UWone, seeing that box from Rainier on the porch was the icing on the cake during Thanksgiving! Definitely not the first time a Rainier Arms box, being too big for the mailbox, got the Mail carrier out of her Jeep....and it certainly won't be the last!! I was looking at their 18" SPR/Match barrel in matte stainless for my next build to complement the 17" Parallax Tactical rail. All which got my neighbor interested and it turned into me helping him detail out his first Black Rifle build.

All thanks to WEVO, the staff, and some awesome industry brands!

Nope, I follow a bunch of the sponsors on IG but I do not want to get back on Facebook. It's a personal preference and I have learned of some awesome companies during this celebration. I have a ton of options now when I go to build a rifle. US Optics has been on my list for my .308 build and will probably stay the top contender for when I start the build. We won a charging handle from the last giveaway and we are thankful for it. I am fortunate enough to be able to budget for 99.9% of everything on my want list and even more lucky to have an amazing wife that will let me budget for it.

As far as Stick goes I love seeing his work its what brought me to wevo 2 years ago. I follow his work here, on IG, OFFGRID, and Arms Collective. I am sure he does a ton of other stuff but I is my main source of his work.

The reason I'm suggesting this is because for a while here at WEVO the only people that were contributing were just a handful of regulars. And the reason that most of us were regulars here is because we're not the Facebook crowd. I made a FB page just to be able to enter Stick's giveaway. The reason I've been posting so much lately is to try get some of the people entering the giveaway to stick around. And I'm sorry pickle and candy threads have no usable data. No body likes sticking around if there is no new posts. But I am confident in saying that we have the best regulars and have picked up some great new members, and the photography here is second to none.

With that being said members like Computalotapus who are not on FB should be able to enter a contest here to possibly win in.

Meh I am sure when I say this that the regular members will agree. It isn't about the giveaways it's about the content. Stick's giveaway is to celebrate his 100k milestone on facebook and facebook is the perfect place to be doing that. I think having people come here to wevo is a way of doing a membership drive. Yes we will see some of the one post people but we have picked up some active members with these type drives and I for one like majority of the new members. I didn't come to wevo for prizes I registered here because it is a good source of information and an even better source to help troubleshoot issues with most small arms.

I would like to thank the sponsors not for their donation of goods for the giveaways but for their sponsorship on helping keep this forum moving in a positive direction.

I think Christina and I have learned a lot from being here and we have gotten to communicate with a lot of industry people on a professional and personal level. The experiences we have gotten far exceed any prize that can be given. We are going to try and focus more on giving back.

Unfortunately some of the best and most technically proficient posters have bowed out from posting, at least until this 100K give away is over. I think it's just great that the staff here is doing this giveaway, but it is kind of dragging along for a long time, and frankly, it seems most of the posts lately have been in the lounge section, or this "give away discussion section". I can think of a couple of folks who through PM's have stated that they'll be back once this is over.
I've noticed a couple who have dropped off the face of the earth since this has started. Seeing people win free stuff is fun, but I'll be glad when it gets back to the "old WEVO". More tech, news, reviews and projects and less noise. Then the serious AR folks will come back.

Hits are very important in trying to attract sponsors, and they pay the bills. And new members with different points of view is good for some of us older members who may be stuck in our ways(there's no helping FT, he's to old). If there are members who have shied away since the giveaway because of noise, then I'm sorry cause I like generating noise. Even if only 10% of new members drawn by the loot stick around to contribute, the Giveaway will have been a long term positive.

Stick has given me plenty of inspiration before I found WEVO, and the superb lens masters here have expanded my appreciation of the AR form. One of the best, CarbonScoring, is a neighbor I have somehow missed meeting at the local AR shop - Atomic Tactical.

Ha! Restating the obvious I know.

Giveaways are just hard to run perfectly. There are always unforeseen issues, logistical issues, and of course making everyone happy. You also have to run it in a manner where the sponsors get taken care of as well. It's a hard balancing act.

There's going to be another WEVO giveaway around summer time, I'm sure by then we will tweak this some more.

