While I be patient for being able to get the rest of the parts I need for this pistol I'm working on, I've been playing around with designs.

I've thought about putting a magwell grip on this pistol and also an angled foregrip. I have no experience with either though.

For you who have AR pistols, how do you hold them with your forward hand? How do you find it best for control and comfort?

I can see advantages to both grips from a geometric, ergonomic and physics perspective. I won't know how they actually feel in my hands and work with my body until I work with them. Just holding my .303 or my shotgun I can understand how an angled grip would be more comfortable. I wouldn't have to twist my wrist 90 degrees. It seems to me that the magwell grip is designed to for AR pistols to kind of mimic two handed shooting with a pistol.

What experience do any of you have with either grip on an AR pistol and what are your thoughts about them? Hearing your experience and thoughts may very well help me.

Thanks guys,
-Will-

Do you have a sig brace? I would highly recommend the extended buffer tube with a sig brace. Makes it much more practical.

I use the magpul AFG on mine. having the longer buffer tube helps with the length of pull and grip on the handguard.

I use a Sig brace with a KAK buffer tube. It holds the brace out roughly as far as a regular carbine stock on the middle notch, right where I'd use it. My pistol has a 10.5" barrel and carbine gas...came with a drop in quad rail and I use an AFG that I have as far forward as possible: the front hand stop is under the bayonet lug/front sight post

While my pistol is not yet completed, I've played with a few. Some type of AFG is ideal, also a forward hand stop.

EDIT: Just say no to magwell grips.

Thank ya sir! Ive been adding to it for about a year now. It's pretty much where i want it. I have a salient BCG on the way but i dont know if im going to put that in my long range AR or the pistol....

That's a really nice idea you got there. Never thought about it that way.
