Loving that JP low mass, have you had a chance to run it yet?

Like always amazing photos Carbon :adore:

That's the Full Mass carrier and unfortunately, it's not mine. The local shop let me borrow it, so I won't be running it (unless they give me a hell of a deal).

This one is the Low Mass BCG.

Guess I shoulda realized FMOS meant full mass... They look very similar at a glance. You have some amazing photo skills though. What kind of editing software do you use?

You got anytime in with the silent capture spring yet?

I got to zero my SBR with it. It was noticeably quieter than a standard buffer/spring. I'd like to compare it side-by-side with a Spike's buffer to see if it's really worth the cost though. I used both Winchester Q3131A and some Tula because I wanted to try it with weaker ammo. When using a older 20 round Colt mag it wasn't locking the bolt back on empty. With a PMAG I was. It didn't depend on ammo, so I just think the spring in the Colt is weak. I've since added an SLR adjustable gas block so I can dial it in better (if needed) with different ammo.

This was all off the bench. I'm curious if the feel changes once shooting without support. I'm hoping to get out again soon. Oh, and my support was a MagPod with the PMAG. Very stable. [:D]

When they're in a rifle the lettering is about the only way to tell them apart visually. When you look at the carrier on it's own the difference is quite apparent.

All photos first go through Adobe Lightroom 5 and if needed, then to Photoshop CC. I'm able to do most processing and cleanup of dust and what-not in Lightroom. Any tricky color correction and heavy retouching I'll do in Photoshop.

SCT's new nitrate BCG. Traded my NiB for this one because the finish was looking horrible on the NiB. Only a few hundred rounds and it was very discolored and permanently stained

Very nice BCG. I use to be a STRONG believer in having a BCM bcg in any serious use rifle but since owning the fathom nitride I may soon change my opinion. Now it still needs to be tested, and then oiled and tested again and again. But so far I'm super impressed with nitride bcg's...

You can clean it up a bit with a Scotch-Brite pad, but it will never look new again.

I've never seen one doesn't stain. I like them stained. For people who like shiny but don't like how NiB stains the chromed ones are a better option.

I honestly didn't know they'd do that. I simply asked if it was normal and they suggested a exchange. I even stated in the email that it functions flawlessly, I just wanted to know if it was normal. I do like the nitrate better though.

Really it feels pretty similar to the standard levers. It's the only ST version I have, so I can't really compare it, but I think the tapered design works a little bit better for re-engaging the safety.

I would love to see a hybrid or scalloped lever for the other side (my preference in all BAD-ASS). I never feel like I get good leverage with the short levers. Granted, with the short throw, I can easily engage/disengage with just my thumb, so it's not a big deal.

I like the two nitride finished BCGs i have. They clean up a bit easier, but are still susceptible carbon build-up and still require scraping/solvent to get that crap off. I haven't tried any torture testing with them, so i can't speak to how they perform under the worst of conditions. I lube them as i would any other BCG. Same with the NiB BCGs i own. Both run reliably, as expected. Personally, I wouldn't go out of my way to buy either one over a quality phosphate BCG unless it's the aesthetic aspect you're after.

You know, mine do the same thing. Oil everything, lock it away in the safe, and next time i take it out there's oil on everything but the BCG lol. Doesn't seem to affect how often i need to lube it while shooting though.

I've used a lot of slings from the TIS to TAB in 2-pts but I have to say as far as quick adjustment and overall function the VTAC still wins for me.

I'm only 5'6 so it has enough adjustment to pull in tight for short ppls like me lol.

I tried the vickers but it didn't pull into my body tight enough so when I ran the rifle would bash me

It feels nice overall, but I am concerned about how much wear the latch will cause on the upper. It's a really strong spring and I feel like it will wear down the upper quickly.

I noticed on Sintercore's Tripwire they made the latch polymer to guard against that.

Exactly what I told someone when they asked me about it. I may put it on a different rifle than ordinary intended. UCWRG uppers aren't always the easiest to get ahold of.

I hadn't heard of that one. I may need to check it out.

Depending on how you use your rifle, the Mega may not be anything to worry about. It's really just the impression I got.

