Have you ever come across an accessory that makes you want the buy the $900 item it was designed for? Well, I had that exact feeling this past Saturday when I stopped by F3 Tactical (http://www.f3tac.com) for the Spartan Village (http://www.spartan-village.com) new product reveal.

Sure, I’ve had pipe dreams of someday being able to justify buying a Crye Precision Airframe helmet. But I’ve always been worried about the slippery slope…First it’s the helmet, then I’m spending hundreds of dollars on Crye combat uniforms…and, of course, the elbow and knee pads that go with (http://www.cryeprecision.com/C-111/Combat-Apparel). Before you know it, I’ve got a full on addiction to various shades of Multicam (http://multicampattern.com/multicam_patterns/) created by a hipster Art School graduate based in New York City. I don’t even think they’ve developed a twelve-step program to get over THAT kind of addiction yet. At any rate, I digress…

Spartan Village revealed their new cover for the Crye Airframe helmet. This one was created by a couple of guys who actually use this stuff in the field everyday, and it was clear as I got the “tour” that a lot of thought went its design. Like many accessories, the Spartan Village Airframe cover fixes problems with the one sold for the helmet by Crye.

As you can see by the photos, panels of hook-and-loop are placed in some really key locations to make the most use out of your headgear’s real estate. Additionally, the hook-and-loop is sewn with pockets that work with the clips of a new line of accessory holders Spartan Village has designed.

These holders eliminate the need for the bungee cords that are currently used for added security if all the “hooks” decide to let go of the “loops”.

Touching this helmet was dangerous. The more I fingered it, the more I wanted to rush home to place an order with TNVC (http://tnvc.com/?s_cs=1&s=crye+airframe).

Also on display was Spartan Village’s new plate carrier. It’s a pretty Keep It Simple Stupid carrier with some important features.

There are a series of elastic loops to secure Comm’s cables, and the front panel is designed to be interchangeable with additional panels. So guys who fill different roles depending on the mission can quickly switch up the set up of their kit.

On the back, Spartan Village has also designed various easy-to-change mission oriented set-ups. This one has several pouches for various critical items, as well as a pocket to store a tool like the bolt cutters shown here.

Spartan Village is in the process of bringing their new website on-line, and they offer a number of other products from helmet counter weights for guys running nods, to specialized leads for guys who run with a K-9 partner. The two guys behind this company are real-world guys who are super approachable. I'm looking forward to keeping my eye on this growing company.
