This is what I'm working with. For an M300C tailcap actuated, do I want the Arisaka offset or inline?

I prefer the offset in most situations. Gives a little more adjustment room if needed.

It's also smaller than the previous non-QD version. I haven't looked at all the numbers yet, but price will hopefully be about the same, as well.

-Ends up with rifle that has same basic functionality that it did before starting this endeavor...check.

QD bipod mounts are done and available!

https://arisakadefense.com/products/low-profile-bipod-mount

To install or remove you loosen the canting adjustment on your Harris bipod, then pull the latch away from the Picatinny rail and slide the mount (and bipod) on or off the rail. Once positioned where you prefer, the spring loaded latch snaps into the Picatinny slot, and then even slight tension on the canting adjustment will lock it in place.

Okay, you have the one cool looking AK ever made. Not for tacti-cool, but every other AK just looks like it jumped off Kalsh's drafting table in the 1940's. Not a lot of focus on modernizing, or else I only see purist photographs. Sure, it's the dirt poor conscript's gun the world over, but you have to remotely like how something looks to be able to enjoy it.

Gene is very conservative on the outputs and run time. Run time will also depend on how you use it. You can get a few hours if you're not running continuously.

Not yet. Although I'm not planning on selling the surefire DF heads (not even certain if I can get those). The modlite heads are a million times better than the DF head, anyways. I'm using the okw with 65k lux on my personal rifles.

The modlite 18350 bodies are really cool as long as you don't mind the reduced run time.

Finally grabbed the QD version of the Pic rail bipod mount for the last remaining Harris I had that was sporting an ADM mount. I swapped out the parts and tried to put on the first pic rail and found the rail was too thick for it to slide on easily (it's cerokoted). I then tried on another rail and it slid on fine, but once it snapped into place and the Pod Loc was tightened, it still had play on the rail (mount would wobble on rail).

With the previous, non-QD version, play is taken out by tightening the cross screw. Obviously that's not there anymore and I don't see another way to take out the play with the new design. Will, am I missing something? I didn't see any other adjustment options in the directions on your site.

Sorry for the off-topic, but has anyone heard from Slippers recently? He seems to be fulfilling orders, but he hasn't been on here in a month. Just wanted to make sure everything is okay.

He's super busy, but I talk to him every few days.

The DS is great. It allows you to still have a functional light if the remote breaks. I would consider it a necessity for duty use. Otherwise the UE is smaller, lighter, and cheaper.

There will be some movement because of how it has to slide on, and allowing for tolerance stacking since the Picatinny spec allows for some variation. The movement doesn't matter since proper shooting technique means loading the bipod, which causes everything to firm up. For comparison take a look at how much wobble there is in the legs when extended.

We're going to offer a revised cross bolt version later this Summer since there's been a lot of demand for it. The QD version will still be offered alongside it.

Copy. I understand it shouldn't affect function, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything when installing it.

Changed it up a little and just ordered the 300 series body and the SR07 with the DS tail cap. No extra parts this way and cheaper too. Ok light gurus, which Malkoff head should I get? E1 scout M300 or the E1T scout M300?

What mount are you using? If you use an Arisaka mount, it'll come with the screws.

Im going to try the light on different rifles so I have LWRC's 45 degree mount on one rifle which did not come with the screws but I beleive the screws that come with the Surefire M300 will work on that one so I need the surefire screw size.

I also picked up Magpuls 45 degree offset mlok mount for my sons rifle but after looking at it again this morning I noticed it came with the screws. But I will still be short a couple of sets of screws for the other rifles. I guess I just need the surefire m300 scout light body screw size...

Every mount is different, and may require varying lengths or head types for the screws depending how it was designed. We include the proper screws with our mounts.

The underside screw holes on scout lights are threaded 8-32.

What's the run time like on these?

If you're impressed enough to drop all other Malkoff heads I think it is time to put all mine on eBay.

Those screws are from the Magpul mount which I beleive will be #8-32x 3/8" Black Oxide Stainless Steel Button Head Socket Cap Screws. Thanks for the screw size Will, I will try them out on Monday when I pick up your package from the PO. That should leave me about a 1/4" of threads going up into your light body, do you think that will be enough?

Its a great light, very defined beam with minimal spill. Compared it to the X300u and at 325 Lumens its brighter than the surefire at 500 lumens. Its hard to describe but the beam is very direct and intense... I think runtime is around 45-60 minutes IIRC. Just ordered another 300 body and a E1HT for my sons rifle. Ha! Now UW will have to upgrade...:P

Just received my E1HT head from Malkoff yesterday, and also the host body, mount & a tail switch from Arisaka. Seriously impressed with the amount of throw I get from this thing, especially powered by just one CR123A. Noticeably less spill than Gene's regular heads (as expected), but still sufficient for indoor room clearing use with plenty of reach for outdoor PID.

Dude it wasn't long ago I was telling some new guy on the dept that when I started, SF 60 lumen lights were the shit. We were all using the old Streamlight SL20's and Maglites, all incandescent bulbs, and somehow made it work ok. Light technology has come so far in the last couple of decades. I still have a couple of SF Incandescents floating around somewhere.

300 lumens still seems so bright to me!

See that tells me I need to upgrade. I'm still using a 10 year old Surefire Miniscout that I can't even remember the lumens on. Like 160 I think.

So far not bad, I haven't seen any more issues with the Malkoff with taking blast than an SF head. The CMT ZCOMP pictured above however, throws very little concussion to the sides though.

The anodizing has a little discoloration from muzzle blast and the lens has one slight foggy area from the same. Neither seems to have affected function in any way.

Technically I've had a M-LOK rail already on my SR-25, but I finally decided to join the modern age and put a M-LOK on a carbine. Just prior to doing that, I also bought one of the newer Surefire Scouts with the included mount. While I'm less than impressed with the SF mount design compared to the old ones, it is what it is. However, that leads me to wanting a better mount which means the first stop is to Arisaka.

So, I see that Will sells a mount for the newer Scouts, and it looks like it has the hole for what would be the screw that creates the pivot point, but I wasn't sure if the Arisaka mount actually allows the light to pivot. Whether it does or it doesn't (it's fine if it doesn't), does anyone know if that mount still allows the light to tuck under the top Pic rail like the other Arisaka Scout mounts? This assumes attaching the mount at the 2 (or 10) o'clock position.

Thank you very much for the offer. Let me get past Christmas and I'll come back for reattack.

I know you don't have it installed, but does it look like it would seat the light below the top rail? The non-rotating mounts do that so a PEQ can sit on top of the light. The overall profile of the light is nice and compact.

Yes it does. But barely clears. Are you trying to use the sides at either 9 or 3, or the 10:30 or 1:30?

Here it is from the 3 o'clock, does exactly what you want if this is the position that you're wanting.
