Life got in the way for the longest time. Both in posting here and building rifles. I wanted to share the two rifles that I have built.

1st one:

This is my 16" LW Middy.

The upper is a Palmetto State Armory upper that came with the MOE MBUS, I added the Magpul handguard. The lower is a Rock River Armory that I purchased complete except for the Mapul furniture, BAD lever and the MI slip over sling point. The optic is a Primary Arms MD-6. This is my favorite configuration so far of all my builds. Light with plenty of reach. My older eyes though may require a 4x optic soon.

2nd one:

This is the 20" SPR concept rifle. This was designed by my oldest boy who enjoys to go shooting as well.

The upper is a RRA complete upper. The lower is a Del-Ton lower with a JP Enterprises Reduced Trigger Spring set. Of course, more Magpul furniture completes the lower. The scope is one of Primary Arms 6x ACSS scopes. Still need to get this one completely dialed in, but I really like it so far. The paint job on the rifle is simply Krylon.

what's the 20" group at 100y? what kind of load?

voodoo_man, we still have not had the time to get it completely zeroed. The last time we were able to get to the range we had it at 10" at 100 yds due to failing light. Our goal is to get back out soon, but I don't know yet when that will be.

BTW, congrats on being the first winner!

The scope is one of Primary Arms 6x ACSS scopes.

How are you liking this scope & reticle? For the price it seems like a no brainer

DutyUse, the scope and reticle are great value for the money. Again, I need more trigger time with it. So far, I am very impressed with Primary Arms optics.

Can you keep us posted on the 20"? I have been looking at those scopes for an SPR type rifle. I am also in the market for a decent dot for my AR pistol in 300 Blk.

Took my boys shooting yesterday. Still did not get as much time as I wanted on the 20" SPR concept rifle, but I and my oldest boy did get some trigger time at 100yds off a bipod. We both agreed we could have shot better with a bench and sandbags, but here goes:

http://i776.photobucket.com/albums/yy49/clayandjulie/photo.jpg (http://s776.photobucket.com/user/clayandjulie/media/photo.jpg.html)

I was shooting a 2 rd group at the pistol zero target.

http://i776.photobucket.com/albums/yy49/clayandjulie/photo1.jpg (http://s776.photobucket.com/user/clayandjulie/media/photo1.jpg.html)

My son's two 2 rd groups were in the chest box. His eyes are better than mine.

We are using American Eagle Green tip ammo that we bought at wally world. It is the best balance we can get between cheap enough to shoot with consistent quality.

The target was one of the ones that came in a Recoil magazine in the past. It was what I had on hand to shoot.

A bad day of shooting is still better than no day of shooting.

Nice. How much roughly does the second rifle weigh? Next build I kind of want what you have :P

BP_Z28 it weighs with bipod right at 9 lbs. Not the lightest thing around, but handy enough. My son really digs the JP Enterprises trigger spring set. It may not be as nice as a CMC trigger or a Geissele trigger, but for the money it is something to look at.

i spent a lot of time looking at ballistics numbers and ended up doing an 18" for my longer range. build. Used RRA upper/lower, WOA SS barrel with a JP handguard. I may get it out this weekend but it's pretty dialed in. If you're just building a bench gun, do whatever length you want but if you plan on packing it ever, consider the shorter lengths.

I can also vouch for the JP reduced power trigger springs... for $10, it's a fine trigger. Another trick is that you can get a small allen key set screw and thread it through the grip screw and push up on the back of the trigger a little to reduce the pull even more.

Ive got the JP trigger springs on all my guns but i just scored a timney drop in trigger from a friend who just never put it in and wow... the improvement is really amazing... of course they are about $175 new but i got a decent deal.
