Saw some pics from SHOT of LWRC's new direct gas impingement BCG. Looks interesting cause the gas key is machined directly into the carrier, no screws to stake. The tube part of the key screws in. They say it is compatiable with mil-spec uppers.

Recoil Mag has pics of this BCG.

GOST,

this is interesting, a gas key machined directly into the carrier... will have to look for the photo once I get up tomorrow, unless you can post it if you have it handy. I've wondered for years if this was something they could do and do it cost effectively. Knowing LWRC, it won't be cheap.

Sorry I'm at work, can't post pics from here. Now if someone will machine gas blocks directly to the barrel and be low enough profile to slip the barrel nut over.

No pics of the BCG, but looks like our buddy Triple Bravo got a picture of the new LWRC DI rifle.

Good looking rifle, but the price will probably be as much as a Noveske. Suprised the barrel isn't spiral fluted.

It's an option.... Just costs a little more.

I'm usually not down for proprietary parts, but that BCG is sexy.

LWRC haters never cease to amaze me at the things the find to bitch about. For years people criticized the piston design, and now that they have a DI model they have an issue with a relief cut on a BCG, a relief cut that if spikes or BCM or DD did they would likely be all gaga for. Its a great design, they make cuts like that to decrease machining times, as radius surfaces are very time consuming to machine, this in turn saves the customer money because it increases efficiency on the manufacturing process. The gas key is awesome. And no these cuts don't add friction, on the contrary they would reduce it, less surface area riding along the receiver walls equals....... there ya gooooooooo. This means nothing anyway since nearly all BCG run on rails/skids/flats.

Looking at that BCG, as a mechanical designer that spends his day planning how to machine things, The LWRC BCG looks to me that it would take a few hours more in a machine with the features pictured above than a std BCG with bolt on gas key.

F3 Tactical is a shop that's local to me, and they have one of the LWRCi BCGs for sale…ready for it…$340.

To me, the DI BCG seems like a modification of their current piston BCG design so that it will work with a DI system.

As far as the DI rifle itself, as I was taking that photo of Adam holding the rifle at SHOT show, he was telling us that they have a target MSRP of somewhere around $1500.

That is a ridiculous price. Their piston carrier as sold in the "one piece upgrade kit" is only $195. Are they including their ACB in for $340?

$350 for a BCG!?!? Wow. And I thought Young and LMT were pricey.
