We've had people asking us quite a bit if the new Streamlight Protac Rail Mount lights work with our Scout mounts. They do. The Streamlight bodies have the same lug shape and hole locations as Surefire. This also means they leave quite a bit of material that causes clearance problems, but unfortunately the Streamlight bodies aren't compatible with Scout heads and tailcaps.

They seem pretty decent for a budget, Chinese made light. Beam profile is similar to the Malkoff E1T and Surefire M300C.

One caveat: the 2 cell Protac Rail Mount is a bit difficult to use with our inline mounts because Streamlight made the rear of the body longer, and it partially obscures the forward-most mounting screw. You'll have to use a ball-tipped allen key, or go with our offset scout mount instead.

We have a very limited number of Streamlight Protac Rail Mount 1 combo packages available. These include your choice of Arisaka Inline or Offset Scout mount, and the pricing is cheaper than you can purchase one of these lights online from any vendor if you factor in the mount. The forum discount code "wevo" will also work. :)

I own several Elzetta lights, top notch stuff, but honestly, how big is the market for Elzetta bodies? I'd say a fraction of a fraction of guys using Surefire. Probably not worth it from a manufacturer stand point, but I could be wrong.

Thank you! I sent you a little something extra, too. :)

Order arrived today, the "little something extra" is awesome [adore] very much appreciated !!

Edit: Now, let's talk about customer service. I had some (self induced) problems getting the mount/light to work on a specific upper rail setup. I sent Will a note just to let him know there might be issues. He goes into the shop, puts together the same set of parts and gets it to work. Sends me a note, "Try doing this ..." It seems I was using the wrong points in the mounting slots for the screws that hold the light. You would think an old fart could have figured it out [bash] I honestly didn't think there was enough adjustment to make it work, so I didn't try. [BD]

Problem solved !! That is customer service !!

I got my protac today. One thing that really stands out vs the 300 is how yellow the light is. The 300 is much whiter and it seems brighter because of it. The price is right and it does feel well built. Also on my parallax Keymod rail with magpul Mbus the head won't clear. I had to mount it upside down till I get my Mbus Pro in. Then I'll mount it up like I want it.

I'm running the offset mount BTW. It probably would clear fine with the inline mount.

Messing around with the GoPro and the ProTac. I love the mount, finally have the light mounted how I want it. Clears the Mbus sights now. I may still move it up once I get some Mbus Pros. I still like the 300 better but this is definitely a usable light.

We're waiting on tailcaps to come in next week, but there are a small number of 600 series complete lights available right now. 300 series complete lights will be available when the tailcaps arrive. Vertical grips for KeyMod and M-Lok are also back in stock.

We also have a few new products in our lineup including our KeyMod QD mounts, which are 7075 aluminum, 0.19 oz, and 0.167" high, and use BCM's patent pending reverse threaded screws.

The other new products are low profile Picatinny rail sections for KeyMod and M-Lok. These are 5 slots long and use three screws for maximum strength, spreading the stress of high torque accessories like bipods or vertical grips over more slots on your rail. The reduced height pulls Picatinny accessories a little closer, too.

Got my 300 series light today with the 45 degree M-Lok offset mount.

My only question is WHY in the hell did I not get one of these sooner? [:D]

Seriously. That thing is bad ass. And after some tinkering around I got the mount in the exactly most perfect position, or at least what I think is so. Holy crap man, that thing is great. It's tight in up to the rail, has options for slight adjustments on mounting...

I use a VFG so I can still keep tension on the rifle and have my thumb free to flicker the light as I need to.

I am seriously going to take that thing out at night and see what it is like in the complete dark. What I also might do is sit in the dark and wait for a piggy to come by and wait for the flash. [:D]

Man I have to hand it to Slippers. This is one of the coolest things I've bought in a very long time. [adore]

Does Arisaka make anything that would mount a m300 on a picatinny at 9 o'clock but the scout would sit in the same position as their offset keymod at 10:30? I know the other vendor makes something but the awesomeness of my keymod mount makes me want to look here first

We are now a Surefire authorized dealer, so you can select the standard and SR07 tape switches (and socketed tailcap) on our 300 and 600 series lights. If you compare the cost of a light plus buying the tailcap/remote switch separately, I think you'll be pretty happy with the pricing we offer.

