I'd like to see a Primary Arms 6x ACSS22LR for the next T&E. I'll have to see if we can get one. I'm sure lots of 22LR shooters here.

I have a rough running list of what people are interested in.

I will also post new items that are available, and of course throw it out there to put out feelers. I get that not everyone wants to necessarily spend time testing everything.

Ok cool. Thanks UW

I have a Barska 3x9-40 that you'd have to beat out of my hands to get me to replace. It's a total POS as far as build quality, but the clicks are positive and the scope is so clear. I can swap it onto a rifle and have it sighted in, faster than I've ever had anything sighted in my life.

I do have to give Comp extra props. He went out and purchased a mount for the PA optic on his own and is going to forward the mount with the optic. Not many people would do that...

Also I'm getting a 12.5" .277WLV barrel in a couple weeks when they come in and will be mounting the Fortis rev 1 with it. I have had a rev 1 for a while on my 12.5" 223 Wylde SBR but I want to run the rail "factory". I have the Noveske rail covers on my rail. It completely changes the feel of the rail and they're a PITA to remove. So once I get the new barrel I'll build an upper and give the rail a good run as it is and post a review. This is only way I feel it gives the rail itself a fair review.

I would like to make a simple request :) I would like to T&E the 1-6x. I have reasons for it. I am shooting with cheap 1-4x and I am hunting all over high and low for other optics that might fit my needs. In ways I want more reach but in other ways I am not sure if it's necessary. I am kind of waffling between a couple of schools of thought on the matter so I am not really sure what I want. I just went to a nearby store and handled some vortex and some night force and a few other things... and now I am REALLY wanting to upgrade... but I need to do more homework before I dish out the dough. I am trying to make a wise decision...

I really want to see a 1 to 6 Vortex Strike fire (Correction Strike Eagle) come as a T&E. It has my attention. I was really torn on what to put on my latest build. If I can find an affordable reliable 1 to 6, I may put one on a one piece to swap out with a larger optic to give myself more options on one of my rifles.

To be honest mine was the first review I have ever done of anything. I didn't really know what to expect. I was pretty stoked to be chosen at all. But now that I have one under my belt I have a lot more ideas of what kind of things to include or what to look for or whatever. In the end I don't know if I did or said anything ground breaking but I enjoyed it and now I know a little bit better about things.

I can tell someone is chomping at the bit to get in on this program.

I would imagine a lot of us are. The program is pretty damn cool in my opinion. It's kinda like a try it before you buy it thing. Also it means a lot for the administrators and the people supplying the goods to be tested to trust the individuals that are getting the products. The fact that you know they will actually do what is asked of them and not just pocket the product and tell everyone else to kick rocks shows a lot about the caliber of people you guys are. I've never seen any other forum do this and to me that speaks volumes about the outstanding people of WEVO.

Honestly, I don't think anyone cares about the box.

voodoo_man
13 February 2015, 15:32
my reasons:

It is a review of what? the box? The shipping method? The packaging? The way it looks in the box? If it is then the name of the "review" needs to be "the box of *fill in the blank*" and should feature nothing of the product.

The only time I provide pictures of the packaging is when stuff is included that is normally not included, eg;

http://i.imgur.com/kWF9Ujy.jpg

Lots of stuff included as part of the package - no box though.

I believe it is a carry-over from electronics reviews since cnet / newegg and the like do reviews of unboxing and electronics people like that stuff.

Seeing as how the items we get are going to be used often times on a firearm (explosions, velocity and durability) I do not really care how its packaged. For all I care it can come in a dirty rag with a piece of ducktape with a label on it.

Then again, I do not baby anything and break everything.

The ALG ACT pulls right around 6 lbs - but it's about the same as your typical mil spec trigger. Nothing too fancy, just a step up from a mil spec trigger ~ polished sear surfaces, on top of a NiB and Nickel Teflon coating (the disconnector is coated with one, the hammer with the other to my knowledge). I'm not quite sure, but I think the ACT has a slightly larger surface area on the trigger bow than typical mil spec ones do - at least it seems like it does to me.

Edit: forgot to mention - ACT breaks very clean, and has a very crisp reset. No over travel or creep either. For a one up from a mil spec trigger, and for the price point ~ hard to beat! (... but let's be real here, I'm a Geissele fanboy :o)

MonkeyBomb
18 February 2015, 20:39
If I had to guess I would say this one breaks at around 7.5 to 8 lbs . Its fairly smooth but way heavy. I may just tinker with some springs to see if that helps.

I am shooting the 3.5 lb single stage CMC flat trigger and in a full front cocked and locked position all the way back to a full back position the entire travel is about 1/8 of an inch or less. There is NO take up. I mean NONE. And there is NO over travel either. I love it.

If you don't want it to go bang, then take your finger off of the trigger. But the trigger travel is short and tight. It's got a solid pull. It doesn't feel 'mushy' like some of the other cheap trigger's I've tried.

I'm only lukewarm to the ACT so far. At this point I would say just save up the extra ~100$ for the G2S. It's far from a bad trigger but I would be disappointed if I was expecting an upgrade.

I have a "milspec" mp15-22 trigger that I personally believe has a smoother pull simply from years of use.

It's unfair to compare an ACT Trigger to a G2S. A lot of people were disappointed when the ACT/QMS Triggers first came out, because they thought it was going to be a cheap SSA.

The ACT/QMS line is basically a milspec trigger. If you have a decent milspec trigger from a LPK, there's no reason to "upgrade" to an ACT/QMS. A lot of milspec triggers get better with a lot of use. Sometimes, you get lucky and get a decent one out of the package.

