If you've been a fan of the Rainier Arms (http://www.RainierArms.com) RUC, they are introducing the Mod 2. What are the differences you ask? Well, you will still get a quality built rifle, with top notch parts for a great price. That's a given. However, with the Mod 2 update, they will be using their double chrome lined cold hammer forged Mountain Series Barrels. They will also feature the new free float KeyMod handguard, as well as a new compensator. They are calling it the Rainier Arms (http://www.RainierArms.com) Comp, but I still call it the XTC 2.0. Other changes include Mission First Tactical furniture vs. Magpul, and the deletion of sights. This was because most users would either use optics or their own preference of sights. There are also including the new RA Patriot hard case to store and transport your RUC.

Any day they should be going live. Pricing is listed above. That's MSRP, I think MAP is $1579, and LE/MIL will be a few percentages off of that. $20 more for the 18" version.

It looks like that rail is a Rainier branded Seekins rail.

It looks like that rail is a Rainier branded Seekins rail.

It is made by Seekins, it's pretty easy to tell by the screw patterns. However, this is not just a rebranded Seekins Rail. The Rainier Arms FORCE rail is a new design specially made for Rainier using their specifications.

Rainier Arms is now offering the RUC MOD2 with cerakoted receivers at no additional charge. They just release a batch of 16 and 18" RUC's in "concrete" looks like an off-gray color to be from the pictures. More colors to follow after the initial offering.

Rainier continues to pound out fantastic shop-branded products. I've been happy with their barrels so far, their receivers are excellent in terms of fit and finish and the new Force rail I installed this weekend left me with a really fantastic first impression. This rest of this configuration looks solid for the price and I hadn't noticed that the RUC2 is using 45 degree selectors until this set of pictures.

I keep thinking that Rainier should offer a buffet-menu approach for stock and grip on the RUC. Since the shop stocks Magpul, BCM, UCRW, B5, Vltor and MFT components, they could easily install a buyer's pet choices with minor price corrections if needed. Maybe they'll do this if a buyer were to call, or maybe there's a contractual obligation with MFT, I don't know. It just seems like allowing a few items to be buyer-preference would be a selling point for these already-great carbines.

This is a great idea. I wish that Rainier had like drop down menu selections that some of the other vendors have on their own respective websites. That way you can pick and choose what you want and see how it's priced accordingly. I'm not really a fan of the MFT furniture, and would prefer if I could get Magpul. I know it's not a big deal, but I think this year it's finally time to look into getting my own RUC2.