Additionally, we are stocking the Surefire M300V and M600V White/IR Scout lights, which come with a free Arisaka Scout mount of your choice. These are the newest models that bumped up the output, with 250 white/100mW IR on the M300V and 350 white/120mW IR on the M600V.

Standalone momentary tailcaps and 300/600 series lights with momentary tailcaps should be available again on the site later today, and Streamlight Protac Rail Mount combos are shipping.

Will,

Any chance to buy a Surefire light with the tapeswitch? It's an option for other lights, but mounts are the only options showing for the SF lights. Also, any ETA on the picatinny hand stops?

Loving the Scout mount for my streamlight torch. That thing is in that 45 degree course of M-Lok tighter than a West Virginian 2nd grader! [:D]

Thanks,

Joel

It's a limitation of our shopping cart setup that prevents me from adding more options, as it won't let me share the base item (in this case the M300C) between all the variants at the same time. Instead, if I have 5 lights in stock and 5 variants to choose from, that means only one of each is available on the site (or some combination that totals 5 lights). Allowing someone to choose the UE+ST07 or UE+SR07 remote switches means 15+ variants, so I would need 15 lights to offer one of each variant for sale.

Anyway, if you want a remote switch and a surefire light that we have in stock send me an email and I can put together a quote for you and do an online invoice.

We are a few weeks out on the Picatinny finger stops. We're still tuning the fit tolerances, but they should be in full production next week.

Our new Finger Stops for Picatinny are available, along with new variations of the Inline Scout Mount for legacy Troy/VTAC Alpha handguards.

The Finger Stop for Picatinny has a new profile, and works well as a rear hand stop in addition to the front index point that easily slips between your fingers. It's secured with two nylon tipped set screws.

The Inline Scout Mounts for Troy/VTAC Alpha handguards have specific recoil lugs to each style of handguard and use a similar backing plate, much like the OEM supplied modular rails. Like our KeyMod and M-Lok versions, they allow you to shift the light outwards for more clearance, and work great on the top 45 degree positions on either side of the 12 o'clock rail.

The new IR compatible bodies are available on the site, and will be making their way out to dealers. We've been out of stock for so long that they should all be the new type if you purchase from a dealer.

We also have some 3 slot pic rails available for KeyMod and M-Lok, if you don't need the extra strength of the 5 slot design. They're still just as low profile as the 5 slot rails, of course.

Sorry, I don't have a bootleg handguard so I don't know for sure. The offset should be fine, but it's impossible to know without having it here in my hands.

What kind of comparison are you looking for with the inline vs offset?

So it will be slr ion hybrid handguard and inline mount.

For the cost of those lights, it's easier to just grind off the offending part of the lugs if you have fit issues. Selling a $60-70 body for a $100 light doesn't really go over well.

Their socket is proprietary, as far as I know. It would not be cost effective to duplicate it. Perhaps an adapter could be made that goes between a UE tailcap and the streamlight. But again, you'd be looking at spending more than the light costs in order to use Surefire remote switches. I guess that might be worth it to some people?

I could have worded that better. An adapter might be $20. Then add a UE tailcap and SR07 switch for $115.

Honest question: are you willing to spend that much on the entire setup?

I was interested in purchasing just 1 adapter for at most $80, but if the adapter is $20-30, I'd buy 3-4 immediately. If it can be done, cash, credit, check, money order, whichever is preferred, I'll send it ASAP.

My plan is/was Protac Rail Mount HL-X, UE Tail cap, TNVC/Unity Tactical TAPS

The dual fuel capability of the Protac HL-X is what I'm primarily drawn to (the lumen and candela output is a bonus). It's unfortunate that Streamlight had the foresight to go with the Scout body/mounting system but went with their proprietary thread for the tailcap.

I drew out a few concepts today and it looks like it will be possible, and shouldn't be very expensive. I don't have an ETA at this point, of course, but we're going forward with the adapter. [:D]

Dropped the rifle on the light, it was on the 300BO Rainier wevo build and I had it mounted too far out. Will is going to take care of it so all is good, but definitely shouldn't be cantilevering these off the end of the rail like I had it. I'll have to run it about an inch further back which will change my grip a bit, but oh well.

