My SD-E ordered from PA on 11/25 arrived today. My G Super Block ordered on 11/7 from PA just shipped today. I think that's the longest I've ever seen PA take to ship an order (frequently they fulfill the order in less than 24 hours) so they must of done a lot of business over the weekend.

Yea I ordered a 7075 buffer tube kit from them(PA) Friday and got it Monday. I finally got shipping on my G2S and all of my of whe goodies with the exception of my Sentry 7 from SLR. I ordered it on 11/24 and it still shows pending...

Edit: Their ears must have been burning. My status changes to shipped not more than a minute or two after I posted this. First time using a "quality" adj gas block. I'm excited lol

I considered running brakes on all the guns i planned on suppressing because of the whole sacrificial baffle thing, but decided it wasn't worth the noise and concussion if i were to run it unsuppressed. The least of my riifle cans (the AAC 556-SD) has an all Inconel baffle stack, not to mention the unicorn horns or whatever SilencerCo makes their baffles out of. From the research i did, blast baffle erosion was just something i decided i wasn't going to worry about. That said, running all brakes is cheap insurance. And a damaged brake is a lot easier to replace than a damaged can.

I gotcha. Nice score!

I was being evasive in my answer in hopes of getting a better "full monty" pic today at the range. Managed to grab one or two on the iPhone and will put them up in one of the other threads.

Once I had the optic zeroed, the turret was sitting on "0" for elevation. Not bad. Needed a couple of clicks for windage. Apparently whoever set the focus, though, was blind. Lots of twists to get the target in focus at 100. But at least the MK12 is back in action since the optic swap.

Personally I love em. But I think you could get a ton more value out of another company. I mean hell for the 285$ their charging you could get an aero upper & lower AND have 130$ left over for other parts. That's nothing to sneeze at

Nope straight from the camera. It's a 18" first order storm trooper. My wife told my mom to get me something Star Wars for Christmas. For fun she got that. It's only $20 or so at most major retailers. It doesn't do anything but move a little but hey it works for some fun photos.

I'm not sure the reasoning behind the new coating, but rotation smoothness and positive clicks derive little benefit from coating, in my experience. They are smooth and have positive detent engagement because we redesigned the selector center's detent groove channel depth, angle, shoulder height, detent hole depth, angle, and "ramp" angle no fewer than 3 to 4 times, from the original to the current spec that was finalized in 2012 or so. Not all the changes we made brought improvements, but the final dimensions were the best.

I chuckle when I see other selector manufacturers still struggling with that :P

I actually like it. It's has a thin profile that allows me to feel like I'm getting more of my hand around the grip. I like it at the straightest angle which I think is 17* IIRC..

I've always found my phosphate coated BAD selectors to be nice and smooth in operation. What little grittiness, if you can even call it that, there was from the phosphate coating smoothed right out after the detent grove and selector center burnished from use. TiN coating has got to have a greater surface hardness than the anodizing on the receiver. Seems to me that would cause accelerated wear of the selector holes in the receiver, not that they see very much wear to begin with though.

When I get a chance to try it, I will definitely post my findings. This particular AR is really bad about dumping smoke in the shooters face. No functional issues, ejection patterns where they should be, but the little 8.5" barrel is really smokey. Don't know if it will help or not, but just had to try it.

When I get a chance to try it, I will definitely post my findings. This particular AR is really bad about dumping smoke in the shooters face. No functional issues, ejection patterns where they should be, but the little 8.5" barrel is really smokey. Don't know if it will help or not, but just had to try it.

If your experiences will be like mine were, it will noticeably affect the gas...until you try and shoot weak side. Then it's like driving behind a RAM 2500 with your windows down.

The threads are cold rolled vs tapped. We played around with the numbers on pullout strength vs cost vs longevity, and tested pretty extensively - there is enough meat on the extrusion to easily add helicoils in the future if there are issues.

Didn't give enough info :-) I own KM3 Solutions, I worked with Manticore Arms on this project - the panel system is my design, and Sven (@ Manticore) and I share a patent on that, the forend itself is a collaboration - I try to be careful posting about any of that stuff since I'm not a site sponser yet (although I think about to change that).

I can't speak on other Manticore Arms stuff, but Sven is a good guy and makes good stuff - I can though answer questions about this forend / the panel system in general. We've got both longer and shorter versions completely modeled and sorted out, it's just a matter of moving some of these before Manticore will likely get them out onto the market.

I can't say for sure on the lengths in case anything changes, but should be in the "extended carbine" range, and the "15+" range :-)

Luckily my background is long range shooting, so I'm already familiar with manfrottos, but I can assure you I see good deals on craiglist, amazon, and ebay all the time. I can pick-up the tripod and head for <$200. When you can't afford a decent camera, a tripod is the next best investment you can make. A tripod should move higher up in everyone's "need" category. I'm not knocking you in particular, but I know a lot of guys who want to show up at matches or clinics, and talk about how it isn't in the budget, but somehow they have multiple rifles, the newest latest greatest scope, or whatever else they thought was more important, but in the end it doesn't help them make the shot, as good as having the right tool to create the most stable position. The same ironically enough I've discovered applies to photography. I didn't(and still don't) have the funds to buy a better camera, lighting or lenses, but I knew that a tripod would fix a lot of what I lack in better equipment such as a full sensor, by simply being able to leave the shutter open. In my opinion a decent tripod should be the first investment for any photographer over everything else.

Yea I can't argue that at all. The only thing I'd use a tripod for is my photography. I have a decent one now that works well. I'd argue that while a tripod is a great tool, upgrading your lighting will be a bigger benefit vs a tripod. As you know it's all about lights!?!

But you can't always use/set up optimum lighting. I say that from an ENG/production perspective. Sometimes you have to wing it, and then it's nice to just have a simple tripod and use available lighting. Optimum? Of course not, but a necessity sometimes.
