Got to spend some trigger time with the new VP9 and here's what I've found:

Pros:
-100% reliable with anything from Russian stuff to quality JHPs
-Excellent trigger. Broke right at 5 but the crispness made it feel like less. Very smooth pull all the way through
-"Hostile Environment" nitrided finish is very durable and looks great
-Ergonomics are excellent. The replaceable backstraps and grip panels make the gun great for almost all hand sizes out there
-Quality luminescent 3 dot steel sights. N/S will be available from the factory at a later date
-Price. The MSRP on the gun is $719 so after the initial rush it'll likely be available in the mid $600s some places. For an H&K, can't complain about that.
-Full length, 1913 rail for mounting accessories
-Ambi mag release and slide release levers
-Uses 15 or 10 round P30 mags
-I like the "charging supports" but I know some out there will take them off

Cons:
-The bore axis is high, no getting around it
-15 round capacity factory mags. Many of my viewers expressed that they'd like to see a higher capacity factory offering
-This particular gun seems to shoot high (3 experienced shooters all had the same result)

All in all, I think this will be an extremely popular gun for H&K. Great build quality, reliability, ergos, and finish combined with H&K's reputation will be hard to resist for a lot of prospective gun buyers out there.

Here's my full review video that covers a lot of the issues above as well as some more details about the pistol:

In fact I saw on your page that Impact Guns is taking backorders for $599.

That's a smoking price on an HK.

Love your reviews. UW is that the UW discounted price?[BD]

I think that's the price they are offering to anyone that wants to backorder one. At sub $600, I think these will be flying off the shelves. Maybe I'll just wait for a used one from a disgrunted user for $500

Doubt that is gonna happen? Never see a sub $500 on anything HK.

The old guys I work with will pay top dollar with anything that has HK on it.

Bought 2 of mine for sub $500... Used they are out there.

Correct. The NS version is $660 or 670

LGS just texted me to let me know that my VP9 will be delivered tomorrow. It was "on allocation" from his distributor, what ever that is, and I've apparently finally been "allocated". $600 OTD for the 2-mag version. Looking forward to shooting it in some timed drills against my PPQ and M&P 9 this weekend (got rid of the Glock 19 months ago - I don't think it's really a contender in this category of pistol anyway. At least in my hands). Also gotta get out the toaster oven and some kydex and work up a holster.

Thinking about picking one of these up SSE.

I have about 500 rounds through my VP9. It's a nice gun. I'm not sure it's a better gun for me than my PPQ, but I think it is.

My LGS has not received any yet.

I have several. One has 2645 rounds thru it and a Dave Harrington Advanced Pistol Class already.

Slide stop levers could be a little more prominent for me. I shoot thumbs forward and the pistol feels "slick" but it sure could be a bit easier to depress the release.

New here. I had a question for the vp9 and p30 owners. What do you like/dislike between the two? I have both striker and hammer fired pistols and really like my current hk. I plan to get a 9mm in the future and was set on a p30 until the vp9 came out. Could use some input. Thank you.

I like LEM and I like the striker fire. Odd but true. The ergos of the VP9 is better (for ME).
