Fayette, MO (Dec. 1, 2014)-CMMG Inc. today announced the release of the Mk47 MUTANT – an all-new rifle platform that combines the accuracy of the modern sporting rifle and relentless AK47-like reliability with the legendary 7.62x39mm caliber. - See more at: http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2014/12/01/cmmg-mk-47-mutant-pricing-details/#sthash.kBl98NmS.dpuf

Engineered from 7075-T6 billet aluminum, the Mk47 MUTANT features a uniquely designed upper and lower receiver built to manage the dimensions and pressures of the 7.62x39mm tapered cartridge all while keeping the weight of the rifle at a minimum. Remarkably, the Mk47 MUTANT (while unloaded) weighs just over seven pounds. - See more at: http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2014/12/01/cmmg-mk-47-mutant-pricing-details/#sthash.kBl98NmS.dpuf

The Mk47 MUTANT utilizes a unique bolt carrier group derived from the massive AR10 group, which aside from being shortened to a length of eight inches, retains all of the material on the bolt face for added durability and strength. - See more at: http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2014/12/01/cmmg-mk-47-mutant-pricing-details/#sthash.kBl98NmS.dpuf

The lower receiver is designed to accept existing AK magazines, which are widely available, inexpensive and extremely reliable. A standard ambidextrous hook and latch system makes reloading fast and intuitive. The rifle comes with one Magpul PMAG® 30-round AK/AKM MOE® 7.62×39 Magazine. - See more at: http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2014/12/01/cmmg-mk-47-mutant-pricing-details/#sthash.kBl98NmS.dpuf

A full-length Picatinny rail runs atop the Mk47, making it easy to mount your preferred sights or optics. CMMG’s RKM KeyMod™ Hand Guard is exceptionally light and ergonomic. It also gives users the freedom to mount a wide array of accessories using the KeyMod slots found in the 3, 6 and 9 o’clock positions. For accessories that are not yet KeyMod compatible, CMMG offers 5-slot accessory rails. - See more at: http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2014/12/01/cmmg-mk-47-mutant-pricing-details/#sthash.kBl98NmS.dpuf

The Mk47 sports a 16.1″ free floated barrel with a 1:10 twist and runs on the proven carbine-length direct impingement gas system. By effectively maximizing the accuracy and harnessing the knockdown power of the 7.62x39mm, the Mk47 is an ideal rifle for a variety of sporting and defense applications. - See more at: http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2014/12/01/cmmg-mk-47-mutant-pricing-details/#sthash.kBl98NmS.dpuf

This is the only way an "AR47" should be done.

Lower receiver that takes AK mags.
I think it was RRA that made an AR lower that accepted AK mags. Maybe it was Stag?

Knights Armament made the SR-47 which I don't think ever made it into production. RRA made the LAR-47.

Wonder if this not being a piston system will hurt it's sales?

Wonder if this not being a piston system will hurt it's sales?

So it's a wanna be AK for $1500 (And D.I. no less) and full of proprietary parts. No thanks, I'll keep my SAM7R.

I for one am excited. Ive always wanted a 7.62x39 rifle, but the ak's ergos just suck, and the AR's from rra and mgi have never inspired confidence in quality. The way the CMMG looks where it's been built from the ground up is very promising to me.

Its looking like most reviews are seeing under 1.5 moa with wolf. That's incredible, and that makes my Arsenal look like shit haha. I'm all for this, the superior ergos and optic mounting solution of the AR mixed with AK mags and a big strong bolt to boot. What isn't there to like? I know a lot of AK purists are getting their panties in a wad because its not piston but who cares if it runs well.

I would definitely like to try one out. That's impressive accuracy for Wolf.