Yeah that mount has two places that the light attaches to the mlock mount. The ring mount only has one. I don't think a suppressor would have made a difference. Cantilevering the mount there must not have been enough support with the one attachment point being that it was over the rail. So, when the light hit the surface of the ground, the attachment point acted as the pivot point for all of the force, if that makes sense. Because it was cantilevered and not fully supported the mount slightly bent and fractured. For sure it was my fault by not mounting it properly, but great of Will to take care of it anyway.

I need to get my ass to the post office and send it off here soon. Been swamped.

My ring mount was mounted basically the same way. You have yours in that picture.

Regarding cantilevering: I don't recommend it. Tact's rifle is as far as I would go with the inline scout mount. The inline ring mount should have the ring still over the handguard.

Inventory update: Offset Scout Mounts are back in stock, finally.

We also have a limited run of 300 Series Lights coated in Magpul FDE Cerakote. These were hard coat anodized first, and include your choice of a matching Arisaka momentary or Surefire Z68 tailcap. These lights feature our streamlined light bodies which are compatible with any aftermarket Scout mount, head, or tailcap. The Malkoff E1T TIR head provides 300 lumens and 9,000 lux.

https://arisakadefense.com/products/300-series-light

http://i.imgur.com/BtSqoJql.jpg

Malkoff has provided us with two new head configurations for the 600 Series Lights:

E2ST (Super Throw) - 20,000 lux at 1 meter and 650 initial/550 continuous out-the-front lumens. This head has a very focused beam for maximum distance.
E2S (Super) - 12,000 lux at 1 meter and 750 initial/700 continuous out-the-front lumens. This head has a wider beam profile, giving more spill.

These heads pull a lot of power, and the battery life reflects this: continuous run time is 15-20 minutes on 2x CR123 cells or 45-60 minutes on 1x 16650 cell. Real world use where the light is turned on and off in spurts will result in closer to 30-45 minutes run time with 2x CR123 cells.

I like them, but not sure they are worth $60, since scout lights no longer come with UE07's which cost another $90. If you have some older scout lights that still have the UE07's included it might be worthwhile.

I'm wondering if they're ever going to offer their Harris Bi Pod low profile mount kit in QD. I have one, mounted to a section of their low profile rail, along with a
Pod Lock, and it is great on my LR-10. Would be a world of difference it was QD.

After a long wait which involved Malkoff changing how the heads are machined, we have 300 series lights back in stock. Black is available now, with FDE Cerakote in early September. 600 series lights are going to be a bit longer.

300 Series Light with Malkoff E1T head: https://arisakadefense.com/products/300-series-light

300 Series Light with Surefire KM1-C IR/White head: https://arisakadefense.com/products/300-series-ir-light

Malkoff E1T head by itself: https://arisakadefense.com/products/malkoff-scout-light-head

We have also finished a variant of our Offset Scout Mount for the MCX and Virtus. It has special recoil lugs that fit the vent holes above the KeyMod/M-Lok slots, placing the mount at the top corner of the OEM handguards. A backer plate is used to secure it. These also have a relief cut along the bottom for the raised M-Lok surface on the Virtus handguard, so the mount will sit flush without any issues.

I redesigned the QD from scratch, making it stronger in several spots (not that we've ever had one fail, but I'm OCD). It also let me change to better hardware. You'd be surprised how many people manage to strip out the 3/32" Allen low profile cap heads on the original design. The full size cap heads on the new one use a 5/32" Allen. Much more durable. I've been working my way through our product line improving things. This is why the inline scout mounts now have screws with 1/8" Allen sockets, instead of the older 3/32".

I can imagine the smaller allen getting stripped.

I first noticed the screws on the QD when I opened the package yesterday. I grabbed my small Allen wrench... and that wasn’t going to work. Haha Then, whoa, the whole thing is beefier. I like it.

It depends on the mount, and how thick it is where the screws are located. We use 1/4" (just the threads, not including the head). You said you need screws for an iwc, so I don't know what that uses.

I'm thinking the IWC must be compatible with the OEM screws, since I think I've somehow managed to repurpose some screws at some point. Not sure how I've ended up with a spare IWC mount without any fasteners, but I'm sure the defunct Streamlight is probably to blame...

1/4" seems small, but I'm wondering if the .375" may work well enough. I'll see what Joel has and go from there....and probably call SF on Monday, as well.

For what it's worth, the IWC screws are .318. I was able to find some .375" at Ace today and after a little grinding, problem solved. The .375" were definitely too long for the Arisaka body and the Thorntail mount.
