I think since I was lucky enough to win in the 50k giveaway, and I finished my latest rifle with the parts from that, I'm going to pay it forward with the Parallax rail I've been given.

My father has always supported all my my extra curricular activities from skiing, dirt bikes, fishing, guns, and all my sports teams. The least I can do is pay it forward to him. He has had a 16" bushmaster that he bought years back that he has always left completely stock. Milspec handguard and stock, etc. I bought him a scope for it that he wanted for last Christmas and had it installed for him. He doesn't like the a2 post in front of it though, so I bought him a low pro gas block for it for Father's Day. Now I think he's gonna get a nice surprise in the form of a FFSSR rail and a new stock come
Christmas morning!

I just need to pick a stock for him!

I bought a Lantac here from one of the sponsors who was having a sale. Got a great deal on it, couldn't find it at that price anywhere else. It's for my AR-10 that I'm going to try to finish as soon as I get back from a short trip. I'm curious to see how effective that brake is on a 7.62 AR patterned rifle. I just don't see why all these people are too ignorant to read the rules. Almost everything I can think of was laid out and/or answered multiple times. Just sit back and enjoy the ride. If you're lucky enough to win, that's awesome! I never expected anything from this GAW or the last, and the wealth of information I've gained from this forum is worth more than any prize I think I could win.

Whew, I gotta take a breather and get this out real quick...

I'm about to start training to be a pilot in a couple weeks. I was supposed to start in August, but I hurt my ankle, and only just healed enough to get going again. This is the second time I've gone through the anxiety of prepping for a one-shot chance at fulfilling my life long dream. Not knowing 100% if I will be up for the challenge is nerve racking sometimes. Don't get me wrong, I believe I have what it takes, and I'll give it my all. Damned if I made it this far just to fail and completely revise my life ambitions.

On top of that, my first kid is about to make her appearance. To make it interesting, the due date is 6 days before I leave for a month. You gents that have kids probably know what I'm going through with the wife... no offense to the mothers on here!

This giveaway has given me an outlet to get my mind off of the stress. It's been a hell of a laugh, and often the highlight of my day to read the nonsense and hilarity, such as Gost's Commando thread!

I'm not one to tell you how to do your job (which you are handling like a pro), so I would just suggest to do what you feel is fair to both the person who won, as well as yourself for doing this pro bono and having a life other than sending us stuff. I would say 7 days is plenty at my work we have a red tag section for stuff we may toss out (remove from another location) others have 3 days to claim it. Maybe an email is sent. I think if you are emailing so not flooded with PMs 3-7 days would be good. If it's us taking initiative to email you first after swing our name 7 days would be good. Most check an email for everything and a forum as time permits. But I check everyday so any amount over 24hrs will work for me.

I also check every day here, but that's also because I'm actually using and being part of the forum. There's great folks here and the subject matter is something I'm interested in and know some about.

If someone who won even got sent an e-mail and didn't respond to that well I'd figure that person is SOL. When I found out that I won the upper receiver, I didn't bug UWone about it. The rules stated to claim the prizes when the giveaway was over. UWone PM'd me, I answered, it arrived. Seems pretty simple to me.

There should be no 'chasing down' of people to claim a prize at all. If they go unclaimed, then they can be put back to giveaway to someone who does claim them. If people are too dumb to figure out how to answer an e-mail that they won something, well, then they don't deserve it anyway. If they were smart to begin with they'd be participating in this forum rather than just posting "I'm in" in the wrong place [;)]

Hell, I'm at work all day and night, and I still make time to check into FB and forums after work and next day before I leave for work.

Yes, but UW announced FT, GOST, and myself for the parallax rails in this thread on page 71 or 72, not the winners thread. When I finally saw that I had won this thread was already 2 pages ahead. It doesn't matter to me, we were the only ones announced in this thread, as our names weren't drawn from the numbers but rather the veterans member list. The bulk of the winners will be announced over there.

On the same page, I like that you've locked the winners thread, UW. The WEVO 50k winners thread got a bit cluttered since it was also the discussion thread. I guess the more of this you do the more streamlined it becomes. I don't think I could wrap my head around doing all of this along with a demanding job.

No, I understand its not WEVO specific, since I got the word originally on FB and made my way here from there; but, in my opinion, if they aren't at least lurker-activity level, then its almost too plain that they are in just for the freebies. While they do have the right to do so, it's kind of taking advantage of the situation. I see a lot of people on FB joining giveaways and similar situations simply to grab something free, sometimes to just resell because they have no use for it, and it chaps my ass a bit taking away from others that would greatly appreciate winning and would put anything they got to good use themselves, or in a worse case scenario maybe end up putting it back into the WEVO community by paying it forward to someone that had a stronger need than themselves. Not trying to rant, just my opinion.

However, how many times does Stick have to post on his FB to come check the forums to see if you've won? He does it on almost every post so there's really no excuse to not knowing. Maybe the emails went into his Gmail's Promotion tab and he never checks there, or even knows that it's up there.

Sorry UW for being the cause of a stink. In my defense I was very surprised I won something at all let alone a very nice set of items I've been smiling for days everytime I think about it. Some do need to remember either way this is Sticks giveaway and he can run it however he feels and It was stated that some prizes were going to be given not only to the mini facebook game winners but to Wevo members that met Sticks and your qualifications. You even stated when I won that you wanted to disclose that I was selected much the way gost, ride, and tom was for the rails. So, with that being said please enjoy everything these guys are doing for us, enjoy the gunporn and interesting vendors you get to meet, and enjoy the Wevo site and all it's fine members. I'm pretty sure others would back me up when I say if you cant enjoy all these things then you can hit the F!@#^ door, there are a couple thousand people that wouldn't mind their odds improving. My wife was scared when we started having kids, that they would be as big as I was when born. My parents tell me stories that the doctor that delivered me called in all the other doctors and nurses on the floor to look at me. My mom was tiny and she delivered me at 9 lbs 10.5 oz and 23 3/4 inches. Its funny though, I was a giant baby, and am only 5' 10" and 170lbs now.

Earlier, we got an email complaining about the number of members here that won ... that were members prior to 2010 apparently.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see any winners that have been members prior to 2010.

In fact the winners I've seen that have been members... the only posts they have here are for the various giveaways. Otherwise, they started posting here since the giveaway started. Most have 1 post. The only winners I've really recognized being somewhat longer time members is Gaswamper and I think he joined on the last giveaway.

At first I was pissed... now I'm just highly amused.

I don't join forums because of giveaways; I join for the information I can gather and/or share. After all, that is the purpose of forums, right? My usual M.O. is to lurk for a while before I become "posting active" to check out the atmosphere and see how folks are treated. There are forums I have joined that I never participate in simply because the "veterans" treat newcomers like their personal whipping boys. I've owned a forum and moderated more than one, and most of the giveaways I ran or have seen on other forums or Facebook pages are specifically set up to promote and help grow the forum or page. Growing membership helps sponsors get some return on their investment, and sponsors help pay the bills associated with forums. For people with no intention of participating, or who are in such a rush to get something free that they can't be bothered to read the rules and do it correctly, I say piss on 'em. They are greedy little bastages who are the very definition of "the entitlement generation".
