San Tan Tactical (http://www.santantactical.com/) was kind enough to send me one of their new upper receivers. The San Tan (http://www.santantactical.com/) STT-15 Lower Receiver has been quite popular with the ambi AR crowd. They've been working hard on their new upper receiver as many of their customers have been asking for one. After many months of designing and redesigning, they've finally come out with an upper receiver they're satisfied with.

I don't have all the specs on the upper, but it is made from 7075 T6 Billet Aluminum. The upper receiver will come with the forward assist and dust cover installed, so no upper parts kit purchase will be necessary.

ETA: These are now available through the Revolvr App (http://www.revolvr.com/new-san-tan-upper-receiver-with-fa.html). http://www.revolvr.com/new-san-tan-upper-receiver-with-fa.html

Introductory Price $184.95 shipped

Description:

There are many different AR-15 upper receivers on the market today. When designing this one there were a few features that were addressed. It was created lighter, stronger, and all while looking good doing it. One distinguishing characteristic is the truss pockets. The truss design acts similar to a bridge that carries and distributes the stress across the entire platform verses putting all of the stress on the material right behind the threads of the receiver. It also in turn helps improve your accuracy. The new STT receiver also comes in at only 8.2 ounces. That’s lighter than some slick side uppers!

Specifications:

• Single billet 7075 -T651 aerospace grade aluminum
• Fully Assembled with forward assist
• Machined in T markings
• Interfaces with all AR15/M16/M4 weapons systems
• Mil Spec Type III class II hard coat anodized Black
• Only 8.9 Ounces (with upper parts kit installed)
• Backed by STT’s unmatched lifetime warranty.
• Made in the USA!

Ahhh! Why couldn't the 50k giveaway be right now while I could claim that lower. The upper is freaking amazing like the lower and as soon as I move out of Maryland I will be buying a set for a proper rifle build.

Might look cool with an AXTS lower.

Or it might not match at all and be entirely too busy.

Really though, not my cup of tea.

Agreed......it definitely looks like it would match the AXTS lower perfectly, but it really doesn't match the SanTan lower at all...looks out of place.

I think the upper would look better without the cuts on the one side. Doesn't really do it for me, even if the listed weight it better than most billets. They should have just kept the design of the solid side with the subtle logo, I think it would have worked better. this just draws too much attention IMHO.

I love this set. Probably my favorite billet set.
BALIOS Lightweight set is a VERY close second.

I was fortunate enough two introduce to companies together a few weeks ago.

The Geissele logo looks great on these custom Receiver sets San Tan Tactical made up. Tungsten cerakote with custom serial numbers. And no, they aren't available for sale.

Still upset I couldn't claim that lower at the time of the giveaway. I'd have a nice little San Tan pistol by now.

Just picked up the SanTan billet upper from Rainier Arms. I could not get my Bravo 16"BFH barrel to go into the upper. I did put high temp grease on. The barrel would not go 1/4" into receiver. I tried this Bravo barrel on a Forged upper and it went in No problem. What I also encountered, I could not insert a Giesselle Reaction Rod into the rear of the SanTan upper. The rod would not go in pass 1/4". Definitely something wrong here either too much finish coat or out of spec. I e-mailed SanTan and I'm waiting on their response.
Still a couple of days and No response from SanTan Tac. You have to fill out a Request form on their Web-site. Since I did so I keep getting SPAM junk mail everyday. I'm going to return this upper for a refund.
I contacted Rainier Arms and I asked to ship it back to them and asked for a Pre-paid shipping label. Rainier did Not want to pay to ship it back to them so I had to cough up the $10. I guess Rainier will take your money but damn if you want to get it back.
