What continues to blow my mind is the sheer number of people with multiple accounts. Obviously, they can't bother to read page 1, post 1.... My head is hurting again.

I posted a new Sticky on Stick's FB page. If people can't read that... well, I'm not going to feel bad for them, when the manual account approval process stops and we close the giveaway thread. [:D]
Frankly, I can't believe you are manually processing accounts. If they're not smart enough to respond to a confirmation email, they're probably not smart enough to be playing with guns and bullets...

Screw 'em. It's not rocket science. If they are drawn, give them the directions to the nearest Holiday Inn Express.

I wouldn't even let my wife make an account after she read about this giveaway. Seems like it would be common sense not to be a douche and make multiple accounts.

Sounds like a good solution. Also increases the chances of the people who can follow directions the first time so I like that also :P

Is the only confirmation email the one you get when you make an account? Is there supposed to be another email sent to confirm entry? Sorry but that part really isn't clear in the list of rules.

Confirming your confirmation would be redundant... you posted to the forums. If you posted "I'm in" on the right post you are set. .... asked and answered. Sure to be asked again. SMFH

Oh I don't know, maybe this line at the very top: **IF YOU DON'T GET A CONFIRMATION EMAIL, I WILL MANUALLY APPROVE ACCOUNTS, BE PATIENT, BUT DO NOT CREATE MORE ACCOUNTS. AGAIN YOU WILL BE BANNED, AND I WILL NOT FEEL BAD **
Technically the email that is sent when you register for the forums in an activation email, not a confirmation email. Nowhere in it does it mention confirmation. Either way I guess it is very clear now that you guys hate new people and I'm sure you've seen enough idiots to justify it. I'm sorry I asked a question.

We don't hate new people. In fact we've probably one of the friendliest to new members. You probably don't agree because you're trying to split hairs between confirmation/activation emails. Over 2K+ people didn't seem to have this issue the last month or so.
Either way, let me know if you don't want to be here. I'll be happy to delete your account for you.

I'm not an admin, so I'm not involved with the rules, or confirmation or activation emails, but I can help you with a suggestion,
If you think this place isn't friendly to new people, they've added, as you'll note above, over 2000 people, who were not members here, until a gigantic giveaway was in the works. Second, go to ARF, they are some of the friendliest folks on earth. You'll be welcomed with open arms, and treated like a step child as they equate your low post count to your unworthy "noobness", and verbally bitch slap you for any opinion that anyone with greater status or post count, that disagrees with the status quo and established cliques .[:D]
It's not my place to set folks straight on the who's and what's and when's of this forum but it totally pisses me off to no end to see the people working so hard, to HELP new people get straight for this giveaway, get treated like crap from folks like yourself. On second thought ARF would be the perfect place for you and your smart assed attitude.
You can spank me later UWone77, I know, I'm out of line here, but it needed saying.

Wevo and 68Forums have been about the friendliest to new members I've encountered so far and I have pulled about the most information from these two than anywhere else. I'm not sure what makes you think I was screaming in my text. My original post was a simple question. The only thing that might be interpreted as screaming was when I quoted the first line in the giveaway thread that was in all caps. That wasn't me screaming, that was the admin.

Castiel, us WEVO members are very good people whom share common interest and are very mature. We don't hate, we appreciate, we all bring something to the table to share amongst each other. That set aside, the reason you got some backlash was not because of your "smartass" comment, but the choice of your wording. The fact that you're trying to set a difference between "confirmation" and "activation" is purely a troll move as we all know what the general meaning is. Regardless whether it's a confirmation or activation, it leads to the same place, a parking space for WEVO. NOW, with that said, how you start of your post is the troubling part and this is where english shines (I'm asian, go figure). Read the first four words....doesn't it sound sassy? that alone pretty is what got everyone questioning your motives and when you follow that up with what UWONE77 was simply trying to make it easy for himself, followed by your effort to distinguish the two.....it's a no no.
Again, word choice and the tone you set it in.
Welcome to Weapon Evolution board and enjoy your stay.