I spoke to Gene Malkoff yesterday. He said there are some E2/Scout m600 heads in the next manufacturing batch, which is due in a few weeks.

I've been waiting on the BFH ELW barrels myself. I'm hoping they'll do those in the fluted versions as well.

I didn't even realize how dirty the Troy upper was until I started snapping pics. I almost didn't upload it but figured I'd gone through all the work no sense in just trashing them.

Also, really like the red. Just enough to pop.

Wow that's a deal! Can't take advantage of it.

I haven't shot enough to get a complete assessment, but... It's too dim in daylight, it true 1x (but damn close) and it's heavy.

Having said that, I like the reticle and I like the "throw lever".

Picked up a Lantac UAR. This thing is seriously nice. I'm thinking I'm going to have to build a complete Lantac upper now. I really want to try out their 14.5" intermediate barrel, so I might as well go all Lantac. May be a while before it get built though.

Gotcha. Been wanting to get one to try it out. Just waiting to through it in a bulk order from someone so shipping isn't so harsh (as compared to shipping for just the Tac Link)

I will tell you the same thing I told Dstrd when he said exactly what you said. The Setwear stealth gloves are ok and they are inexpensive, but in less than 6 months I have wore a small hole in the thumb of my right hand. And I have only used the stealth gloves for light work around the house and at the range. Now my PIG Alpha's that I have had for over a year are rock solid. I use them for yard work, shooting, kydex work, and anything I think I need a glove for. They have been soaked cleaning gutters before the winter came. They have been chewed on by Jaxon and Leia (my two boxers). They have been to hell and back and are still rock solid. When the Setwear are wore completely out I will be picking up a second set of PIG Alpha gloves.

And yep that photo was done in the bathroom at the vanity and my cell phone. Had my daughter press the shutter button on the phone to take the photo after telling her what to focus on and how to frame it.

Anyone got a photo of a 12" RA force mod 2 rail over a 16" barrel?

Trying to decide which rail to finish off a build that's been on my mind for awhile. The idea for the rifle was a "no frills", bomb proof trainer that used quality components but nothing so fancy that I wouldn't mind it getting thrashed on by myself or friends. I've accidentally almost duplicated the RA ruc mod 2 in components, I just don't want a 15" rail.

Any advice welcome!

Helps if I read thoroughly as this is mod 1 and you were looking mod 2. [Bash] I love the rail as I have a 7" and 12" model. Only difference is the slant cut. If you are looking that for an idea you can look at RA's version of the switch and get the same effect.

Ya I looked heavily at the switch, but the easy off feature worried me for a rifle that I expect to be heavily abused. Now I have nothing to base that fear on, just seems the force 2 may withstand training bumps, drops etc for a HD trainer

It's from the video game Destiny. My original plan was a Halo or Star Wars but that had been done so many times and I wanted something really unique. So I went to searching and found a Rifle in the video game that was a "exotic" or rare rifle. I liked the theme and thought it fit the bill of what I was looking. I think Blowndeadline did a "phamtastic" job! Here's the pic I/he used for reference.

In my opinion they're one of the best on the market. The fact that you can swap out covers for different environments is awesome.

Mine was SUPPOSED TO show up on Monday, and despite making it out for delivery it never made it to my mailbox. I've called about it and thus far nothing. [bash]

They lost a package of mine last year as well, but at least managed to find it again.

It is! A James Madison Tactical 80% Polymer lower. Comes with lower and jig for $99

Edit: I will say that this lower feels more solid than some forged lowers I've handled (Anderson... j/k for Ride). I wouldn't hesitate to get one again. I may end up picking up a 80% arms router jig too

Always wanted a M203, but even if destructive devices are allowed, it would just end up being a really expensive photo prop.... which of course never stopped me before.

I know what you mean. Including mounting hardware and tax stamp this thing cost around $1700. That doesn't even include adapters for using with shotgun shells or 22lr.

I'm just glad I know people who are willing to waste money.

I'll leave this here. I should so note that their shipping is awesome. It did cost a flat $13 but I had this rail in my hands in less that 46 hours from the time I placed the order. Not too shabby IMO...
