MoxyDave - Thank you! I am by no means perfect...but "L" series glass and upgrading my camera body has definitely helped. Depending on which image you are talking about, I shot most of those above with a Tamron 90mm Macro lens. Since it is a prime lens (no zoom), the images tend to come out sharper.

This was done just using sunlight outdoors.

I just received three Canon 430ex IIs from a friend. Though I am using a Nikon so I need to figure a trigger for these or give them back and work out something else.

Right. The button itself moves.

It's not so much about not liking the KMR, but more about preferring the Geissele SMR. I've never been a big fan of the round profile handguards either. I like having some ridges that bite into your hand a bit for grip.

Wanting to try one of those out on the next build. Been using a hybrid lever and like it.

I've tried the regular one, the short regular one, the short thin one, and this one... to me this one is best. The shape doesn't poke me in the hand but rather curves around making the grip a lot more comfortable. It is also thick enough at the top to where you can easily get better leverage.

Hmm! May have to try that one. I didn't like the short. Currently have the thin regular one and like it.

The scalloped one is highly recommended by me. On my strong side I run the regular long one. It provides the best leverage to get the job done and it's not in the way or touching my hand. On the weak side this version very much accommodates your hand a lot better. From the minute I put it on I was like 'this is it'. Not only is it comfortable to handle it's actually more functional. As I said above the thin one is fine but this scalloped one is the best of all worlds if you ask me.

I'm thinking about doing regular (strong side) and then short regular (weak side).

What'd you think about the short regular?

I'm thinking about doing regular (strong side) and then short regular (weak side).

In all actuality it worked ok but here's the mini review. The short regular one is too thick at it's base nearest the grip. When in firing position the corner of it poked my hand way too much for my liking. It was very distracting. On the upside to it it provided excellent leverage for a quick flick to go from safe to fire. In this regard it's only bested (at least by some) by the regular long lever. The short thin did an ok job of being out of the way and it functioned fine as one would expect, but it did require a bit more work so to speak since it was thin from top to bottom. There wasn't anything really to get a grip on for the flip. But of course don't let me exaggerate that but it was a little more fiddly on the weak side.

The scalloped one for the weak hand by far works the best. At the top it's the same thickness as the regular levers but its very ergonomic. Even in fire position there is zero poking of the hand (even less than the short thin) and it doesn't ride under your hand either. While accomplishing that goal it STILL gives you a much more substantial area to push on or flick or whatever you do to operate the safety lever. On all counts of functionality and comfort the scalloped wins in every category.

alamo5000

I've never tried the hybrid but I keep on raving about the scalloped for comfort and function. If I hadn't swapped it out (Battle Arms has a swap program) it would have been interesting to see the Short Regular on the strong side and the scalloped on the weak. BUT as I say that on my strong side the regular lever is out of the way and is really nice so I have absolutely zero complaints on it.

As for the throw, with a short lever it does feel shorter vs a regular length.... but for me I value the comfort over that considering I don't flip the lever on my weak side that much.

It's not free. $5 to swap equal value for equal value. If you 'upgrade' there is also a charge. It cost me $11 to swap for a scalloped lever since it is considered a 'premium' lever by them. Or you can just buy one for like 25 bucks on the internet.

But if you swap up to premium its 11 bucks total including everything (shipping etc). If you had a regular lever and wanted to swap it for something else that wasn't premium then it's $5. Also your lever has to be in new condition to be considered for a swap. Otherwise just buy one flat out of whatever you want.

I think more companies should do things like this, start from the 3d printed model to prototypes, t&e items and on to final products with revisions and notes on what the steps were along the way.

Thats a product id buy since I can see the amount of thought that went into making it.

I just picked up the silent captured spring and haven't run it yet. I'll get a chance on Thursday. The LMOS BCG isn't mine, it was lent to me for some photos, so I won't be running it (I can't afford it [:D] ).

The machining and finish on both items is outstanding though. That LMOS carrier is a thing of beauty.

When I first saw the silent capture spring, I wrote it off as an unnecessary, needlessly complicated system. Now that I have it installed, I'm starting to become a believer. Just cycling the action it is noticeably smoother and quieter. I'll be really interested to see how it runs on Thursday. I'll let you know then what I really think of it.

That's about the only difference i could find after doing a little digging on UCWRG's web site. Knowing UCWRG, there are probably some other minute differences that yield incremental gains in performance or durability.

To be honest, I was expecting more. I'm sure it's MADE with the best materials… but the phosphate coating seems to me a little rough and possibly thin? Dunno yet. Just after feeling it then the BCM…I wish I woulda got 2 BCM's lol

I know what you mean. I've got two of the V1 BCGs and the finish on them is a bit lighter in color compared to the finish on a BCM. But then, i have an LMT that looks like the phosphate coating is caked on and a Noveske that's even lighter in color than the UCWRG. I'm sure it's simply a result of small variations in the manufacturing process. And UCWRG claims "surface finish improved over mil-spec" on their web page, so who knows. They all seem to perform about the same, and i haven't noticed that i need to reapply lube to one sooner than any other. I definitely don't regret buying my UCWRG BCGs. Given the materials used, and that the laser engraving alone has got to add considerable cost, the price point isn't far off on the UCWRG compared to the BCM. Kind of boils down to what logo you want showing in the ejection port. [BD]

Couldn't have said it any better. Your exactly right. I also don't regret my purchase, it's funny because I doubt you were around when I posted it, but I did a poll for "which BCG" type thread. The three BCG's in the poll are now here and waiting to be abused

Which gives me an idea…hmm maybe I should start another poll [BD]

Here's the answer from Umbrella:

Engraved 4340 extractor (everyone else uses 4140; both are allowed by the M4 data package but since 4140 is less costly, it always gets the nod), significantly better surface finish over spec, Sprinco/Tactical Springs LLC for both ejector and extractor springs, slightly different markings to denote second gen BCG.

When I have stuff that doesn't match or needs to change color....I'm from the "hit it with a rattle can" school of thought. When I finally finish my SPR build, it MIGHT get a base coat of spray on Duracoat....but that's a big maybe. Nothing wrong with high dollar finishes...if I hadn't sprayed guns in the desert with the army I might feel differently. [crazy]