I do use FB - and Wevo. FB is were I get most of the world news from. My wife and I don't have a TV and even if we did there is pretty much no signal for one here in the mountains. I check all the new posts here and new threads and where I can contribute I do so. I actually became a member here before Sticks giveaway. I just wasn't actively participating here like I do now.

A big +1. Well said. Getting free stuff is really cool, and incredibly generous of the staff and sponsors, but it certainly isn't what keeps me here. Atmosphere (ie, low drama) and content is why I stay. I've been very fortunate to be recognized by UWone and Stick for participating (not sure if that is even supposed to be public), but I'd be here regardless because the regulars are good peeps.

GOST, don't take it personally. And I've been here as long as you, at least. Is there more traffic now? Yes. Is the content what you want to read from here on out? Most of it being in the lounge and an almost 3000 thread "give away discussion?". I think that's all folks are saying. Even without all of the "noise" there was always a bit of levity in the threads, it wasn't just dry reading. No one is complaining about the give away either. Hell, certainly not me, I won something I was actually in the process of shopping for. A couple of folks, myself included loved the forum more, pre-give away. The place was like a well published magazine, and nearly everything was AR related. I check for new content almost everyday, and there is less AR stuff, and it's more silliness. Have I taken part in the silliness? Yes. But it will be good when this is over. Folks will have won prizes, Stickman will have exceeded his expectations, UWone77 will want to sleep for a week or two, and the noise will decrease. The signal to noise ratio is quite high right now, those here only for a prize will go away, and that "noise" level will drop. That's all.

I plan on setting up shop here. I hope it grows. I liked the other sites, but they are so big, I just felt like every topic was covered before I ever even saw it, and it was useless to even click to try and help someone. I'd look at them for inspiration and ideas. Kinda like those Seekins lowers, seen a few pics of those and had to find one. Unfortunately none of the gun stores even heard of Seekins. I just want to say thanks for the snap shots for the visual aid though

I enjoy seeing all the masterful photography and everyone's new toys. Nailed it.

I'll also chime in and say the over all atmosphere in this forum feels much more inviting and open than some others I've poked around on. Plus multiple view points and different ideals and setups is always nice. Having a degree in photography makes me love love love some of the images I see around here. I registered back in January because I liked the review section (I found the site while researching an item), but never really had anything to contribute. The traffic here seemed a bit slow so I didn't frequent the site. I started coming here more and more because I was getting tired of other sites being too big, and this place had a really great atmosphere.

When I first saw the 100k posts, I didn't sign up because I felt that it should be the contributing members who benefit from it (and I didn't want to sign up for Facebook.) It's always annoyed me with giveaways when someone with 1 post comes in, wins the prize and then disappears. I didn't want to be that guy. If a new member wins (or doesn't), I really hope they stick around.

I plan on setting up shop here. I hope it grows. I liked the other sites, but they are so big, I just felt like every topic was covered before I ever even saw it, and it was useless to even click to try and help someone. Not only that, but sometimes, people are just downright rude when they think you're a "noob".

I have been on a rimfire site for about 10 years now. I LOVE my rimfire, but it's gotten to the point where I don't even look at the site much anymore. The rudeness of older members (including some mods) toward new members and people screaming at you to use search features, it turned me off. This is exactly what turned me off another "popular" AR15 website. I've tried using the search feature on some of these sites and I must say, many times the results are such an information overload it would take less time to re-ask the question than sift through all the useless search results. It's a discussion board, so discuss.

I must say, I'm more of a lurker than a contributor (and I don't always log in to lurk), simply because I'm fairly new to the AR platform. I'm learning, and enjoying the atmosphere in which I'm doing so. Seems to be a really nice group of people here and I hope, as time and money permit, to be able to glean more knowledge. And the fact that through this site and the giveaway I've found so many new products and websites, it just adds to the experience. Thanks to the WEVO old timers for making us noobs feel at home.

