i know very little about suppressors in general, but am tasked with looking up info for a relative that doesn't do the whole forum thing. is there any reason NOT TO get a surefire 762 mini for a 300BLK SBR (10.X")

i'd like to hear opinions if you based your assumption that it was going to be dedicated to that 300blk SBR

i'd also like to hear if those opinions change if it was mainly going to be used on the 300blk, but would possibly be used on a 5.56 AR of 14.5"-18"

If you go with a Mini, it will be much louder than a non-mini. If your getting it for not needing to use hearing protection in the outdoors then you would not get the mini. You must wear hearing protection with the mini.

Note that I'm talking from a 5.56 perspective and not a 300BLK subsonic perceptive. There should be some tests on the net where they did measurement tests. I would suspect the 300BLK would still require hearing protection with the mini. With a mini I can get away with not doubling up my hearing protection, while with a regular one I could probably get away without wearing protection.. but I still do since my ears are more sensitive.

But it's not an apples to apples comparison. I'm not saying you don't need hearing protection (I don't have the numbers in front of me), but comparing a 5.56 RC and a 5.56 Mini to the 7.62 side isn't the same thing.

The 7.62 Mini is a 5.56 RC with a bigger hole at the end. To the ear, I don't notice a huge difference. A 5.56 Mini is obviously going to be a louder. How much louder? I can't answer that for a few more months...

The minis are more of a concussion reducer than a true sound suppressor. When shooting supersonic they do not provide hearing safe levels, especially with shorter barrel. But luckily with the 300blk you can shoot subsonic.

I don't personally think the Surefire SOCOM cans do very well with 300 Ammo. AAC on the other hand... the 762SDN6 is what I use for 300BLK.

Exactly, the 762SDN6 is one of the best 300blk cans on the market. I would also look at the Griffin Armament Recce7, I've been running one for almost a year on my blackout and 5.56 rifles and I'm a big fan.

No suppressor does on the ar platform.

Thanks for the info. I'm suprised as they advertise it as being specifically made for the shorter 30 cal rounds
