View Full Version : Can anyone identify this extension nut?

Watching the Hickok45 video today and notice on this .300 pistol build a very long receiver extension nut.

I would love to have this on my pistol build. It would be a great way to get my sig brace further out without getting a long(er) buffer tube. I am limited in length here in MI.

Odin works makes a similar one to "adjust" your "stock"

Just looked it up. Looks nice. Sent them an email to see if they can give me the length of the tube. It looks like it's a little too long to work for me.

Odin's LOP is 10.5", phase 5 hex2 has 9.5" LOP, KAK tube gives you the best of all worlds, and offers most adjustability

This is just my opinion... but Sig Braces suck. [:D]

Also, Odin tube and brace kit is on sale for Veterans Day at primary arms, but I believe you said you have the brace already en route

Gonna use my brace til I get my trust squared away and figure out all the details behind this 29" OAL for SBR in maryland.

What would a guy with Form 1 SBRs coming out of his wazoo know about a Sig Brace??? http://www.ohiowaterfowler.com/SMILEYS/TOOFUNNY.gif

Remember there Are a lot of states that do not let you have any class III at all so they work for us

While SBRs are now (finally) an option here, I want a pistol.
I've played with one with a brace and liked it.

Though by law I have to stay 26" or less in OAL. (He muzzle device and brace itself do not count in the OAL)

Yeah, the wife ordered me the brace for my BDay.

10.5" barrel will get you 29.5" and you will be approved unless there's something else barring you. I got one back recently with those dimensions listed.

29"... Man I wish it was 29" for a pistol here. That would make life easier.

Thanks! Considering I married her, I think she's pretty awesome. Haha

Pistols here can be whatever length. Sbr's have to be over 29". I figured a 10.5 would get me there, so that's what will happen.

For the record, most of my SBR's are Form 4's [:D]

Believe me, I feel your pain. For years, I used an AR pistol. I think the NFA is a racket, forcing me to pay $200 for something I already own and now I have to pay to get it engraved? Ridiculous.

My comment was more for those that think they are getting some kind of bargain over someone with a stamp.

Although, I still have a pistol lower, when I had more, I would have never used the Sig Brace. It's corny. It doesn't work for me while shouldered. Great marketing on their part though.

Mine paid for my Form 1, she just doesn't know it yet.

Looks like the Phase5 Hex-2 is going to be the route for me.
Short, but also gives me added LOP.

That's the route I went. Then I saw the Odin and was bummed. Then I saw the extra inch the Odin adds and was not impressed.

Well that's good to hear.

Hoping to have this thing done by end of February. I am finally putting a goal to it.

I'm in about the same timeframe. Also if you don't know, phase 5 sells a hex-2-c kit, for complete. $80 for the tube, buffer, spring, nut and end plate.

I saw that. That's the one I am wanting to get. It's OOS currently.

Agreed. I'm not a fan of shooting the pistols. Sure, I like the idea, but shouldering them sucks. I'll just wait and get the stamp :)

Well, I sat down and did some measuring on my 14.5 carbine.

With a 10.5" barrel, its looking like I should have a solid 8" to play with (that sounds bad) as far as the buffer tube goes.

You'll be fine with the hex-2. It has about 2 inches that the brace sticks out, covered by the plug. The tube should be about 7.5 inches

To further derail my own thread (hey, it's my thread right?)...

The sig brace was back ordered so not sure when I'll get that.
But, the wife also got me the Noveske rail panels, what a PITA to install. My gas block was not low pro enough so I had to do some modifications on a couple tabs.

I really like NSR panels, but like you said, they are a PITA to install sometimes. I find they work the best on NSR rails, but I know people install them all the time on non-Noveske Rails. Speaking of, I wish Noveske would start making more 13.5" and 9" NSR's... those handguards seem to be vaporware the last year.
