Ben from AR15news (http://www.ar15news.com)alerted me to these AIM (http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=XAIMBCGV2&name=AIM+BLACK+NITRIDE+.223%2f5.56+AR%2fM16+Bolt+C arrier+Group&search=bcg) BCG's as I've been looking for a nitride coated Bolt Carrier Group to run in my gun. I've wanted to try the nitride coated carriers, ever since another manufacturer was trying to perfect the nitride coating, but had a lot of issues with the product and customer service. Checkout AIM Surplus (http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=XAIMBCGV2&name=AIM+BLACK+NITRIDE+.223%2f5.56+AR%2fM16+Bolt+C arrier+Group&search=bcg) to order and get more information.

I'll try to post a review down the road once I get it going on a gun.

these aren't full-auto carriers right?

My understanding is that they are. I can confirm for you when I receive my order.

That picture looks like a FA carrier.

Yes, full-auto. Description on the AIM website says "AR-15/M-16" and the one pictured is clearly a F/A carrier.

On my phone the picture is extremely small and pixelates when I enlarge it, hence the question.

I'm sure this question gets kick around a boatload of times and what not, but to my understanding isn't the 9310 bolt much more durable?

Milspec calls for Carpenter 158, but 9310 is similar in toughness and strength. 9310 is allegedly more corrosion resistant because of higher nickel content.

Voodoo_man. Is there a reason you don't like the FA version. I have one M16 carrier in one rifle, and the lighter AR (Fail Zero) in another. The M-16 BCU feels, as far as I can tell, to be smoother cycling. That's out of a 16" mid LMT Lower and Upper. I just received a third (it's FA) a Rainier, and am hoping that when I get everything together, that it, too, will feel smoother cycling.

I'm just curious, as to whether it's a technical issue and you've had problems with heavier BCU's in the past? If it makes any difference, I use H buffers in both, and will be using an H buffer in this new build, as a starting point.
Thanks,
FT

I put one of these through a limited test today. For a few mags of controlled fire with PMC .223, it worked perfectly in the 14.5" middy.

That carbine's upper is my test platform for nitrided components with Froglube - the barrel, flash hider, gas tube and now BCG are all melonited. So far, I like the setup a lot, but I'll probably play with an H buffer now that the BCG is sorted out. I'll try to provide an update at 1K increments for this component.

Curious if anyone else is running one of these and how is it holding up? Coating? Any problems?

Btw, these BCG's and the NIB ($129 models) now have a C158/mp tested bolt instead of the 9310. Bryan says it will be a standard thing from now on..Good deal IMO for $100 bux, although the nitrides are not in stock , he says soon, The NIB ones are back in stock..

And UW...your pics are jacked as you are uber-tactically to popular and your shit is blocked......lol

Once in awhile when I post on Arfcom, I get crazy hit and I go over the limit. I need to pay for the unlimited bandwidth.

I'm waiting for their .308 BCGs to come back into stock. The AR15 BCGs have so been GTG...but I have less than 500 rounds through my one carrier.

Right on, Think im gonna grab one of these to use on my pistol build....Well have to see how long they they take to come back in stock (nitride ones) as id like to try one of them, if not then might try their NIB one or whatever pops up..

Ya those 308 bcg they had looked like a good deal for what it is...

Didn't feel like starting a new thread.

Buddy gave me parts to build an AR for him (using a BCM socom upper) he gave me this aimsurplus nib bcg. Other than a nearly bad stake job, it may work out.

Nice pics, That is their Lower cost NIB they offer, a few different parts are on the slightly more expensive model, 9310 bolts vs c158's, billet pieces on the other one, but people have been posting good results with most of all the AIM bcg's..

I guess, I didn't buy it, buddy did for his build. Hope the bcm upper doesn't spit it out.

It should be just fine, if not AIM seems to have great customer service when needed.

I've had good luck with this BCG. I've got one in my 300BLK pistol its been through 3 classes and roughly 4500 rounds without any problems.

Did you redo the staking or just run it?

Just ran it. Wanted to see if it would actually generate a problem or not.