For the most part, I usually buy LPK's without triggers and then buy a QMS. The ACT IMHO is a bit overrated as the coating doesn't really do anything for the "smoothness" Close your eyes, pull a QMS and ACT, I bet you don't notice the difference.

DutyUse
19 February 2015, 23:05
Agreed the coating is a bit gimmicky, kind of riding the NiB popularity wave. I haven't got to handle the QMS yet, and only have maybe 5 magazines on our ACT at this point. After I read your comment UW I went and dry fired the ACT a bit and it's certainly not money wasted, just more heavy then i'm use to lately. However I admit i'm a bit skewed as the snow has allowed us to run the elf quite a bit this week. I'm with you though, at this point I would only get a lpk w/o fcg.

Maybe I just don't know how often (or rather if) the mil spec triggers on M4's are replaced but they all seem fairly blah to me. The biggest thing that erks me with a mil spec trigger is that grittiness on the reset - so I guess in my mind, the smoothness of the reset in the ACT, in my mind justified it as an "upgrade".

I've never shot the QMS, but I'll agree with you that, practically, there is no difference between the two.

Only real complainant is my act breaks a tick over 7lbs. I agree on your assessment though Thompson no creep, positive reset just heavy pull. Years ago I would have thought it was great but I think the elftman 3 gun and the G ssa-e's have spoiled me.

Wanna try a sd-3g or the flat cmc for my SBR project. Once I tried a few flat triggers there's no going back.

That's interesting. Website's listed as 6 lbs; I always assumed mine was somewhere around there - now I'm curious to see what mine breaks at.

The SSA models are what I eventually hope to acquire for some build, significantly down the road.

Any opinions on the cmc single stage vs the sd-3G...Or maybe another I've missed? Sooo many nice trigger units out there. The proven reliability of the G. Triggers has me leaning that way at the moment but open to ideas :)

I'm hooked on Geissele triggers. I lean towards the SSA or G2S as a favorite. But man, the one SD-C i have is pretty freakin' amazing. I'm kind of pissed because i've invested so much in the SSA, and now want the flat SD-C in all my guns lol. I'm afraid to even try the SD-3G. [BD]

As far as ALG triggers go, i've got a few QMS triggers and i like them for a milspec single stage. I can usually make an out of the box milspec trigger feel as good as an ALG by spending a few minutes with my Dremel polishing. But i think part of the draw for the ALG triggers is top quality parts (good pins, strong springs, etc.), and a smooth pull out of the box without having to burn through a few thousand round of ammo, or dry fire till your fingers bleed lol.

I use to think the SSA & SSA-E were THE goto performance triggers and I still adore them, but after expanding my horizons some the flat faced single stages are like a broken record. However i'm still trying to find that balance between reliability and performance. I think some of these uber high end ones might not be the best choice in a hard use or goto rifle...

I shot a buddy's 3 gun rifle that he's got an American Triggers Corp AR Gold installed in… Holy balls! That trigger is crazy fast, crazy light, and the reset is so short it's almost unbelievable! It's one hell of a competition trigger. I haven't done enough research to see how it'd hold up in the long run. It'd be tough to beat Geissele in durability.

Sadly I haven't got much range time in the last few months. What with work getting busy, training new people, raising the kiddo and general life goings on all I've got to do is test fire and make sure the irons were on target. But I might have put about 60 rounds through it and man I can't wait to get more trigger time on her. I'm in love with this rifle.

That happened to me with the SSA.

I have an SSA-E in my SBR that I pulled off my 6.5 Grendel. I know it's more of a precision trigger but what little I've shot it it works well with the SBR.

I wanted to trade my SSA-E for a SD-C for the SBR. REALLY digging the flat triggers and the SD-C seemed to be a perfect fit. As much as I love the SD-3G it's not much suited for duty use. My wife's rifle has a ALG trigger in it (can't remember which one) and it's really nice. It's really smooth. My 14.5" middy BCM has a primary arms trigger in it if I remember right and even it's not bad. I still prefer my Geissele triggers though! [BD] My cousin has about 4 SD-3G just laying around... I'll definitely keep you in mind should i ever decide to change them out. The SSA and SD-C are both fantastic triggers, so it's tough for me to justify the extra expense of the SD-C to replace an SSA. What i wish Geissele would do is come out with a flat version of the G2S.

I certainly does sound like 2015 will see a lot of new things from Geissele. I'm pretty stoked to see the trigger that produced these results…

As for actual demand for a flat bow G2S, i really don't know. The G2S seems to sell pretty quickly, as do any of the other flat bow triggers from Geissele. Should be a hit! Although, something tells me just about anything Geissele puts their name on sells pretty well.

I kind of have a theory here that I am developing... I am learning as much as possible about optics, how they operate, how to use them, their strengths, weaknesses etc... and to build a rifle around the purpose of the optic.

For example I am really looking at the Vortex 2.5-10X FFP (MOA version) as my next buy. And to carry on with that, get a really nice match or near match grade barrel and build an upper designed especially for punching paper for groups and/or longer range engagements (400-600 yards etc etc). That is kind of high on the list of priorities I think.

Other optics I have been looking at are the US Optics 1-8x, several 1-6x, a good red dot (or holographic sight) most likely a 1x but I am still learning. For really long range shooting in other calibers I am also kind of digging the horus system. I am also thinking about making a lighter weight race gun (3 gun style) with a round hand guard, variable 1-4 or 1-6 optic and a offset 45 degree red dot or holographic sight.

Basically once I pick the optic(s) in question I can get a barrel to match the purpose and build from there. The 1x would be well served with a suppressed .300 Black Out SBR shooting primarily subs. You could throw on a secondary magnifier or night vision behind it with a QD mount and it's rock and roll time.

I am starting to form a few opinions on optics, AR design, and a few other things.
