Glock (http://www.glock.com) is running a teaser poster of their new Glock 42. What do you think? A slim line 9mm or something in .380? .380's would now be possible with Glock (http://www.glock.com) manufacturing firearms stateside to bypass the previous ATF restrictions on importing .380's. Here's hoping for a new entire line of slim line models to compete with the Smith and Wesson Shield.

We'll update when we know more. Coming January 2014. Sign me up.

Why in the world would the atf restrict the 380 from being imported. What am I missing. I saw a glock rep and she would not budge on any details of the upcoming products. I did tell her they needed to make a keltec p3at size 380.

It's the ATF .... is this a rhetorical question? ;)

Couldn't agree more!! But a slim Glock would also make me pretty damn happy.

The Glock rep I see at the LGS always tells me it's coming...but that's been 3 years or so. I think they would make crazy money off of a .22

Zev is about to release a dedicated .22. Look for it in Recoil soon.

No word on what the Glock 42 is yet... you guys going to SHOT better keep us here in the loop! However according to Sportsmans Depot, the Glock 41 is apparently a .45ACP with a 13 round capacity.

If these pictures and information that is floating around the web is correct, looks like it'll be a .380 ACP with a 6+1 capacity. Nothing official from Glock yet however.

BOOOO....

They needed to join the small 9m game as the xds and shield are the hot ticket for those wanting a small framed 9mm..

.380 is no interest to me..

I have zero interest in a .380. As many have said….I predict this will be a flop.

Same here. It will sell, but the market will be more limited. I'm curious what they did to get enough qualifying point to import it.

I call bullshit. I could be wrong, but I don't think Glock has used "Tenifer" for some time. The 42 may indeed be a .380, but I believe this article is a fake.

Dave,

I'd like to either think the article is fake, or magazines have been notorious for misprints. I'm not going to hold my breath until I actually see one sitting on the shelves.

Eric,

They don't have to import them, I'm sure if it is in fact a .380, they would just produce them in Georgia.

BOOOOOOOO.....

I know from the discussion on SGN this isn't popular, and I too would prefer a slimline single stack 9mm. However, at the blue label price for LE/MIL and similar dimensions to my Kahr CW9, I will be a buyer.

Ya im sure there wil lbe a somewhat market for it, i dont own any .380's and i know a lot of other people dont also..with the mil/leo discount and if you have other 380's its probably a piece to get..

So why not get a blue label S&W Shield in 9mm?

I'm on the fence about this. I like the fact that it will have the exact same trigger and sights as my other Glocks and similar in size to my current pocket gun, a LCP. I wish it was 9mm but I can live with .380 as I currently do. If they make a same size in 9mm, I would dump my 380's faster that you say beetlejuice. I'm looking to putting hands on one and getting some trigger time.

I'll let you guys know how it shoots on the 13th at Media Day at SHOT. I have heard from a very reliable source that it will be the .380 with some possibilities of new models coming out next year....but that is still next year.

I had a 9mm Shield for about 6 months, did not care for the ergonomics. Great little gun, just did not work for me.

I'm sure it will sell but it seems to me they would have made far more impact with a single-stack 9mm. Perhaps it's just easier for them to bring this to the US since it was already in production elsewhere ...

May want to check the new XD-S 9, it's getting rave reviews. The ergos are slightly different than the Shield, most notably it's heavier which seems to contribute to accuracy.

I have and carry a XDS9 daily and my father has a shield, and between the 2 there is not much of a weight difference , a few ounces maybe. For some reason its just not for me, dont like the feel of it.the controls , the xds has been good for me , so for now i'll still rock it. A single stack sub compact from glock would of been a hotter ticker in my opinion..

I have a couple of M&P's, and used to visit an M&P forum until it was sold, and became a "whore house". But, I followed, for a couple of years, people drooling, and praying that they lived long enough, to buy a Shield, and complete their lives. Now a lot of people are lamenting those purchases, especially at the inflated prices dealers were getting when they first hit the shelves.

I don't own one and so I won't comment on the Shield, but I had no interest either, other than just watch the circus around it.

A couple of weeks ago, I was at Barnes and Nobles drinking coffee and reading all the gun mags (I acutally bought one), and I can't remember which magazine, but they ran an article, the gist of it being that the "resurgence of the 380 and guns was a "cute" fad, that's time was short, has passed, and so on and on. I just scanned the article not having any desire to own a .380. But I thought it was interesting with all of the talk and rumors of a Glock coming in .380.

So, was the author wrong? Was he right and Glock just missed the boat, time wise, or?

My guess is that die hard Glock owners will buy them first chance they get, to add to their collections. If there's a shortage, people will pay the "inflated" price. Some will then, like the shield, in turn re-sell them on places like armslist, and make a profit on them. When the dust settles, will dealers be stuck with boxes of them they can't sell? Or will they remain a favorite of Glock owners everywhere? I mean the G17 is still a BIG seller, who would have guessed?

Depending which forum I go to there is either a lot of enthusiasm, on others, the general reaction is blaaaah... Will the new Glock be buggy?

I think just watching this will be interesting , no make that amusing.

There are guns out there that are the same size as the G42 in 9mm, and some with more capacity!! The S&W Shield, the Springfield XDs 9, Beretta Nano, Kel Tec PF 9 and P 11 and the Ruger LC9 come to mind quickly. Why oh why would Glock come out with a .380 in with similar dimensions as all those 9mm guns I just named?

On the other hand, I am eagerly awaiting more info on the new Remington R51. 7+1 capacity in 9mm, single action trigger, grip safety, and around the same size as the G42. One article mentioned a 40 S&W version was in the works as well. Oh, the MSRP is $389. Yeah, color me excited.

The G42, even with my access to the blue label pricing, is not something I'll be buying. I don't like the .380 as a defense round and refuse to carry one so much larger than the other .380's out there already. A .380 in my mind is a "get off me/backup gun" and not a defense weapon. The G42 is too large for a backup weapon (I have yet to find a good way to carry my Kel Tec P11 on duty) and the caliber is too small to be a primary off duty/CCW gun.

I don't see it being a similar size. Over 3/4" longer, over 1/2" taller and 0.12" wider. Go just a tad bit more and you have any one of the number of sub compact 9mm's out there.

Edit to add: I'm not a Glock hater by any means mind you. I own 2 Glocks and want more and carry 2 issued Glocks as well. While I'm not a Glock hater/basher, I am very very disappointed with Glock on this one.

The .380 (IMO) has seen its hay day. Single stack 9's are taking the market now. I've wanted a nice compact 9 to replace my Kel Tec P11 for some time and just haven't found the right one yet. I was hoping the G42 would be what I was looking for and am sorely disappointed. If the Remington R51 is a bust, the XDs 9 is likely my next off duty gun purchase. I truly wish I could say my next purchase would be a a Glock, but I'm going to have to sit out on the G42.
