If you've been reading the internet forums and Facebook, you've probably noticed that there has been a buzz around FN (http://www.fnhusa.com/) possibly entering the civilian market with their own AR15 variant. If you've been around the platform a long time, you may have also wondered why FN has never released say an A4 clone? Well the wait is over. First announced at SHOT show, FN will be releasing 2 new models for the civilian side.

FNH (http://www.fnhusa.com/) will be releasing a 16" and 20" model. The FN-15TM Carbine with be what I would call the M4 clone as it will feature the 16" Chrome Lined barrel and 6 position collapsible stock.

I wish the Laser Marking was an Engraving instead.

Any word on who is actually making the A2 rifle? There's a lot of noise on the 'net about FN not being able to legally manufacture the A2 and that it's out-sourced. I have no idea if that's really true, so curious for those that may be more "inside" the industry.

I don't own an A2, and I don't know that I'd really shoot it much, which makes the realist in me not interested, but the historian in me thinks it would be neat to own if it really was made by FN.

According to the rep I spoke with, they are all FN made to "better than mil-spec." They indicated building their own allows them to hold the tolerances closer. I did notice lack of staking on the receiver extension nut. They have elected to use Loctite instead.

Thanks for the info. Not that that one piece of info really would change anything for me, the individual end user, but it is a little disappointing to hear "better than mil-spec" and then hear "Loctite."

Interestingly, the 20" rifles had F marked FSBs, and I'm really bummed they went with a standard barrel instead of FN's signature CHF barrel