I left "the" popular AR15 site because of similar behavior you mentioned above. As a new member, I chimed in on a discussion that was underway about a certain shooting technique (using magazine as a monopod/or rest) and that a fairly advanced shooting course I'd been to in the Army taught that as part of the course. After posting that, I was berated as being a poser by some and that I didn't know what I was talking about by the rest. I left the site, because I don't need that type of stress in having to prove who I am in order for any post of mine to be read.

What, you didn't achieve operator status!?![BD] I still am on the other forums, one a little more than the other. I try to be a little more thick skinned, but sometimes they can wear you a little thin. The other sites remind me the Real Housewives shows my wife watches. They are a good place to get your drama. Agreed on both points. The search function replies and attempts to berate unsuspecting would be contributors is just exhausting to sift through. I personally couldn't care any less about what some toolbox on a gun forum thinks of the inherent operator-ness of my posts or post count, but between that and the constant "LaRue or you're a vagina" replies in response to every question about equipment it just gets tiresome. Not that I feel there's anything wrong with LaRue stuff, I don't know and don't care it's just an example. The thing is, this type of behavior is apparent at some level on literally every forum I have seen regardless of subject matter except this one. Which I appreciate very much, for whatever its worth. That apparently is not to be said there, because everyone was like I like running Tula and your bolt won't lock back with a H. So I posted:

Why build a rifle that cost that much if you can't afford to feed it? A $1000 rifle with good ammo will out perform a $3000 being fed Tula. Would you buy a Ferrari and pump 87 octane in it?

I was told operators train with cheap ammo. I always thought operators didn't care about ammo cost cause they didn't pay for it?

I got a temporarily banned from ARF for calling a guy a douchebag and he was the reason .22lr is still a rarity. When Cabela's opened here this summer, Walmart pulled of a feat of having 3000 bricks of .22 PER STORE, and a 3 brick limit per person. This ass was going thru the line, then posting he was changing cloths, hat, fake mustache, whatever, to go back thru the line and get more. He posted each time he did, with photos of his changed clothes, and that he moved stores and did it again. and again. and again. He ended up with *96* bricks of .22! And another problem I had was that most of the responders in the thread were saying 'Way to go!' 'Good for you' 'I'd do the same' and so on. I called him (and them) a douchebag and asked why he was above the rules, the reason my friends kids dont have .22 to shoot, yada. And of course here came the butthurt comments, I got a temp ban, and all my posts were deleted.

That's a fact.

I know on the last couple of giveaways, we've given away lowers to guys who never owned an AR before. Who knows if those receivers ever got built up.

I don't get what's wrong with an anderson lower besides the low pricepoint. I wouldn't have one if maryland legislation wasn't such a burden, but there's nothing wrong with the one I do have, and it's definitely on par with any other forged lower I've bought/handled.

I will agree there. The huge roll mark is an eyesore, but the one I have and the one my brother has are both nice uniform finish, fit is perfect, and they'll do the job intended for them.

yeah, thats the issue that had them sitting on the script and not budgeting it; they didnt want to release it as an 'R' rating. Which is stupid if you consider the fact that the people who are fans of deadpool don't want a pg 13 version anyway.

I keep posting the "I'm In" messages on Sticks FB page also, but I figure lightning isn't going to strike twice since I already won one of the Right to Bear Arms & Supply upper receivers and it's a really nice upper receiver. So, I'm happy to see other folks winning too. I just hope they all use what they win like I am doing. If I were to win Sticks duty upper, I'd just have to build another rifle. I can't imagine selling it. I'm getting to the point of "Oh, there's a roll pin - need to build a new gun!" [:)] The amusing part is that my wife isn't against me on this provided we have the bills paid of course. She was quite anti gun when I married her because she had never been around guns. After we moved here to Idaho from Finland her attitude about guns has changed dramatically. She has her own little Italian Tanfoglio .25 ACP pistol and knows how to use it too. I taught her. I bought her the pistol last Christmas, put purple grips on it for her and had it transferred to her so that she would fill out the 4473 form. (That was a test I wanted to do to verify that as a LEGAL immigrant with a green card, she'd get to have her pistol). It wasn't a problem - went through just fine.
