If you're interested in purchasing a Rainier Arms (https://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=4546) .308 Billet Receiver set, you might ask yourself, what handguards are you going with? Well, Rainier Arms (https://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=4546) has teamed up with Fortis Manufacturing (http://www.fortismfg.com/) and will offer their own version of the SWITCH Rail. This version will be the 14" and like the Fortis, will feature KeyMod attachments as well as a Picatinny Rail along the top. The front end will also be slanted to match other Rainier Arms (https://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=4546) products. Checkout Rainier Arms' website for ordering information.

Description:

This version of the quick detach rail system SWITCH™ is a Rainier Arms exclusive. It features a brand new mechanism that allows a tool-less removal of the rail itself for easy access to the proprietary barrel nut and gas block, and what we believe is most important, is to be able to quickly change rails for a variety of mission or competition specific setups.

These .308 versions weighs in at a mere 11.8 oz for the 14”. Each model will feature Keymod Slots and QD Attachment Points at the 3, 6 and 9 O'clock position as well as a full length Picatinny Rail on top. The SWITCH™, is a revolutionary design that not only looks great and feels phenomenal in hand, but is incredibly functional and adds minimal weight to the rifle - this is truly an exciting new piece of kit.

I like these but wish they would quit doing QD cups at the end. Makes the last KeyMod essentially worthless.

Nice..My wish list is getting longer..

So is there a RAC brake to go with the angle of the rail here for the 308?

Awesome. When will there be a 5.56 version? Or is there one already?

I do believe on Fortis' website that I read that there is a 5.56 in the works.

Think October Time Frame for a 5.56 version... followed by a Fortis REV 2.0

I was agonizing over the last piece of my .308 "project". Not a build, starting with a complete DPMS, but ending up replacing about 70% of it.
Now I'm pretty sure I'm buying the Fortis. Looks simple, UWone77, I think it was, has 2 or 3 of them on uppers, and is really pretty reasonably priced.
So, I'm going to order one. If it sucks, I'm going to blame UW.:(

FT,

If you're looking for a quality .308 rail you can't go wrong with the SWITCH Rail. Get one, and don't think twice about it.... well if you don't like it, at least you can blame me.

Thanks guys, but as it turns out, I can't use the Fortis Switch. DPMS uppers have two profiles. The older of the two, the " high profile " is what the Fortis Switch uses. The newer " low profile " is what I have and won't work with the Fortis. I might have to purchase another MI SSK for the DPMS. I can't find a lot for it. Troy makes a few, but they all have those holes in them, no Keymod, M-Lok, nada.

At least I found out before I ordered one, and had to go through the hassle of sending it back.