On a serious note, and this isn't for the WEVO regulars, but for those joining us late in the program.
If you're here to be one and done, I totally understand that. Most of you guys haven't been an issue.
If you're one of the few who keep asking when the drawing is, how many prizes there are, how you will be notified of your winnings, or just flat out too lazy to read the rules...
Well, Stick and I get rubbed the wrong way. Here's why. The giant list of retailers/manufacturers have dug deep into their pockets essentially taking away from their profits to bring you the opportunity to get free items. Especially, during this downturn in the AR/firearms market. We like to take care of the people that take care of us, so this giveaway is taking a bit longer, because we're going to promote the hell out of the sponsors. Which means taking pictures, drawing traffic to their pages, and increasing their exposure. In turn, hopefully the interaction and sales pick up, making this giveaway worth it for them. Things like this have to be mutually beneficial so we can continue this next year and beyond.
So, simmer down Sally's.... because there are plenty of people not complaining. [:D]

As a donor, I want to thank you and Stick for this. The feedback from people on facebook has been truly amazing, and we are so thankful we've been able to participate. The fact that you guys are trying to help out the companies who've donated is just awesome.
Good luck to everyone, I know there are a ton of awesome prizes that I'd love to have myself :)

It sucks that the bad apples are the ones that stand out, and all the beneficial results become overlooked, even if only momentarily. Thanks UWone77 and Stickman for going through the trouble this has ended up causing. Even if I don't win anything (which with my record, probably won't happen), I'm already reaping the benefits of the forum. Hopefully I can return the favor in small ways, with the knowledge I've gained in the few years I've been building and shooting.
On a side note, I think I'm going to end up reading every comment in the reloading section at least 3 times, now that I'm about to make that plunge!

If I was a manufacturer you can bet I'd donate to it. This all is truly awesome. Probably the only prizes in it that I couldn't use would be the Glock holsters since I don't own a Glock. If I ever buy one though, I'll remember those companies who have donated. I wish those holsters would work with my 1911.
I am truly astounded at what has been put into this giveaway. I've never seen anything like it. There are items in this giveaway I'd have to save for months and even a year or two to buy. Amazing does not even describe accurately what has been done. Thanks to all who have participated and to Stickman, Uwone77, those who work on this site and anyone remotely associated with having made this happen. When this is all over, Stickman and Uwone are going to need to go out and shoot some ammo, go home, have a BBQ and sit down for a couple quiet drinks I think. Didn't I read earlier someone was going to hand you guys over some bourbon and make you honorary Kentucky colonels? [:)]

This is really a good deal. I thought I had a decent grasp on the firearms/accessories community and this giveaway has opened my eyes to a TON of new business and items I plan to buy. There are Soooooo many companies out there who provide awesome products/services. I just wish I had enough money to buy something from all of them!!
We truly do appreciate the work you and Stick (and whoever else might be behind the curtain) have put into this.

Fully agree with some of the last posts, great marketing and win win for retailer and consumer. One of the reasons I come to forums is not just to learn but see what's out there, Stick has definitely gave me plenty of new research on what's out there and uncovered some interesting companies I never knew about. Thanks UW and Stickman for the hard work and putting up with a bunch of gun nuts that smell free stuff in the water.

You drink angry orchard? I love it, but had a bad experience. My hometown hosts what is likely one of the largest bonanza's in the country. $850,000 in prizes given away over the course of 3 days. $10 for a beer mug and all you can drink over the 3 days. They had angry orchard on tap last year. Worst hangover of my life.

So... approximately 2,400 entries to date.
What are the odds with the prize pool now??
A rough estimate would be if there are 2,400 entrants and 60 separate prizes you would have around 2.53% chance of winning (roughly 1/40). Each additional prize added would increase your chances of winning by about .042% and if 100 more people entered it would decrease your chances by about 0.1% (assuming 60 separate prizes).

I wasn't actually interested in calculating any odds. I ran a quick rough count of how many people entered because someone pointed out that though Stick had picked up some 10,000 or more likes that many of the donor companies had only picked up a couple thousand. When I did the quick check of the number of people who had entered then it made sense why the donor companies had only picked up about 1/5th of the likes on their pages than Stick picked up.

My wish list was already long, but if I could pick up anything at all from this then it will be quite welcome. Now I'm not just shopping for me, but for my wife and any future kids. I'm making it a goal of mine in the next couple of years to be fully stocked up so our future generations will have plenty of cool stuff, as my grandfather had back in the 60's bought some rifles to give to his kids and future grandkids. Too bad he wasn't into AR's and FAL's, but I guess nobody was back then. He had some really great Smith revolvers, two or three 1911's, and for us some OU's, SxS's, and pre 64 Model 70's. I'm thinking the legacy I want to leave is some AR's, FAL or two, PTR91 or other G3, etc. Gotta get to work!
So I'm not just in it for me, I'm thinking of kids 8-10 years from now that aren't even around yet, and then theirs 30 years or so after that. Dunno if others are thinking about it like that, but I am.

