Rainier Arms (https://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=4059) has finally released their Ultra Match Ambi Lower. These have been in the works for awhile, but after Rainier Arms (https://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=4059) redesigned their Ultra Match Upper, they had to produce a matching lower. These lowers come with an ambi bolt catch, and are compatible with 45 degree selectors. I will update this thread with additional pictures of the lower once I get one built up. Stay tuned.

Nice. I've read that Mega is producing these for RA. How do you think these receivers compare to Mega's MKM?

Mega is not making the Billet Lowers at this time, just the forged one.

And you didnt buy one..?

I am so close to buying a set and i havent even seen them in person yet..but they look killer.

One question for those that do have them, more of a flat or glossy finish on them?

Back to this again, couple questions as im still considering this upper/lower

Does the upper accept rails with anti rotation tabs or will grinding be needed? I know some older and newer billet models need some filing done to the rail?

Is the bolt catch pin hole threaded? I " thought" i read somewhere it is, or is that the northtech im confusing it with?

How is the finish on them? Nice and deep/consistent like a mega or more duller? Just curious here

I'm surprised there isn't more buzz on this considering there are few ambi options in the first place, and these are significantly less expensive but still from a reputable place.

If I wasn't already heavily invested in the AXTS stuff, I'd be all over this.

So anyone know how they stack up compared to:

AXTS
Troy
San Tan

Are there even any others?

I've built up the lower and in the process of building up the upper. The upper will consist of the following:

KAC URX 3.1 13.5"
Rainier Arms Mountain Series 14.5"
Daniel Defense fixed sights
Aimpoint T1 on a Daniel Defense mount

Once I get this done in the next few weeks, I'll update any additional thoughts.

So far the lower reminds me of the Mega. The only ambi controls provided is an ambi bolt release. If you want a fully ambi lower, right now your options are limited to KAC, San Tan Tactical, and the AXTS. I'm sure there's probably some off the wall lower I'm missing.

The AXTS is one of the finest machined lowers there is period. Not only is it functional, but it looks good. However, is it $440 good? That's up to you. The Knights Armament SR15 is a proven platform and the lower is probably my favorite function wise. The San Tan needs a little more T&E before I can personally make a solid opinion whether it it belongs in the KAC/AXTS group. The San Tan is significantly cheaper than either of the other two options.

If you're a righty looking for a lower with just an ambi bolt release then the Rainier Arms or a Mega Billet will serve you well.

Where does one even get a KAC lower ?

KAC lowers can be found on equipment exchange listings. Some online stores carry them but usually out of stock. I would probably contact lawmens shooting supply since that's about as direct you can get to KAC commercial.
