Got a Burris 1.5-8x28 yesterday. Debated overnight then went back for a Vortex 2.5-10x32. Today. One will go with the Ballistic Advantage 17.7" SS barrel I also bought - only 30oz!. The other on a BCM SS410 16" upper I got on a forum.

I'm a serial "buy once, cry once" offender.

Kept telling myself I didn't need much. Ended up getting

an SWFA 1-4x scope.
a case Wolf Gold. As long as .223 stays under $300 delivered, I'll keep buying 1-2K chunks.

Non-firearm
another 1TB portable hard drive for photo backup on trips.
40-150 mm lens for an OM-D E-M10 mirrorless camera.

Contemplated the SWFA 1-4x24 for a day or so, then realized that I don't need another 1-4, and I don't care for MilDot.

Interested to see what your thoughts are on the SWFA. I'm assuming you got the new one for $299 ?

I got nothing gun related, I made myself promise not to.

I bought my nephew a few books and his first soccer ball.

I picked up lone survivor for myself because it was 4 bucks

And my big ticket items were the nearly $200 Phillips Norelco razor that I paid $40 for

And salon quality blow dryer and curling iron for my girlfriend.

And if it counts as a Black Friday purchase just because I bought it on Friday, I got some groceries too.

Yeah, that's the one.

I've been bad about not getting photos and reviews done for the forum (like that San Tan lower, which I've almost used enough to feel OK about writing up now).

I'll try to get something done for the SWFA fairly quick, especially since it's a new-to-market piece.

Didn't get too much with limited funds - AR-15/M-16 Buttstock cleaning kit, Hoppes boresnake, CAT M4 (my stuff).

... would have liked to pick up some cheap BCG's.

The bulk of the funds went towards Christmas gifts ...
Person of Interest Season 3 - BluRay, Magpul iPhone 5 bump case, iPad 2 Air case, amongst a few other things.

eh... my wife is a walking health disaster. 7 years of Lyme disease eating away at her joints and we can't eradicate it completely. So far she's had total joint replacements of both jaw joints and both knees. Now a 2nd tooth cracked while eating chicken noodle soup - she's waiting for an implant for the first tooth and now this one went. Going to have to have it done the same way too it looks like. Cool thing is her frontal head XRay makes her look like the Terminator...

My brother from another mother...

I've been eyeing that Braun Series 7 for awhile. After Amazon dropped it to $150, it was time to pull the trigger. I've had 7680 Braun for over 12 years. Still gives a great shave, as long as you change out the foil and cutter every 18 months as they suggest. However, I've finally noticed that the battery life is dropping fast. Not to be unexpected after over a decade of use. I hope to get another 10-12 years out of this one.

You'll have to share the rest of your Amazon wish list, mine is actually empty for now.... well except for a 128 GB SD Card.

Not for everyone... we're one the 5th different treatment protocol, and nothing has cleared it 100% - not the antibiotics, not the ACS, Crowdens, nothing so far. It keeps returning after each.

But this is a BF pickup thread, so lets stick to that.

I replied to your post (and others) as I don't believe in letting someone who is being helpful go unanswered, or maybe add a comment here and there in the gist of the thread. But if the thread has a different subject, I TRY to keep my posts to as few as possible and keep the subject going. No preaching, no snarkiness - sorry if you think so, but oh well. Can't please everyone I guess.

And UWone is right... not interested in going indepth on medical info. Since others made comments, I replied but have done more than I should.

my LGS (TGD Firearms, Pensacola, FL) had the Smith & Wesson Shields on sale for $300 OTD. I picked up a 9mm shield and 4 Anderson lowers at $50ea OTD.

Monday of last week ordered 3 "Freedom Rifle Kit" from PSA. My father would like 3 AR's for his boys for Christmas (heart attack got him scared he wont be around for long). Gave me a $1500 budget, $500ea obviously. The Freedom Rifle Kit includes a SS barrel of 1/7 twist, m4 feed ramps, mid-length gas, m16 carrier with C158 bolt that has been MPI/HPT, CH, LPK, stock kit, all inclusive excluding lower.

Lower Receiver $50
PSA AR Rifle Kit $399 + shipping

That will leave me approx $35-$40 each to finish within budget.

Hoping to be able to find rear sights and mags so my brothers can shoot their rifles on Christmas day. Where I already have 4, they have never owned one. I'm very excited for them.

Had a couple, ran several thousand rounds through them. Never had an issue. Troy sent me some free mags with an order once, when they first came out. They were doing that for awhile to get their product out there. Not that I've looked hard or often, but I don't recall anyone having issues with the Troy Mags.

Guys - really sorry about the health issues, hope things take a turn for the better soon.

We just retired and bought a Neighborhood Cruiser - not exactly a Black Friday sale item though.

Hell of a nice ride you got there. Love the mirror set up in it(sides and the wrap bar) Thing looks like it has some serious clearance.

Jerry, I was wondering what you were up to... and now we know. You've been spending all of your money on that golf cart on roids!

Congrats on retirement. I hope I make it there in good health, surrounded by many firearms. [:D]

Yessir, sorry for the neglect on here. Been absolutely swamped closing in Georgia, moving to Florida, unpacking and downsizing (not firearms). Hope to get back to full swing shortly.

As of right now all I have done is put my plates in it and put it on and ran (mostly walked and jogged) a mile. I need to adjust it so it fits better but it’s very comfortable out of the box. My plates (AR500 plates) don’t seem to fit all the way into the plate pocket. Not sure if that’s because its designed to accept the swimmers cut style plates and mine are only the shooters cut or what. But i plan to add shoulder pads, the stock ones are surprisingly comfortable for the padding they have or lack thereof. i might also add the SKD pontoons. I was surprised at how small it was. I’m a decently big guy, 6'2" 240lbs with I believe a 48" chest if I remember my measurements, and it looks like a child’s plaything on me but its supposed to be a minimal type carrier. I too desperately wanted a Strandhogg and the price point made it hard to pull the trigger on. So i figured if I liked this one enough I would entertain the idea more of the strandhogg for a duty carrier for active shooter type situations. That’s all I got as of now until i get it rigged up and go out and play in it but im ultimately satisfied with it.

Have you tried donning it quickly under simulated stress? I have a suspicion the tubes system would aid tremendously compared to the old velcro crap.

I'm surprised a shooters cut isn't a perfect fit. I thought the FirstSpear stuff was designed for a medium esapi? I've never used ar500 but was under the impression they mimicked a medium plate in dimensions.

Either way good score!

I haven't tried too quickly as I'm still learning with it. Those plates are heavy! The STT is a pretty snug fit in the plate pocket not so much the width it's the cut if that makes sense. Up towards the should area is where there seems to be some play. I'll see if I can get some pictures.
