So, when I started doing the "likes" and thanking folks on facebook, I came across Mark from MDWS, who donated a .277 barrel. Well, I didn't figure I had a chance in hell of winning, so I went to his website and contacted him. He told me he had some "blem" 18" SS barrels to sell. I got a hell of a discount, and I defy anyone to point out a blem that will show. But he said no matter how miniscule, it's a blem and he sold me the barrel. When Aero Precision came online as a forum sponsor, I went to their website. They had slick side (no FA), perfect for a dedicated varmint rifle, upper receivers, "blem" uppers at one heck of an unreal price. Again, it came in the mail, and again, if defy someone to find the blem on it. I still haven't. But, had I, I wouldn't have cared, I was building a varmint rifle which would spend most of it's time near the ground on a bipod, and was going to get scratched, probably on it's maiden voyage. I thought the Stickman 100k was bringing me great luck and good fortune, when the unreal happened. The last piece I needed to finish my upper was a hand guard. I was shopping the 'net for the one that was "just right" for this, and lo and behold, the unthinkable happened. I was chosen by Stickman on his FB page to win a hand guard. I just about **** my pants. The luck and timing of all of this was just unreal. I've never been lucky as far as winning anything goes. I'm pretty sure this Stickman 100K giveaway used up what ever available luck I had, but that's cool too. I'm ending up with a complete, top notch upper at 1/2 or less than it would have normally cost me.

So, I got to see a bunch of new vendors, by participating in the contest and viewing the FB pages and websites of the vendors. I got stuff at greatly reduced prices, and I actually won an expensive hand guard. As far as vendors getting exposure, and me getting reduced cost and free stuff, this thing went just like it should. I'm not one to name rifles, but I might have to call this the 100K upper.[:D][wow]

That's cool. I used to hunt with a Contender in .30-.30, with an old school Contender. The old models with the solid wood grip and fore end. That was definitely a handful, especially sighting it in over sand bags at the range. Got a CA blacktail with it. Best eating deer I ever had. But the muzzle blast and shockwave that old wood grip sent down my hand while working up loads was a handful.

I have a funny feeling that the Sig "arm brace" is going to go the way of the dinosaur around here. I've never seen anyone use it as an arm brace, just a really crappy "stock". Wardens and the Sheriffs departments are catching onto that also. We'll see.

I've been skiing since I was 2, I know the value of a good set of water proof insulated outerwear...she's been sloshing around in the snow in jeans for 24 years.

She did say she wanted a handgun though, so I took her to the gun shop and she promptly picked out the prettiest one there... A $3500 Les Baer 1911.

A little too soon to say right now... Finishing up my current build and got a samson 12" rail on it... Really like it so far but you never know... Might swap em out an see how I feel... Either way I see a new rifle in my future....
