I started a 300 Blackout pistol build a couple of months ago. This is my first build and need a buffer assembly to complete everything. What kind of buffer and tube are you guys running?

The most common are:

Phase 5 WSI Hex One (http://phase5wsi.com/hexone-c-complete-pistol-buffer-tube-assembly-hexone-c.html)

Phase 5 WSI Hex-2 (http://phase5wsi.com/hex-2-pistol-buffer-tube-hex-2-clone.html)

KAK Buffer Tube (http://www.kakindustry.com/ar-15-parts/lower-parts/buffer-tubes-and-parts/pistol-buffer-tubes/sig-sb15-pistol-buffer-tube-kit-plain)

I've got the Phase 5 Hex-2 on my pistol:

Same. Hex two and sig brace. If I were to do it over id just buy the smooth phase 5 tube and sig brace. I think I may want a shorter LOP on my pistol than the hex 2 provides.

When I was waiting for my stamp to come in on my last pistol build I was using the Enhanced KAK tube. Like the others mentioned it has the shoulder made into it. This made it perfect when throwing it up to my shoulder.

That's a sweet pistol you have there. It's what I had in mind when I started my build. Is there a secret to posting pics? I looked but didn't see how to post them.

To post a picture you put it somewhere like imageshack then you open it in that place where you have it, copy the link to it then click the little icon with the tree on it (3rd icon from the right above where you type the message). That will open the image message box. Just paste the link to your picture there and it will show up here in the forum with your message post. [:)]

I got a smokin' deal on the Adams Arms piston kit and the Voodoo Innovations Melonited barrel. I wanted to experiment with a piston system and the price was right. I've changed the grip to a Magpul so I can store my Sig Brace letter inside the storage space of the grip, and I'm likely going to change the muzzle device. I've only gotten to do a short test fire session to make sure it functions properly, but so far so good. I realy like the length of pull the Phase 5 Hex 2 and Sig Brace give me. I was a serious trapshooter in years past, and just feel more comfortable with a little longer length of pull.

i recommend getting the extended buffer tube with the sig brace. Works a lot better than a regular pistol tube. Amazon has the KAK knockoffs for $40.

Not to sidetrack too far, i just put together my first pistol.now i cannot pull the trigger on the brace for some reason...maybe it looks goofy, uncomfortable..hell i don't know.....but then again i havent physically played with one...

Its either take a guess and get/play with the brace save up more and pay another $200 and SBR it...

Oh...and im just using a regular ol' phase 5 round tube..

Ill say i fought the sig brace for about a year. i too said it was goofy, stupid, looked bad etc but my friend got one and i fell in love the first time i shot it. Super comfortable and with the extended buffer tube it really makes the length of pull about like an SBR. I live on the border of AR/TN and have family i visit regularly in FL so the SBR was out for me.

Oh, sig braces are on ebay for cheap too.

I put these pics up in another thread but here they are again. The law tactical folding buffer tube attachment does add another inch or so but still, just the extended buffer tube made a big difference.

Yep. Sig brace for interstate travel. When you look at it as 120 bucks for the brace VS 200 bucks to make it an SBR, SBR wins in my opinion... But like the previous poster said, I am 1/4 mile away from PA in one direction, and 10mins from WV in the other direction. I can't take a SBR to these places as easily as the pistol. If you're staying in state with the gun, SBR wins for me.

Id really encourage anyone who doesnt like the brace to try one first. It's really comfortable. I thought it was the dumbest thing ever until i finally used it then i ordered five minutes later. For me, the flexibility, slightly lower cost and not having extra ATF intrusion is well worth the small aesthetics of a "true" stock.

I'm not sure if this works for 300 BLK, but Thordsen Custom (http://www.thordsencustoms.com/shop/AR-PISTOL/p/ENHANCED-AR-PISTOL-BUILDERS-PACKAGE-x3607311.htm) makes one as well (I personally have no experience with this particular item, but I've seen it here and there). Particularly interesting to note is the saddle (stock) which somewhat resembles a traditional stock and not something like an SB-15.

If you know who Chris Tran is, you'll occasionally see him throw up some pictures of Thordsen stock. However, he made one statement very clear:

"In the video, I mentioned that the Thordsen Enhanced Buffer Tube Kit separately and without the CAA saddle had been determined as NOT A STOCK as per the BATFE, and that Thordsen Customs provides a certificate from the BATFE stating such. This is not exactly correct. Thordsen Customs issues a letter stating the BATFE opinion regarding their enhanced buffer tube kit as not a stock, but is is not a certificate per se, it is the BATFE opinion on the configuration of the kit itself.

It is also important to note that the BATFE has issued an opinion on the CAA saddle kit as well, and in their opinion, the CAA attached to a buffer tube does not qualify as a stock, but not specifically the Thordsen Customs kit and the CAA saddle together.

It is still up to the end user to check their local laws and ordinances, and to do their own due diligence regarding local laws and regulations before you build your own specific pistol out in the jurisdiction you live in.

.pdfs of the BATFE determination letters are available via Thordsen Customs' website, and I have provided a pic of the documentation from Thordsen Customs itself so you can weigh out the benefits/risks for yourselves."

Here's a picture of it from Chris Tran's facebook page: Thordsen stock (https://www.facebook.com/ChrisTranFive0/photos/pb.537883662953269.-2207520000.1412527894./710771145664519/?type=3&theater)

Not as difficult as you may think. Yes It is an extra form or two but still there isn't much to it. You just need to fill out a 5320.20 for each state. You can get them validated for one year at a time. So yes you have to do it every year but it only cost a little time and a couple stamps and your GTG.

I thought you had to notify them 30 days prior every time and receive written permission that had to be carried with you? Either way, too much trouble for me as much as I'm mobile across several states.
