Hey guys, I'm looking for a carrier/pouch/holder for pmags. Can be single or double stack. Just wondering what you use and why?

How many mags are you going to be carrying on your carrier?

I think only two, so I'm leaning towards something simple like kydex holders to go on my belt. Not opposed to a chest rig though.

I like fast mags or HSGI tacos depending on my setup.

I run one Fast Mag backed by a Tactical Tailor double/double (Double Magna Mag Combo Pouch) - holds two AR mags with two pistol mag pouches on the front.

I have a chest rig that will hold 6 or 7 mags, I'm not near it today, but I'll check on the brand, when I get home; I can't remember for now. Also, although it's pretty stout, I'm not sure I'd want to have it... say for an space alien invasion, combat situation. I'll take another look and let you know if you're interested. For range use, it's great, although I'm not sure how well it would do from a prone position. It would probably hold up, but it would probably be uncomfortable as heck.

I find that if you're going to use mags from a chest rig, 3 is optimal for most uses. Good balance of speed, weight, and a compromise on rounds. For chest rigs, I like Tactical Tailor triple pouches.

For belts, I use Fast Mags. They have good retention as some people like to mount their mags upside down. They are more on the pricey side. Got some from SKD Tactical on a sale.

I like the HSGI drop leg with the double tacos pmag/pistol mag setup. Its a quick natural move to grab a mag for reload. Never thought about wearing a plate carrier until I read a review from DMViergever. Now I plan on running on....just don't know if I will move my mag carrier up to it.

I use an Eagle Universal Tactical Vest chest rig and ITW Fast Mag for my primary/speed reloads. That system works for me.

You know you can only loose some many points before they revoke your mancard? I kid, I kid. haha

I think the purse would be quite lovely, if tastefully done in red sequins. [:)]

Seriously though, Merlin, what type use's do you have in mind. LEO/SWAT/Combat ready or just a handy way to carry a bunch of mags at the range? That would narrow it down a bit more, and change the price tag from maybe $150 to a "Make you Bleed", astronomical price tag.

This is only going to get used while at the range or during competitions. That's why I was leaning towards something to go on a belt.

I have a buddy that uses a bag like this for his active shooter kit. After some training with it, you realize there are a lot of limitations with a setup like this. First when you reload, speed or tactical, you want to know where your mags are. If they are flopping around because you've been moving around, that's never good. I imagine if you're using them for competition, this wouldn't be a good idea either.

I'd just get a couple of fastmags for the belt.

In that case, the ITW FastMag (http://www.skdtac.com/ITW-FASTMAG-p/itw.110.htm) or FAB Defense mag pouch (http://www.weaponevolution.com/forum/showthread.php?5725-FAB-Defense-5.56-Magazine-Pouch) would work.

Ready Tactical AR mag pouches, purchased from SKD Tactical (skdtac.com). Easy on/off, allows bullets forward or rear, tension adjustable with hair dryer (I've never needed/bothered to, but I know some people can't resist the urge to filddle-fart with their gear).

I use kydex ones that I've made myself. Kydex is very easy to work with.