I love how you guys are breaking it down by odds...
What's not calculated in the odds are long time WEVO members will have several chances at drawings just for them. Thanks for being members.
That's awesome. I signed up early on but never really took the time to come check out the forum until now. I think it's great that you would set aside some of the prizes to reward the guys that made this place what it is.
I love shooting but I've never been able to get my hands on a good rifle. I'm more of a pistol shooter but would absolutely LOVE to put an AR together. We've always put our money into our kids (private school, competition dance teams, traveling baseball teams, etc) rather than ourselves so having a spare $1,000 lying around has just never been a reality. Now pistols ... I'm all about my Glock and have put several thousand rounds through it. It's an EDC item and rarely leaves my side. Rifles, however, have just never been a necessity, unfortunately.
So, I don't really have anything to contribute to any of the discussions but I can already tell this is a very cool place to belong to. You guys have really created something special here. If I ever do get my hands on a good rifle you can bet I'll be right here chatting it up with y'all.
And it's been said a million times already ... HUGE thanks to Stick and OWone77 and the other guys behind the scenes and of course all of the incredibly generous sponsors for donating their time and money into this massive giveaway!! I've learned of some amazing companies through this and I hope they benefit 10-fold from the exposure.

I've noticed this, and not always associated with a giveaway, some just go straight to the classifieds for their first post. I thought this was strange. A lot of forums require a new member have at least 30 "meaningful" posts to use the classifieds. "+1's" and the little "thumbs up" smiley thing don't cut it. The rational being, that most of the con and scam artists aren't going to take the time to sit and type logical and meaningful replies to 30 different posts. That policy won't stop a truly determined scammer, but most folks will just go on to the next forum.
I will do a paypal gift - reluctantly, with a long time member, but I'd just rather pay the additional 3% for the protection. If someone try's to scam you that way, and after exhausting all channels, they can be charged for wire fraud. Then you can probably bet your ass they'll send the item, return your money, or face a felony charge and face doing some time washing someone's underwear in the pokey. At least that's what I read on one of PayPal's occasional "policy" emails they send every now and then, that a person can be charged with wire fraud for not sending an item or refund. [crazy]

Pistol pay exists for a reason. PayPal won't honor anything firearm related. I'd rather use an escrow service like pistolpay. That way there is even less of a chance getting burned.

One of my businesses is e-commerce. I have an online store. Most financial institutions are going to side with the buyer in case of disputes, unless as a seller you have all your documentation solid; tracking number, delivery confirmation, etc. I've had folks attempt to pull one over and claim they never received the package. The documentation saved me from taking a financial hit. If someone is not willing to do it "the right way", walk away.

I've noticed that Ebay sellers are almost always using tracking numbers, lately. A lot of the music I listen to is either not in stock (at local stores) or outdated, or rare, etc. I can almost always find what I'm looking for on Ebay, though. So I buy a lot of stuff there. No matter how small the purchase, there is usually a tracking number associated with it. From Gaspipeshooters experience, and others whom I've also heard the same thing from, I guess there are just about as many scammer "buyers" as there are scamming "sellers". Knock on wood, I've never really had a problem yet, and hope I've never have one.

I worked for PayPal for three and a half years and I will be the first to tell you how buyer-centric the policies are written, and the main reason is financial security on the part of the payment processor themselves. They have a lot more recourse and opportunities to collect from sellers than buyers. I use PayPal all the time as both a buyer and a seller to this day, even knowing tens of thousands of horror stories from my time spent there. It's a scary way to transact sometimes, but if you cover your butt a little bit it's still one of the better options out there.
I will tell you for certain to always get a tracking number for anything you ship whether you're selling an item or returning one, and if the dollar amount of the transaction is $250 or more absolutely do not ship without a signature confirmation.
Obviously cross-border transactions are a lot riskier. I can not tell you how many times sellers lose their money shipping out of the country or to extremely rural locations.
It's ok to buy and sell individual gun parts, just not guns themselves. Please do NOT sell guns through PayPal, they'll shut both parties accounts down and freeze your money for 180 days.
For God's sake do as much homework on the buyer or seller as possible and carefully read the description and examine the pictures if you're making a purchase. You would not believe how many people completely ignore that and buy from shady ass people without so much as a twinkle of caution.
