release is bigger giving me a bigger margin of error with speed reloads.

As much as you train and shoot, I think you might get some benefit out of this product if you try it out. Unlike most gear and doo-dads, it's not terribly expensive.

The FDE version seems to be a pretty close match to a factory coating ...
